Need help for a good bar mitzvah idea? I'm having a bar mitzvah and need help. My brother(11) wants a sporty theme, skateboard, tennis, pingpong, my dad wants all tennis, and my mom just wants whatever we want. The problem is, I'm not into sports and themes. I just like a party kinda thing. DJ, strobe lights, glow sticks, dance floor, and just having fun. it's a boy/girl party at the Hilton and it's kinda confusing. I want something we can all work with. Why does part of light bar on police car go out while radio is keyed up? I have a whelen 9m edge series strobe light bar on my patrol car. The two way radio antenna is mounted on the roof behind the light bar about 20" from the light bar. When my light bar is turned on, when the radio mike is keyed up to talk, most of the lights go out on my light bar, until the mike is unkeyed. Anyone have any explanation for this or how it can be fixed? It has been reported to supervisor and chain of command. All the 2009 and 2008 models do it. They wont spend the money to fix it, even though it is a serious safety hazard when in an emergency response or a pursuit. I was told that the radio interference from the antenna is overpowering the circuit board on the light bar, but I am wondering if it is an issue with the way the two are grounded or the way the wires are run. Our previous cars didn't have this problem. I read somewhere that light bars need to be grounded on a separate circuit from the radio. How does one do this? Seems to me everything grounds to the vehicle body. Talk to your maintenance guys. Radio shouldn't affect the light bar.

Are hidden,non strobe, RED, LED lights legal in a truck grill? I bought a pair of LED strobe lights but I want to cut the box and put a switch so I can have a, controllable, constant red light. I want to put a light in my chrome westin bull bar and one in my grill. My truck looks nothing like a police car and I do not want the lights to blink what so ever,Is this legal? And I'm In Arizona red lights on the FRONT of a truck probably not legal or a good idea.

I have my own business. I know its illegal to have any combination of blue and red. I know this guy who wants to give me a great deal on red/white strobe bar lights but wasn't sure if it was legal. How do you change flash pattern on Whelen 9M Strobe Light bar? I know the instruction manual says to momentarily apply 12V to the "appropriate socket on the power supply". How do you know what the appropriate socket is and knowing that, what do you use or how do you apply 12V momentarily to change the flash pattern? Also, on a 8 strobe head model light bar, can you change out the front halogen flashers for inboard strobe tubes without having to rewire anything? ssd

Green Light bars? Hello everyone, I work at a steel plant and am looking at switching our green strobe light bars to green LED lightbars. But I'm having a problem finding green LED lightbars. I've looked through all the normal websites, I've called places and no one can tell me where I can find green light bars that are LED. Can someone with experiance help me out? Does anyone know a tutorial for making strobe light effects on PHOTOSHOP.? Im editing some pics from my school prom, and i want to add light effects. Take some pics of some lights, or do a creative commons search in flickr for "stage lights" and download the image. Open your original image, create a new layer - paste the pic of the lights onto that layer, change the layer mode to muliply, or overlay, or soft light, until you get the effect you desire.

What are strobe lights and does it freeze motion? What are strobe lights? I don't want definitions from wikipedia and what not, I don't get them. I read that they make something in motion appear as if it's stationary during that flash of light, is that true? If someone was in a bar dancing and there are strobe lights producing regular flashes, although the person is in constant movement, would that person seem to pause in a certain move for a longer period of time thanks to the flash? Strobe lights are light sources that produce an extremely brief flash of light - around 1/1000 second or less. The flash might be one-time (as in a camera flash), repeating based on a timer, triggered by peaks in sound, or triggered by other things, but the common feature is the very brief flash.
As for "freezing motion" - it depends on what the strobe is doing and on what the motion is.
If you have a relatively dark room with someone dancing, and you fire a strobe ONCE, you will see the person's position at the instant the strobe fires - just like a still photograph.
If the person is just randomly dancing and you start a repeating strobe, you will see a series of "still frames" of the person in various positions. The motion does not actually stop, of course, but since it is only lit during brief instants you don't see the movement "in between" the flashes. Persistence of vision allows you to see these very brief "frames" for longer than the strobe's actual duration.
If a person is making a repeating movement -- always coming back to the same position in a fixed amount of time, as in, for example, calisthenics - and you set the strobe to fire at those moments, then to your vision it will seem that the person is not moving, not changing position, at all.
A related effect is the "wagon wheel effect" seen in movies.

Also LED and strobe will have longer bulb life than the others.
We switched over to strobes many years ago, eliminating the problem of constantly having dead batteries
