Brighter, cooler sustitute for a small base 40w G type light bulb? I have a miniature tiffany style lamp, is there anything brighter than a 40w incadescent bulb? it's a small G type. Something that won't draw more amps? Have you looked at the new LED lights that are new on the market. They are expensive to buy but look really nice. I would also look at Home Depot or Lowe's as they both have a great selection of bulbs. Good Luck

What type of light bulb is in the 1997 toyota camry rear brake light? I took a bulb in the tail light compartment out but don't know if it's the right one to replace, I have taken out the bulb with the label on it: 12V W5W E1... is this the correct one to replace since my brake light is out? you can also look in the owners manual ,and it will give you the exact number of the bulb it uses,it actually tells about all the bulbs in it and the fuses,good luck with it.

What type of light bulb do I have? This bulb was in a lamp that someone gave me. I like the light it produces and want to buy more for my other lamps. What type of bulb is this, it doesn't have the wire thing inside, but a strange shaped inner bulb instead. http://img535.imageshack.us/i/bulb.jpg/ The bulb glass is a little cloudy so it is harder to tell. The inside kind of looks like a Mercury Vapor lamp. But, the base appears to be a "B" base (a.k.a. Candelabra base). I'm not aware of a Merc. Vapor with this kind of base. I also know that the Mercury Vapor lamps are being phased out in the U.S.A.
I do have doubts that this is a Mercury Vapor lamp, though. I do think that it is some form of incandescent lamp.
The best way would be to check the brass base. Usually, there will be identification info stamped into it. If you can get this info and update your post, I'm sure that someone can identify it.

Does it matter what type of light bulb I use? I have a lamp that says i should use type B bulbs but I've been using type G bulbs. I had a bulb blow not while I was turning on the lamp, but while it was still on. I also have difficulty getting the light bulb into the socket, like it doesn't quite fit. From the picture you shoud definitely be using the bulb that is called for in your lamp.

I am using compact fluorescent bulbs,they are those swirly energy efficient bulbs. some have different color light spectrums ( day light,cool white,natural) but it doesn't really matter for you. I don't know the circumstances of your herb garden, the size, the plants etc. but more light might be required. To get the most light to the plants line the area with tin foil, and get a reflector so no light is wasted. That you don't have a high power bill get a timer for the lights, set it to 18/6 (18 hours of light and 6 of dark like summer). have a fan close by or shake the plants to strengthen their stems so the don't become spindly and keep the light at max 3 inches away

A typical 100 watt incandescent A19 bulb produces 1260 lumens and has an average life of 750 hours. A 23 watt compact fluorescent produces 1600 lumens and has an average life of 8000 hours.
If you want to spend the money, since compact fluorescents are expensive, buy one or two every other week and gradually replace all your lights.

Is there any way to tell what type of light bulb I have? I got a 10 gal aquarium with a hood and light at a salvation army. Is there any way to tell what kind of light bulb it is? Most Aquaria lights are tubular, and about 18 watts,or they heat the water too much. Take the bulb or fixture to your local HD electrical associate!
Ah! A small fluorescent, indeed. Most of them emit plenty of UV for the plants. Again, Home Depot has one!

Flourescents will give you the most, which is why they are the most efficient form of lighting. Halogens and LED's come in between.

Is there a type of light bulb that can be run off of a 9-volt battery? I've been looking for one for a while and I can't seem to find a conclusive answer. I don't want anything too expensive and I want it to run normally off of it without a lack of brightness. If there is, is there a special way that you have to hook the battery to the bulb? Thanks. It also can't break if there is extra voltage added because I'm experimenting to see if adding a homemade hydrogen fuel cell to it will increase its efficiency. Yes - depending on what you want to do with it. You can stop at Radio Shack and pickup 12v bulbs which will be a bit dim or 6v bulbs which will be bright, but may not last too long. There are also LED attachments that clip to 9 volt batteries to make tiny flashlights.
For the bulbs, just hook one battery terminal to the side of the bulb and the other battery terminal to the end of the bulb - unless your bulb has two end terminals in which case you would use them. Polarity (+ or -) doesn't matter with a regular light bulb.
There are also 9 volt bulbs but they aren't as common. I have no experience with the link below so buyer beware.
