coleman lantern goes out? i have a coleman duel fuel lantern. it worked perfect all summer long, always lit up like it should. now all of the sudden after being lit for 2-3 minutes, it will go out, and nort because of wind. i checked the fuel and pressure and everything is ok. anyone know what the problem could be? what part exactly is the head? ive never done any work on lanterns except changing the globes and mantles. any extra help is welcome did you rotate the cleaning nosel? it is a small little l shaped thingy right below the head of the lantern.

Most lantern problems occur at the cleaning nosel look at the diagram and note part #2 directly across from it is a L shaped handle that rotates after you have pumped up the pressure in the can open the valve and rotate the little handel this will clean the piping at that location and should clear up your problem

Is the first chapter of my new story good? This is the opening chapter of a story i wrote recently... Finn's Kingdom Finn paused at the top of the ladder. He looked up at the sky. It was a pale blue, and the darker shapes of clouds crawled across the sky like slugs. Finn climbed up the ladder, through the broken skylight. He clambered up and walked along the cafe roof. He walked to the edge and sat down. He was about the height of a two-storey house. His legs dangled over the side. There wasn’t much on the roof. The top of the ladder poked through one of the six skylights. The other five were intact. There were a couple of cardboard boxes, filled with rubbish. Finn couldn’t see anyone. He was used to being alone now. Well, he could never say he was truly alone. The Creepers were out there. They always were. They never went away. Finn liked to watch them- as long as he was out of their way. He thought they were fascinating, yet he still hated them. He despised them more than anything left on Earth. The roof was rough and dirty brown, flecked with moss and bird droppings. The cafe itself was in a bad way. The doors and windows were boarded up, and the outside walls were filthy were the Creepers had scrabbled at them. Finn stood up slowly. He scanned the theme park, the rides broken and useless, the shops abandoned and the whole place a mess. The roller coaster tracks looked like the skeletons of dinosaurs in the pale light. Finn loved this place; he always had, since he was a little kid. He remembered the days of setting off to Dewhurst Park early in the morning. Just him, his mum, his dad and maybe a friend. But now he loved it more than ever. It was his home. He’d lived in the cafe the past seven months. He was at the park all those months ago when it started. Finn and his friend Dylan had come out of the park cinema one afternoon and found nothing but chaos. People dropping dead all over the place. Finn couldn’t find his parents anywhere. He and Dylan were terrified, as not only were people collapsing but they were... getting back up again. The dead, ambling around, attacking the panicking survivors. The people had split up, the mad rush of fearful humans trying to find somewhere safe. Finn and Dylan got separated. It was the last time Finn ever saw him. Finn was used to the silence. It was better than the screaming and the shouting. He hadn’t really moved away from the cafe in all the seven months. He went out occasionally, but there was no real need to. There was a rope hanging down from the side of the roof for him to get back in when he did go out. The Creepers were too stupid and clumsy to climb it. The doors and windows had been blocked up by adults when the attack started. Finn himself was only 12 years old. He didn’t know any adults that were alive for sure. Finn walked quietly across the roof. It was early, and he was tired. He hadn’t slept all that night. He couldn’t. Just the thought of all the Creepers lurking outside was enough. Most nights he lied on the roof, just watching the sky. Other nights he would write poetry or stories by the light of his battery torch or wind-up lantern. He treasured his home in the cafe. It was all he had, really. im only 12. is it good for a kid of my age? i cant really write it in first person because the next few chapters focus on different characters. This is the blurb or basic description of the story: 7 months into a zombie invasion, Finn is alone. He and a small group of other children are scattered across an English theme park. They have to do their best to keep themselves safe from the murderous dead ambling around. In the end, Finn along with friends Will, Deano, Colin and Jay have to decide which is better; living in this sad, cruel world or succumbing to the Creepers... I confess I only read the first paragraph. It's very halty and chunky, you keep saying Flinn over and over again try working on your first person writing.

