Does anyone know of a good free alternative to Vector Works for lighting purposes? VectorWorks is definitely the best and nothing will be as good as it, or ever come close. But, can anyone recommend a free alternative to this? I will primarily using such a program to create lighting plots. Thanks in advance! You could try this - Windows only, I'm afraid.

Vector works free trial? I have a current project during my architecture course at university and it requires us to use the program Vector Works. However I would prefer to do this task on my computer at home rather than sitting on the university computers for hours. Is there anyway of downloading like a free 30 day trial of the software as I know it is very very expensive to buy! I'm in the uk by the way Hi RJ
You can request a free of charge 30 day demo from www.unlimited.com/3ddesign. The website also contains a list of resellers in the 'buy now' section. The student license comes in one flavour - Designer/Renderworks - and the price is approximately £99 inc VAT. The license will time out after one year.

What does someone who works for Vector do? Are they like a salesperson? I was offered a job by Vector. They sell knives. Mainly kitchen and a few hunting. The drawback is you have to put a deposit on your knives and you are responsible for setting appointments to go show them. If you are motivated, and a self-starter then it can be a good job. I didn't end up working there though because at the time, I needed a guaranteed paycheck.

Any free vector program that works with a wacom tablet? I've already tried inkscape and they don't support tablet. neither does Gimp. I could download photoshop cs3 using torrent but I don't want to go to jail and it's wrong to steal. So, any freeware vector programs? GIMP isn't that bad. I have the Bamboo Fun, and while it does freeze on occasion, there are ways to avoid that. Basically, it freezes when you click off the GIMP window, then back on. You can avoid this by using a mouse or laptop touch pad to click back on the window before trying to use the pen again, or by not doing other things while drawing.
If it does freeze simply turn the pen around and tap the eraser end to the tablet. It may take a bit of this before it unfreezes. Click on the window(still with the eraser end) then bring the cursor to the edge of the computer screen, without clicking anywhere. Flip the pen around off screen and come back on from the same side. The program should work now.
Even if the cursor freezes the image can still be saved, so you won't lose anything.

Do you outsource your vector conversion / Digitizing service works or willing to do? what ur question is really abt??

Has any one used the Vector Vest Software and knows if it really works? They claim you can use this software and it tells when to buy/sell/hold signals and lots of people say it works I have used the software since 1998...although I certainly havent' achieved the level of success that they show on some of their ad's, I have been quite successful. One caveat, this is just a tool...You will have to develop your own processes to use it successfully. There is no holy grail, and like all products of this sort, you can develop systems that look like miracles in backtesting, but when applied to realtime trading they fall flat....this is due to your overoptimization and the markets inherent backwards bias (ie bad stocks get removed from the database over time) so all you are left with are "survivors"...

How is the vector conversion service works? I have lots of designs to be converted to vector file. And i was wondering whether i can get vector sample file before i pay and how is the vector conversion service works? If you have a lot of designs to be converted, I would suggest learning Adobe Illustrator, and converting them yourself, it would save you a ton of money over paying someone to do it.
And you usually can't see a sample of the vector conversion, because it takes a while to do it, so nobody is going to waste their time to convert it just to see if you'll like it. However most services have portfolios, so you can see their prior work.

How does this vector linear dependence formula work? I am told that c(vector) = m*a(vector) + n*b(vector) I am particularly struggling to visualize how this works for 3 dimension vectors. Any help would be much appreciated! Regards, James I'll try to rephrase and hopefully make it clearer
with A,B,C vectors
C is said to be a linear combination of A and B
when it is possible to 'form' C using A and B
so C = m*A + n*B
in 3D , two vectors A and B make up a plane just like in 2D
ANY vector C in that plane is linear dependent on A and B
