I've been trying to figure out what the U.S. exports, besides weaponry. Our "allies" are ideologically diverse, consider Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Pakistan: A. Q. Khan, Al Queda entrenched in the military, Taliban staging areas and nemesis to India. Saudi Arabia, Usama bin Ladin and the 911 crews and the Wahhabi. Saudi Arabia's ruling family and their commitment to aiding the Sunni minority in Iraq. From where are some "insurgents" coming? The Sunni's are the ones who are outnumbered, not the Kurds or Shia's. The U.S. sold arms for hostages under Reagan; so, why not now? Everything has a price, all buyers are welcome.

Why did European settlers succeed while Mayans failed to flourish in Mesoamerica? How come the Mayan and Aztec system failed (other than drought) while settlers flourished in the same locations? eauropean and middle eastern cultres had been engaging in war and trade for millenia.
this increases their versatility and knowledge, they would feed off each other. their were multiple south american and american indigineous tribes and were thus able to gain "some technology" and grow amongst each other, but ultimately their knowledge in comparison to ero nations was slim, thus their invasion.
this also happend in australia, but their indigenous culture was not exposed to other tribes and thus the aboriginal culture did not change or develop technologicallly in any way for 40 000 years!
settler brought simple knowledge in ways of addapting to changing climates. since nature always changes and european settlers had been exposed to the deserts of persia, marshes of england, etc they new how to survive in differnet climates more effectively then the Mayans whom had not experienced change
EDIT: i have to say, the spanish invaders spread the diseases, it did not just magically appeare.. since the indiginous were not exposed to such sickness, they had no natural imune system. Mnay did die from the spanish spreading disease.

How is a fullyautomatic weapon obtained? I know some guns at the gun range who converted weapons to automatic (legally with atf) and one man has a m60 machine gun it was a surplus (rarely used more for show buit used once in a while) He told me the gun cost around 11k in 1996 and like 1200 a year to keep lincensed is this true?? I've seen gun auctuions with prices in 20k ranges i mean can you still own one of theses without speding a lot of money? Pathfinder has is right. The local police have to sign for you. To have that happen you would have to be someone. Older, seriously known to the community, knock some elbows with the local politicians, donate money, be seriously established, etc. with some sort of combination of such things.
For the average guy or even one one with some money will find simply purchasing the weapon expensive. You will need the paperwork in order to just buy it and the guy selling it is probably not going to wait while you square this away...... unless you are paying big bucks.
It is not a poor man's hobby to have automatic weapons. And while collecting and for show is all fine and well an automatic version is not really helpful. A semi in well practiced hands in far more effective than an auto in ill practiced ones.

Which surplus weapon to buy next? I have already bought a WWI M95 Steyr Stutzen carbine, but the ammo is expensive, and these rifles aren't regarded for there accuracy lol. Looking for something under $250. 91/30's are everywhere, so looking for something different than that, always can get one later, unless it is a early one, special markings etc. Or if it was of Exceptional quality. Open to all weapon suggestions Are there any places to buy M44's as surplus anymore? Agreed, the Swiss K31's have a reputation for being extremely accurate military rifles, if i saw one of those for sale, for around the $300, I would snag it. I wouldn't mind expensive ammo if it was a tack driver I haven't seen the M44 on the wholesale/reseller market for probably over a year. I still see them now and again at Gander Mountain stores in the Midwest for about $150.
Personally, I am a fan of the K-31 rifle. I own two of them and really like them. There was been quite a few that have hit the reseller markets lately. J&G has their low end Beech stocked K-31s on sale for $200 right now. Their "very good" grade beech stock K-31s are only $220 right now. There are still a ton of M91/30s on the market. Classic Arms have a batch of the early Dragoon Era rifles. One of those will set you back $120 plus shipping and transfer http://www.classicarms.us/firearms.htm. If you are looking for a plain vanilla 91/30, check J&G again. they have them starting at $70.
Personally, I've been tempted to get a Yugo Mauser (since the German K-98s have dried up). Samco Global has the best price on those https://www.samcoglobal.com/1-M24-47.html . The only other surplus rifle I have seen in quantity lately is the WW2 British Enfields. Classic Arms have them for about $200 a piece (sorry, have a few of those already as well, so I haven't been following them closely). I think they are a great rifle and I have a Gibbs rework I use for deer hunting).

Is there any weapons choice in the Army? I know that nowadays most regular troops are given M4 carbines or occasionally the M16A4, but if a particular soldier wanted to use an M14 and there were surplus available, would he be allowed to, or can he only use the weapon he is assigned? The M14 is only used now as a modified gun for sniping, so I guess it wouldn't be too practical for infantry. The fourth answer makes sense about the ammo supply and maintaining the weapons. Yes there is choice. The Army will chose which weapon you are issued based on your specific assignment within the inifantry squad/platoon/company. Who gets what is laid out in U.S. Army Field Manual FM 7-8 Infantry Squad and Platoon.

why is israel supplying military surplus to azerbaijan? they are supporting azerbaijan with alot of weapons. Money. They have petro dollars and want first class armaments. The area is a gold rush for arms merchants. The Azerbaijanism also share a border with Iran, and are afraid of the Persians. It is the old ''The enemy of my enemy is my friend" . The Israelis would gain access to listening stations that could monitor Iranian traffic, and possibly the use of Azeri Airports.