would you read more? I am writing a book, would you read more if it started like this? The rain poured down from the heavens onto the frozen ground. Hoof beats crunched through the ice, making a sound like that of breaking glass. Her rider, bent forward over her neck to escape the piercing wind, sat heavily as if a great weight were pressing down upon her shoulders. The fierce wind made the hood of the rider’s black cloak fall back exposing her face and neck. Cold icy rain ran through her thick black hair and down her pale skin, she struggled to pull the hood back into place. With a flick of the reins she urged her mount faster onwards, to find shelter and escape the dreadful chill. The only light that could be seen was a lone lantern up ahead of the trial. The lantern hung from the battlements of a small town, a sigh of relief escaped her lips. She pressed her body into her horse trying to borrow some of her body heat; thankfully they were close to some sort of shelter. The lone rider stopped at the closed gate, after making sure her hood was pulled forward and her cowl covered her mouth and nose she pounded on the gate. A man cried out into the darkness of the night, he was standing on the wall behind an arrow slit. “Who goes there?” The rider reached down and pulled a small bag of coins from the belt on her waist, she held it up in view of the man. He looked down and saw the bag, “are ye friend or foe?” Her horse pranced, eager to get out of the rain. She swallowed heavily, and said laced thickly with an Irish accent. “Friend” thankfully those words were enough to get the man to open the gate and allow her passage into the small town. thanks guys, just so everyone knows i wrote this at 2AM (couldnt sleep again) so it isnt my best, i woke up and reread it and was like woah....grammer....yea...the imaginry i use gives deapth and body to a book, this time in the begining it just so happens to be the weather. later it could be how beautifull the meadow is. thank you soo very much i will apreatate the comments as they come Yes, I would. Those who say that you have too much imagery are completely wrong. There is no such thing as too much imagery. The more, the better. However, you do have several errors that make it difficult to follow. For instance, in your third sentence, you begin with "Her rider." Before the pronoun "her," you had no explanatory antecedent. You should replace "her" with "the horse's" or "the mare's." The reader needs to stop and think through what you are saying to understand it in its current position, which you never want. Just clear up things like that, add detail about the horse, the town up ahead, the man's voice, and anything else you can think of.

Surviving a major terror attack via EMP, Chemical, or biological.? What is a good list of things I would need to survive such attacks? I have basic canned food, wind up lanterns, radios and water. I also have a first aid kit. Is there a way to protect my vehicle against EMP? I have a wife 2 children 2 and 4, and two dogs. Distance = From radioactive source, father from the hot zone is safer.
Shielding = Such as lead or thick concrete.

Well can you Can you sleep while the wind blows ? Years ago, a farmer owned land along the Atlantic seacoast. He constantly advertised for hired hands. Most people were reluctant to work on farms along the Atlantic . They dreaded the Awful storms that raged across the Atlantic , Wreaking havoc on the buildings and crops. As the farmer interviewed applicants for the job, he received A steady stream of refusals. Finally, a short, thin man, well past middle age, approached the farmer. 'Are you a good farm hand?' the farmer asked him. 'Well, I can sleep when the wind blows,' answered the little man. Although puzzled by this answer, the farmer, desperate for help, Hired him. The little man worked well around the farm, busy from dawn to dusk, and the farmer felt satisfied with the man's work. Then one night the wind howled loudly in from offshore. Jumping out of bed, the farmer grabbed a lantern and rushed next door to the hired hand's sleeping quarters. He shook the little man and yelled, 'Get up! A storm is coming! Tie things down before they blow away!' The little man rolled over in bed and said firmly, 'No sir. I told you, I can sleep when the wind blows.' Enraged by the response, the farmer was tempted to fire him on the spot. Instead, he hurried outside to prepare for the storm. To his amazement, he discovered that all of the haystacks had been covered with tarpaulins. The cows were in the barn, the chickens were in the coops, and the doors were barred. The shutters were tightly secured. Everything was tied down. Nothing could blow away. The farmer then understood what his hired hand meant, so he returned to his bed to also sleep while The wind blew. When you're prepared, spiritually, mentally, and physically, you have nothing to fear. Can you sleep when the Wind blows through your life? The hired hand in the story was able to sleep because he Had secured the farm against the storm. We secure ourselves against the storms of life by Grounding ourselves in the Word of God. We don't need to understand, we just need to hold His hand to have peace in the middle of storms. i am a griffin but my lover is a wind up toy. advice needed-? i've been sleeping with this boy for nearly a year. it began last autumn when i decided to find a person to nest with throughout the winter. this boy had never really intrigued me at a distance, but one drunk evening we found each other's bodies. from then on, we nearly lived together. it has been riddled with my doubts from the beginning. he is a quiet person, though despite his reticence, i have discovered many endearing characteristics. the sex is good...his affection and gradual attachment to me is comforting and pleasurable. i still do not feel he is quite the piston/lantern/collage/supernova/etc. of a lover that i have always sought. he is mostly a homebody, rarely spontaneous or motivated. unemployed. he wants to travel with me this winter but i doubt he will make enough money by then. i am somewhat dependent on the intimacy and the reassurance of another, and do like him very much. though it's the longer relationship i've been in & i am not in love. should i keep bothering? edit: *supernova was the word that was cut off *longest, not longer Here is the bottom line. How bright are LED wind-up lanterns? I've seen LED wind-up lanterns for sale. Can anyone give me a description of the level of brightness that they emit? Is there any way to compare their brightness with a xx Watt bulb (for example, do they have the brightness of a 40 Watt bulb, 20 Watt bulb )? Can these lanterns light up a room? Are they good enough for reading as a stand-alone light? Thanks in advance. ive used a few and the brightness differs by model. in my opinion, they provide a very minimal amount of light unless rigorously charged. I would equate one to probably a 15-watt bulb at best. don't expect it to light up a room or even be visible more than 6 feet away unless your in the pitch black dark.
