Over what speed can you get arrested in Texas & Why does my Bel Vector 955i sometime never pick up an signals? Bel vector 955i radar detector latest version bought in 2008. Is it because it's only $200 and not worth the quality of a $500 valentine one or is it because "they" have their radar guns or radar turned off (Clean Record - No speeding ticket or arrest ..thx to my bel vec :) In Texas, you can be hauled in for anything over 20 mph. Less if the officer doesn't like your attitude.
There are now so many different types of radar that no one detector can be depended on to pick them all up. On top of that, the radar has to be active to be picked up. If the officer is operating manually, the detector is useless until you have been had. And then, maybe radar isn't being used, it could be laser the officer has, which operates completely different.
Congrats on your clean record, but don't thank the bel. More likely you have just been darn lucky or you don't drive as much like a brainless fool as you think.
