FAQ about Sure Fire Flashlights

I think there's a wild dog eating birds outside of my window. I'm not sure what to do and its dark out.? Is this something I call the local fire department? It sounds like a dog is breathing with difficulty and then I'll hear a sharp scream, from like a bird. I don't want to bother the local police department and my flashlight is broken. It goes quiet for a bit then it starts breathing hard again and I'll hear a yell. I'm in an apartment complex and I think all my neighbors are asleep. I labeled this as Men's Health as a joke, because I'm concerned for my health. What is your problem? Why do you feel the need to interfere with a dog eating a bird? Its not even bothering you. Ok so i'll tell you what to do....go to sleep and stop worrying about the dog.
Do you really think this is a big enough problem to call the police about? Its not against the law for a dog to eat a bird, you know.
And your flashlight's broke? what are you going to do? go outside and do what? Get bit and get rabbis?

Determining whether Mexican Fire Opal is natural or created? Without having to consult a gem appraiser? Something I should look for? I bought a small fire opal a couple of years ago in St. Maarten, already faceted, medium orange-colored and eye-clean. It has a very slight milky appearance when viewed under a bright light such as an LED flashlight. The larger, trillion-cut fire opal I recently purchased in Mexico (and paid a lot less for, although I think that's because this was set in silver whereas the first one was set in 14K white gold) has a richer color, has a better cut, eye-clean, and has no milkiness whatsoever. I tried lightly tapping the surface of both gems to see if there was any noticeable difference in the 'ping' noise, but they're pretty much both the same. The larger stone has a bit more 'tap' to it than the smaller, but I'm sure the stone size and setting have something to do with that. I tapped against a piece of quartz just for comparison, and neither of my opals sounded like the quartz did. So, aside from glass, is there a way to create a synthetic Mexican Fire Opal? I know it's possible to create some halfway decent fakes of other kinds of opals, but haven't been able to find much about lab-created Mexican opals. I haven't been keeping the older, smaller opal wet, but I never clean it (except for an occasional dry-wipe with a cleaning cloth), and make sure I keep it semi-oily and 'moist' from my hands and from wearing it on a chain. I was always told to never clean an opal, that it's best to let your body oils 'seal' the porous surface to keep them from drying out and cracking. are you letting the fire opal get wet ( room temp water- NOT ever hot) at least once a month to help retain its brilliance?
opals of all varieties have been synthesized experimentally and commercially. The discovery of the ordered sphere structure of precious opal led to its synthesis by Pierre Gilson in 1974.
The resulting material is distinguishable from natural opal by its regularity; under magnification, the patches of color are seen to be arranged in a "lizard skin" or "chicken wire" pattern.
Synthetics are further distinguished from naturals by the former's lack of fluorescence under UV light. Synthetics are also generally lower in density and are often highly porous.
dont smack your opal real or fake against a hard surface- it can shatter

My wife isn't very supportive of my ambitions; why can't she just be a little more supportive and positive? See, I am an amateur inventor, and I have had many good ideas over the years, but my wife has never tried to support one of my ideas, or express any sort of confidence in me. This really hurts me, especially since it is so obvious that I try so hard. I need her to invest some money to get one of my inventions off the ground, since she is the one who works, but she never has anything good to say about my ideas. Some examples: She told me that my idea for a solar-powered flashlight was the stupidest thing she had ever heard of. I was just crushed. I think that we could be millionaires if she had just invested in my idea, but she demolished that dream. She also didn't like my idea for a microwave self-cleaning bedpan; she said it was dangerous! Can you believe that?! It was a goldmine just waiting to be tapped, but she squashed all my hopes for it, and wouldn't invest a dime. I had been inspired once when I saw a business that had torn out all of their fiberglass insulation, and got to thinking about a way to recycle it all. My idea: recycle all that fiberglass into pretty, bright pink maxi pads. Did she think this was a winner? Hell no! She told me to expect to be celibate for a month over that one. She had a similar reaction to my idea for a vise-grip breast pump. I thought that this would be a real boon to women everywhere, as it would squeeze out a lot of milk in record time, but she just couldn't bring herself to admit it was a good idea. More celibacy for Jack over that one. I got to thinking of ways to help make potty-training easier, but when I unveiled my idea for a line of flavoured toilet papers, she just rolled her eyes and said I was "no Dr. Spock." I don't understand her Star Trek reference, but a lot of what she says doesn't make sense to me as it is. Finally, I had a sure-fire winner, a practical and cultured way to deal with those who have a problem with flatulence: the rectal harmonica. Do you think she saw just how great this idea was? Once again, nope. I sort of think she is jealous because she is married to a genius, and so she just likes to put me down constantly. What can I do to get her to be more supportive? Why do you insist on displaying our private life for everyone to see????
Just because I make a couple of comments that your time might be better spent on a REAL job instead of making me have to work three of them in order to support your "vision", as well as our 7 children and 4 dogs, 2 cats and 3 snakes all of which you just HAD to have.. does NOT mean I enjoy this kind of humiliation.
I balked at these because you wanted ME to be your guinea pig.. and no, I am NOT going to the pet store to buy you some of those.. I have to put my foot down somewhere, Jack.. this is just ridiculous.
As for the rectal harmonica.. I only suggested that YOU try it out yourself, since you happen to be so full of it.

