help me!!!!?plz help any1 but especially ebay buyers or online shoppers!!!? I have ordered two airsoft guns online on ebay. I am in orlando florida. how long will ups flat rate shipping take to get here from southern california, if it was shipped yesterday? will it get here in a week? plz help me out my friend had the same gun and it was a totally awesome gun and i really want it. In Predator and Predator 2(Not the others)- how did producers obtain the thermal images? I am having trouble finding answers anywhere to this- was wondering if some of you guys would lend your brainpower to this. and a little Hollywood knowledge if possible. I'm familiar with the EM spectrum, and then some- I know What I'm talking about fairly enough. However, I'm confused by 2 major things regarding the early Predator Movies and thermal imaging- and I've struggled to come up with how some things came to be- #1. If you look at any Thermal Imaging camera today, handheld, or for thermography in general- you get a decently defined heat image.(I KNOW Mid and Far infrared waves are not truly "Heat" but bear with my improper terminology if you will) Now, the problem? In Predator , and Predator 2 (not the others)- it's not....I don't know how to put it. Crisp, perhaps. What you see is constantly.."moving"? When you look at a person, it's not...defined. (One example is below) Not like what a Mid or far infrared camera today would show. I wonder WHY this is- but i have kept in mind this was 1987 and 1990 respectively, and tech back then didn't have the processing power and resolution today.. (example: Here is the Predator 2 "Want some candy" scene(35 seconds long) involving the boy, the toy Uzi, and the Predator checking him out in IR while determining if the "weapon" he has is real or not. - Note how he appears- the Psuedo color IR, how defined the image is,the boy's eyes, for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrlYJmow5-E - far different from any such camera today(here's a 24 second long clip of one of raytheon's cameras being toyed with- note his EYES http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQPUzPXKRuU&feature=channel #2. My BIGGEST Question that has befuddled me for a decade- a certain scene in Predator 2. What I know- Producers used a real Thermal camera, a big one- perhaps Cooled. In the Movie the "Predator", when coming back to feed, heard Agent Keyes' men, then Switched it's spectrum modes, Until it could see the beams of light from their lights, AND the emitting end of the lights they were carrying. I cannot figure out HOW, this was done- you see,Agent Keyes' "plan" was for the dust to stick to the predator if it was cloaked, making it stand out in the warehouse filled with UV lights- while the men's "cooled suits" would keep any major contrast differences in heat from giving them away. I could nitpick about this scene, like how even their footsteps on the ground while walking would undergo miniscule heat conduction , or how the suit wouldn't be evenly the same ambient temperature, how the glass on their masks would probably appear different- if nothing else then from their breathing hot air against the glass, etc.. But actually- I am BEFUDDLED by this; When the Predator "switched vision modes" - it could see beams. in Midair, from the lights they were carrying. Now, it goes that "predators" can see in the entire EM spectrum, via "switching through the spectrum" On the Real Life side-the producers only had a giant Thermal camera- so how did they pull this off? To be able to see the beams of light in the AIR? I'm thinking the The colloid effect- tyndall effect - Must be the dust in the air scattering the light- wait, we can observe that from watching those men shine their flashlights around through air with DUST while wandering around. but how did the "Predator's new vision mode" - HOW did a thermal camera image that? The sensors on a thermal camera are opaque to visible light. And the light beams from those lights CANNOT heat up the air enough that it emits mid/far IR that can be seen like that. (air is slightly less opaque to IR than to visible) ...Whatever old fashioned 1990's thermal camera the movie guys used, must have been able to also take in visible light...but that explanation does not sit well with me. ...Since this question will be a lot easier if you have a visual, here, This is the scene I refer to when the predator somehow adjusts it's mask. The Thermal camera they were using can be adjusted in some manner, maybe ambience- maybe it's purposely put out of calibration.....something along those lines. #2. It's CGI , Fake, and I've had it wrong and should know you can't see heated air using Mid and Far IR. #3. It's Ultraviolet ....and a computer is involved in these scenes somehow as it's NO UV view like what you see if you get a digital camera and put on non-UV filters(and I'm not amateur- I know past a certain point UV cannot go through oxygen - air is opaque to it, so there' I do note that the lights are probably hot and .. .technically SHOULD appear when the Predator first looks down at the meathouse (i'm aware they could fake this by not having the men in the scene when the thermal camera looks down) But if the men were in the scene, - i question why the lights didn't show up in it's thermal vision - until it switched to a different part of the spectrum. Wanted to re-note that hot air can't be seen- although not quite for the same reason you or i probably can't see air- after a certain distance looking through air it scatters light a bit- but we'd see it through reflection, refraction. In IR- we'd see it ..corresponding to the mid or Far (not near- near IR is just like visible light) IR that it EMITS Except, then thermal cameras wouldn't work for the same reason they can't see through water- you see the water RIGHT in front of the camera- You can't see "heat trails" of people because body heat doens't heat up air enough that it leaves a neccessairly h
