How long will a ten dollar 'shake it' led flashlight last under these conditions? (see details)? I would like to use it on a 30-60 minute walk, 5 nights a week. It would be on pretty much all the time during the walk, so I guess I will be shaking it alot. Anyways, I'm wondering if anyone can give an educated guess as to it's approximate lifespan, when being used this much. Thanks. If it is a shake led, it should last for years with no problems.

Failed Shake Flashlight? i had these materials. 2 electrolytic capacitors 6.3v, 1500 uf. 1 bridge rectifier the symbols says W005, led bulb and all the others needed in making the flashlight. (reference: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1188358/shake_flashlight_you_wont_need_to_buy_batteries_never_again/) i did the steps according to what was on the video but it didn't work. here is how i understood the circuit diagram. i connected both capacitor to form a series then soldered it to thebridge rectifier minding the polarities. then i connected the ends of the coil i made to the ~ sign of the bridge rectifier. then i connected the positive insulated wireof the led to the positive side of the series capacitor. then i did the same to the negative insulated wire and connected it to the negative side of the capacitor. unfortunately. it didn.t work what was wrong? was it my materials because i didn.t really follow what was required. or was it how i did the coil winding because i think i did it pretty badly because i didn't quite get how it was done. and can somebody tell me how to do the coil winding correctly? hope somebody can help because i badly need this to be finished this Friday. thanks a lot! BTW, what i did for the coil winding was : i set a side some length on one side and started wwind fr5om the center of the tube. then when i reached an inch of a wound coil, i measured three inches of wire and set it on the other side then cut it. then i proceeded to the next layer. i did it the same way i did the first layer but i did not cut the end on the other side and just continued on the next layer. is that alright? i did it this way until the fourth layer. Questions: I. Was it right to cut the wire at the first layer? II. After i finished the first layer, am I supposed to set aside an allowance of wire then proceed to the next layer without cutting it.? III. If i did not cut it, there would be a wire that will go across the coil. Is that fine? IV. In connecting the rectifier and the coil, is okay to do it at random sides or do the coil still have Positive and Negative Poles? I dare say that everyone was facinated by a flashlight at some point in their lives and played with one for hours on end. That is, of course, until the batteries ran out, at which time the flashlight wasn't very facinating at all. Well, what i'm wondering is, while the batteries were dying and the light was much dimmer than it would be if the batteries were full power, whenever you shook the flashlight, did it dim even more, only to return to it's original state of dimness whenever you stopped? Believe it or not, the findings of this question actually have a practical value. i am still playing with flashlights and i always assumed that shaking the flashlight shook the batteries out of place dimming the light coming out

Does anyone own a hand crank flashlight or flashlight you shake to generate power? Do these work well? Would like to buy a flashlight that doesn't use any batteries. I had problems of leaky batteries after I left my flashlight in the trunk of my car for a couple of years. I've seen these types of products all over the internet for camping and emergencies. Do these work well? Hand crank ones could be more efficient as the cranking motion could generate more energy. Search Amazon and they run about $10 + s/h. Some even have cell phone charging, albeit for mostly Nokia phones.

how much energy in jewels is produced from one shake of an led shake flashlight that does not need batteries? I am trying to find out how this technology in the famous flashlight that does not need batteries or a lightbulb, I know that a battery of some sort passes through a copper coil to produce energy, but how is the energy created and how much is created in each shake, if anyone knows the answer please post a response or give me a website with the engineering behind the flashlight, but please don't give me a website that just sells them Joules? Maybe 1-3 joules depending on the size of the light. Xenon uses the most, Incandescent uses alot, and LED uses very little energy.

My SHAKE FLASHLIGHT doesn't work at all. I need help repairing it. So I took it apart and there was a loose I found a loose wire. It has just two wires coming from the inductor. I think I see where this one goes. Can I use a little electrical tape or do I have to solder it? Also, can you tell me about the on/off switch. It isn't attached to any of the insides. It looks like a little magnet sliding up and down. So it needs to be next to the "switch". I think that the switch is a horizontal piece that is in the line of wiring. Any ideas about this? I joined the 2 wires together and it still doesn't work. thanks try this website