fire department, mystery question? Ok well i was just curious about this but here i go So last night a fire truck came (not sure if it was a truck or engine) and they went about two houses down from mine. They didn't like rush or anything like there was a fire, 2 people walked out with flashlights and went into 2 peoples backyards. Also a police car drove down my street and flashed a flash light out the window like they were looking for something. Then they kind of went around the corner, but i could still see them (kind of hard to explain) and i was thinking there might be something over in the woods (right by there) I was watching them and i saw the 2 men with the flashlights walking in the woods again. Also i saw (idk if it was a flame or not) but this like orange-ish light kind of showed up and then dissapeared after about 1 minute. Then after the fire truck left, a person walked out of the woods. It was about 11:00 pm so, does that have anything to do with it? Also today there are a lot of trucks on my street and they are going into the woods and cutting down some trees? I'm not sure but i just wanted to know what might be going on. No rude answers, thanks. edit:there are no power lines but there are some houses close to the woods so maybe they smelled gas. It is possible, maybe even probable that the fire department was looking into a situation that was thought to be a dangerous situation. Maybe some one smelled gas or perhaps even the limbs of trees hitting against power lines.
The police will show up just to check on the situation and look to see if there might be someone doing something that they shouldn't be doing

Sure Fire flashlights! Where do you get the balls to charge 130$ for a flashlight? Does this thing light your way home? icing: I guess I'm really juist curious what makes these lights so damn good? I don't get the luminers thing. what does that light up? I'm used to something different. I wanna know what I'm getting. They're extremely well, made, sure,
....but 130.00$? I don't think so.
40.00$.....maybe.
If all you need is something bright that will fit in 1"rings,
if I were you, I'd examine the off-brands of tactical flashlights and weapon lights.
They're virtually identical to Surefire.
The first answerer needs to realize that most folks don't have 500.00 to spend on flashlights. Did he make his wife and kids do without to make these extravagant purchases?
Regardless of what he states, the Surefire lights cost the company less than 20.00$ to make. "Just because they can"
has never been a viable excuse for price gouging. That's the same reason dope dealers charge anough to milk addicts dry. That's the reason gas prices will one day soar to 5.00$ and 10.00$ a gallon......I guess he won't mind the gas companies charging him 130.00$ to fill up his tank.....just because they CAN.
Don't be suckered in by claims of superiority by a company that buys it's light sources and switches outsourced like everybody else. Besides the light-source (bulb, LED or array), and the switch, the thing is nothing but an aluminium tube with two caps, a lens, a couple of rubber "o" rings, and a couple of springs.
The real reason they charge so much is that they have so many police and military contracts, and these two types of organizations are famous for overpaying for equiptment.
Before you call me a liar,
...Remember the 600.00$ toilet seat and the 400.00$ hammers?
I've examined examples of both of these infamous overexpendatures personally.
Would the fools that approved paying those amounts for those items also approve paying over 130.00$ for a flashlight?
Whatta you think?
(I notice DSA inc. has a lithium tactical flashlight for 39.95 and "Famous Maker" (off-brand) sells one for 29.95, with 1" rings included. )
And yes, the Surefire will light your way home,

Sure fire flashlight questions? im looking for a sure fire flashlight with lumens anywhere from 80 to 200 (i know thats a big space) but thre are so many flashlights. not looking to spend more than 200 dollars. if you have had sure fire flashlights before please add input. ones i am kinda looking at are the: 6p LED 6p LED Defender (same just a defence thing on tip) E1L outdoorsman L4 Lumamaxl5 Lumamax and LX2 lumamax. using for camping around house ect I used to really like surefire flashlights, but have found their short battery life a bit impractical for camping use. They are great for short bursts of light for defense or tactical use.
For camping or around the house, I find that a compact rechargeable light is the best bet. Look into the Fenix flash lights, or Nite Cores if you want something compact. LED lights have great battery life, and Sanyo Eneloop batteries hold there charge for quite a while when they are not in use, unlike most other rechargeable batteries that drain pretty quickly on the shelf.

what flash light do navy seals use? is it sure fire or mag light i was camping and seen the brightest light i was wondering i seen many 200 lumens flashlight but i dont want no fake ones i want to know which is the ones seals use ....the one with the rabbit on it......

