Does anyone know the expected markup, wholesale to retailers, for a new product, carjack/air compressor combo? I'm introducing a new product to the market in the US. It's an ElectroPneumatic Jack. Which basically means it's a car jack that works with an integrated air compressor to lift your car for you with the push of a button. The air compressor also gives you the option of inflating your tires if they are simply low on air instead. It has blinking hazard lights, as well as LED flashlight attached. Great product, but I really need to know what retailers expect to be able to markup the product in order to sell it. I keep hearing 30% - 40% is fine for our market, but I really need to get some answers for this because I know what the product is worth based on similar competitors, yet no one actually has anything like this and I need to find the sweet spot coming into the market. Please help with any information you may have concerning markups for retailers. Thank you so much! 30 %

Any other sites like this one? So there's the site called "dealextreme.com" that sells a bunch of cool wholesale stuff from knives to boob-shaped stressballs (great to leave on your teacher's desk!) It uses paypal so it's secure. Anyone know any other site like it? PS - It's wholesale (like $4 for 10 flashlights) cuz it's direct from China. Try ebay hahaha my dad has d & d figures, axis and allies, books stuff like that! But other people have stuff like that on there so maybe try that! That's all that comes to mind!

I might even open a corner store for my family to help run . but to find out how to contact real import exporters or even stuff for a corner store well I have no idea I have talked to friends and their like ,you would need thousands to do that. And i say . yeah got that And thats where the conversation ends.Or they say try the internet and I already know that will get me no place but yet I go shopping every day and see all of this stuff for sale but who would i call to actually get the stuff well beats me. Any help besides being recommended to go to the chamber of commerce website would be of great help. thanks. Your on the right track but, don't put down the Internet as a source for your wholesaler..
The Internet is full of middle men trying to profit off people like you who need to buy goods at cost for resale. Your job is to weed out the middle guy. This can be accomplished by simply asking the seller who they are and what they do! Yes, some will try to lie but again, that's your job. Find the true wholesale company. In my personal experience, most wholesale companies (manufacture) will set up an account for you, and in the beginning you will have to pay up front. And, you'll probably have to buy in bulk, instead of one item you might need to buy 10 or 100, depends on the product.
You will also need to have a federal resale license, they are cheap and easy to get. Good Luck!

What do you think of the "walk around guys"? in the part of the US where i live, there are these guys that show up every month or so. invariably, they want to "announce the new promotion" which really means they are walking around town reselling wholesale stuff that day. it could be flashlights, backpacks, books, pocket knives, whatever. sometimes i find them useful, as do my customers who happen to be around at the time. the ones we get are always curteous and even what they do is quite amusing. That's a curiosity I've not seen in my region, but it might be interesting, indeed. So long as they're amusing and not insistent on one's making a purchase, I see no harm.
