problem with rechargeable flashlight batteries? I bought 4 rechargeable 3v 123 batteries to power my surefire torch/flashlight, they charged up ok first time, but they've blown my surefire bulb twice now. I'm not putting them in again I'm just wondering why they flashed and blew the bulb instantly? I know surefire does rechargeable batteries and lithium rechargeables exist, but these have 1000mAh written on them and it scares me. Can someone educate me on electricity since I'm obviously not understanding this. good answers so far, except the 3rd. I checked and the batteries are 3v, the torch I've used for years and I'm 100% it's 6v, has always taken 2 throwaway 3v's. I'm none the wiser still. The 10000mAh means that they can last for 1000 hours with a 1 milli amp draw or 100 hours with a 10 milli amp draw. Could it be you have the wrong VOLTAGE BATTERIES? might be you need 1.5volt or 1.2 volt the extra voltage in the 3volt ones would instantly burn out the bulb. another solution could change the bulb to match the power out put you have. just add the voltage together for all the batteries required ,if two at 3v each, total is =6v. if three batt. total = 9v and so on.

I am looking for a rechargeable security flashlight.? I was told that there is a flashlight that you plug in to charge, and when the electricity goes off, the light comes on. You can unplug it and use it for lighting for several hours without recharging. While it is plugged in it keeps charging. Does anyone know anything about this flashlight?

How long do rechargeable and alkaline batteries last in an LED Flashlight? Both types of batteries are brand new. I assume you mean "rechargeable alkaline" batteries.
It depends on the capacity of the battery and the power of the Flash light.
If the battery is fully charged you might expect at least a few hours of light.
If you want to have a long life for your battery keep them under charge. Alkaline batteries like it.

My old sears professional rechargeable flashlight quit. I work in attics and such and need a good flashlight? Sears (for some reason?) quit making their old professional rechargeable flashlight with the real glass bulb (about 4 inches in diameter) and an adjustable base so you could position it aimed at a spot while you worked. Dorcy makes one that looks the same but it's a poor imitation of a great flashlight. Doesw anyone know of a good "working" flashlight? Rechargeable would be nice but not essential. Can anyone recommend a rechargeable flashlight that lasts all night? My son who is almost three used to sleep with one of those kid night lights that you can hold and snuggle all night... then one day he saw a flashlight int the store and decided he wanted that instead... He now sleeps with both but the batteries don't last more than one night in the flashlight he has now. That's a lot of batteries being thrown away seeing as it takes 2 AA batteries every night! So I am now in search of a flashlight that I can recharge during the day... I could use rechargeable batteries but I would like to find a flashlight that's meant to be recharged if I can. I found ones that were really nice but I don't want to pay $70 for a flashlight if I can avoid it... why does a flashlight only takes rechargeable batteries and not take regular dry cell batteries? if you are using a Maglight Magchager, the cells are 2/3D cells.
perhaps the rechargeable light you are looking at uses 2/3D too.
2/3D cells are one third shorter than standard D cells, so standard D's will not fit rechargeable lights.

I've seen stuff with these specs. except for the 6W. You can get lights like this in the 3 to 5W range. The difference between 4W and 6W is not very large. Also, an excellent 4W light is probably as bright or brighter than a mediocre 6W design.

What are some of the best rechargeable flashlights (solar/winding/shaking/plug-in/etc)? I think I would like a solar or electrical outlet plug-in rechargeable flashlight for home use, especially for power outages, and a winding/shaking one to keep in the glove box of my vehicle. i have tried a couple wind up lights in my vehicle and they dont last. i think the temp and humidity swings have an effect on generator and/or battery. i now have an LED 2 cell for the car now. it holds up fine.
i've had good luck with this wind up from radio shack. keep it in the house near crawl space for emergency reasons. tornado/asteroid strike or nuke fall out. (gosh i hope none of this ever happens)

Anyone use rechargeable camera batteries in their Surfire flashlight? Looking at some other cr123 batteries for cameras and wondering if anyone has used them in their flashlight,wondering if rechargeable cr123 batteries will work? Well, yes they will, although they have a slower discharge rate (results in less juice getting out to power bulb) and a lower mAh (total charge) than primaries (not rechargeable), you do appear to lose a few lumens and definitely have less operating time (both less negatively affected using led bulbs rather than xenon). However there is a large cost savings - just depends on what's more important to you. If I was using my 3 battery (xenon still) Defender for critical purposes (law/rescue) I would use primaries. The way I use it now (seldom), it is more desirable for me to use rechargeables. I'm kind of a rechargeable freak anyway - I have many - all types. I also have a lot of led flashlights that I use rechargeables in totally.
Be sure and get high mAh (milli Amp hour) batteries, which for CR123As is going to currently mean about 1,200. The battery manufacturers keep upping the ante with secondaries (rechargeables) by increasing capacities on a regular basis.
