When you look at something under ultra violet light, what are you actually seeing? You can't be seeing ultra violet light, because our eye/brain doesn't see it. So what is going on? So what we see under an ultra violet light is not at all what would be visible to an eye/brain that can actually see ultra violet. It is just where it happens to make something fluoresce. I presume an IV sensitive camera changes the IV input into a wavelength that is visible, so you can see an impression of what's there. ??? Usually, the UV causes some material to radiate light in the visible spectrum and that's often what you can see, but what you see in the original actual light is Infra-Violet. That is you often see a violet colour in the lamps.
Either that or your seeing it remotely using a camera that can detect UV.
{edit; Poor Physics alert!!} If I remember correctly when light is absorbed it can affect the electron shells around the atom, by 'lifting' an electron to a higher valency. These are often unstable and will fall back to a stable state. This results in the emission of light. Sorry it's a long time since I thought about this and apologies for inaccuracies.

Your right the camera can detect UV radiation. (An X Ray images is just photographic material that can detect X-Rays, much more invisible than UV. ). It's just shown in black and white, or by a different colour on the image that's being shown.

How much more does a Ultra Violet black light tattoo cost? I want to get a ultra violet black light tattoo, and i was wondering how much more it would cost than a regular tattoo. Usually 50-200% more. You MUST find one of the few artists with plenty of experience with this stuff for it to look right/least scarring(the ink may not show up but ugly scars sure will).
Also as a person with about $1300 in UV tattoos. I can tell you its a gimick and other than bowling alleys and clubs its pretty much a waste of cash.

In a pond filter is the ultra violet light supposed to strobe? I have been fixing my pond filter and noticed the ulra violet light is intermittant, is it suposed to be or should it be on continually No, it should be constant. Unplug your filter when working on it, you may just have a loose connection. RScott
