Why do the police in the UK have to use their sirens all the time? When I was a kid, hearing a police siren was a really rare occurence. It was used for true emergencies only. Nowadays the police sirens are heard non stop all day long, where I live in London. Yes, crime has increased since I was a kid about 20 years ago, but I do not believe that true emergencies have increased that dramatically. If every call the police respond to is treated as an emergency with wailing screeching sirens then nothing is an emergency. People don't even look up anymore when they hear the siren, it is so common place. I believe in the vast majority of cases the use of the siren is unnecessary, and is only being used as a way of police drawing attention to the fact that they are busy and responding to calls..''look, we're tackling crime, we're hitting our targets''! Coppers don't walk the streets anymore, so that's there way of letting you know they are working. Noise polluting screeching pigs, every morning, noon and night 24/7 - will someone give the c**nts an Asbo I think the issue is that there are more CARS and traffic lights now then when you were a kid, and that's the reason you hear more sirens.
Here in Ontario, Canada we are required by law to sound sirens when going through stop signs or intersections with red lights.
I think you need to calm down a little and buy a pair of ear plugs.

Are there any Police Sirens that are battery operated and can be used without all the wires? Sir, Police Sirens are only for Officers. You can still buy one they might be hard to find now that the stores require the customer to be an verified personnel of Law Enforcement. But also buying one and not being with Law Enforcement will get you an hefty fine.
Also I'm not sure what your intent is for one but I'm sure it's not good.

Is it legal to have police sirens/ lights in my car? I found a car that used to be a police car for sale, it is repainted and legal but it still has the lights, sirens, and a PA System. I want to know if it is legal to drive around, I won't be using it while driving I really would just think it is cool to have in there to show friends. I live in Georgia by the way. Forgot to say, it doesn't have the roof lights/siren it is more like an undercover cop would have with lights attached to the rear and front windows. The law would probably hinge on the intent. Many people have restored antique cars to resemble old police cars , and drive them to car shows without a problem . The amount of "crap" that you could get into , will out weigh the largest amount of "cool" that your pals could show

I have a 2003 Crown Vict that used to be a police car that has holes in the top where the sirens used to be? Like I said I have a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria that was once a Police car and it has holes on the top where the sirens used to be. My questions are these. What happens if I never get this fixed? How will rain or snow affect it? Where could I go to get this fixed? How much would it cost? And is there a way that I could fix it myself and have it look nice? I am looking for people who know what they are talking about. Please Help. there really is nothing cheap that you can do that will look nice although if you can do simple sheet metal work you could make a small patch and epoxy in place and then paint it with a spray can of your color code. at least the raindrops will stop falling on your head. a body shop visit will probably cost a couple hundred dollars and if you do nothing , it will rust and leak inside mold the carpet maybe cause a short circuit good luck those police crown vics are fun to drive.

Are there any police officers on here who have used the sirens or lights just to cut though traffic or a light Where I live the cops seem to do it quite often. Its kinda obvious too, all of a sudden the sirens go on then they get through the lights or traffic and then they turn of the sirens How do you know the officer was not going somewhere and had to get through the light. You don't. Just because they turned the lights off on the other side of the intersection does not mean he was not going somewhere.
Example 1. Officer is responding to an emergency call that does not according to his operating procedures require him to travel with lights and sirens on. However it does allow him to "bust" and intersection with his lights and sirens.
Example 2. Officer is going code (Lights and sirens)to a call and goes through the intersection. Once on the other side he get called to stand down the situation is under control. So the officer reduces code and turns off lights and sirens.
Example 3. Officer is going code to a call. As he gets close to the location he reduces code due to the fact that he does not want to alert the bad guys he is around the corner.
Example 4. Heavy traffic. When an officer turns on his lights and sirens it cause other drivers to act very stupid. If the officer was to travel with lights and sirens on he stood a better chance of causing a traffic accident then if he used them just to go through the intersections.
Are you one of those people that whine and complain about cops using their lights to get through an intersection and then cry when the police do not respond in what you consider a reasonable amount of time.