Not a lot more I can say about it that Surefire.com doesn't cover, but I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if mine ever broke. The battery life is a LOT longer on the LED version Surefires. I've owned a couple now, and the normal bulbs suck batteries down like crazy. I'd definitely recommend going LED for that reason alone.

driving home Halloween night. It is raining. Children and adults strung across the road.On party blinds me.? with a sure fire flashlight beam..Stop my jeep and tell the people to knock it off. Back in jeep and blinded again with flashlight..Get fully out of jeep and scream and yell motherfucker get the flashlight out of my eyes...I am punched in face and bruised on all four sides of my body... The gang tells police we all fell to the ground?/ How do you get bruised on four sides of body from a fall? Fall four times??/ Why would they be all over the road on a rainy night? Why would they have a flashlight with that much power??? Why the story of falling? Why the story of being drunk? Tell me another story!!-

How is this runaway plan? 1. Reread info at http://www.wilderness-survival.net/ 2. Plan on location where you want to go (I chose Florida. Currently living in Rhode Island) 3. Pack bags three nights ahead of time, and store the equipment in the shed (so it blends in). Pack : Food, money, water, tent, flashlights, knives, pillows, sheets, compass, matches, maps, etc 4. On the night, don't go to sleep, just wait.. Leave at exactly 1:15 AM Eastern Time under certain circumstances. 5. Hike to the nearest wooded area, and travel south, at least until daybreak. (Make sure you can see the highway from the woods, but make sure the cars don't see you) 6. Keep a happy mind. Think about the climate and the smell of the warm palm trees when you get there. 7. Double check on your location every couple of hours. ( I suggest having a printed map) 8. Now it's time to stop traveling at night and set camp up at dusk. (Don't have a fire, remember your still near the highway, so, you don't get lost. You don't want anyone to see you. 9. Alright, you made it to Georgia... You're almost there! 10. When you get to Florida, make camp in a woods that is close to a market and close to a pond, so, you can fish once in a while. (There is no good woods in the cities) 11. Make sure people can't see a fire through the woods. Make sure your far enough from airports so planes can't see you. Refer to (http://www.wilderness-survival.net/) 12. Setup the tent! And enjoy your life of living with nature! At least until you 18 13. Oh if you choose a tropical region, make sure you take a vacation once in a while, you know somewhere up North more, mainly during hurricane season. Trust me, your tent will be dead. 14. Depending on your age, get a job around 18. You will need the extra income. 15. Then, once you have enough money, you can buy a cottage or something. 16. Good Luck~! As a plan it sounds fine but what is the point of it? Are you going to write a story around the plan or is it just to encourage would be runaways? Are you sure you are in the right section with this question?

When s the last time you cleaned your flashlight!? I mean really cleaned it Well this is kinda a funny story. I m not ashamed to say I was acting like a typical guy and thought I knew more than I did. I had posted a video earlier about a problem with my FENIX PD30 flashlight, my favorite one and I was sad to have to send it off for repair. Also I was a little disappointed since I had just talked it up so much to X4CTO as he just acquired one of these. The moral to the stoory, and the video, is make sure you ve followed all the instructions, and sometimes the customer service rep does know what they re talking about. In the end, Im happy its working now, and Im sure this will and has to others so I hope I can enlighten them haha, ya. Heres the link to the first video I made right before I plugged the hole in my head. I was bummed out. www.youtube.com

Smith Wesson M P 15 Review Before this video was made, the rifle was checked to make sure the chamber was clear and safe, shown at the end of the video Review in Description Below: I made this video to review the Smith and Wesson M P OR (optics ready) AR 15 rifle. Before i bought this rifle, i searched around on youtube and did not find much on this particular rifle, so hopefully this video will help out or give those interested a better idea of what to expect and what can be done to the rifle. So far i am very pleased with my decision to go with the OR (optics ready) version of the M P 15, since i had the intentions of modifying it from the start. The rifle is a little on the heavy side now, however i mainly use this one for bench target shooting. The scope shown in the video was placed ontop just to give an idea of what a scope ontop would look like. I have a Nikon Buckmaster with a Burris PEPR mount on the way. Yankee Hill flip up sights will be added later on. Removing the old gas block was not fun at all.. however if you keep at it, the pins will come out with the correct punch. Remember the roll pin is tapered, so it has to be removed from the correct side. I had to spray a bunch of liquid wrench onto the gas block roll pin area to get mine to budge at all. The replacement Yankee Hill clamp style gas block is working perfectly! I am very happy with my decision to go with the clamp on vs set screw style. I used red locktite to secure the two allen clamp screws. The screws are quality, you
