Why do new Rayovac batteries leak in the package? Just found a year-old, sealed set of Rayovac MaximumPlus batteries (Size D) and all but one in the package was leaking. Actually a pool of acid in the bottom of the plastic container. Whitish in color. Stored at room temp. Nothing abnormal. Never had this problem with other brands. Glad it wasn't in a flashlight or something! Sorry to say that there is no good explanation that can be given. Assuming you are right, and the temp and humidity were constant, and they weren't dropped or damaged physically. I have seen this happen myself with different brands. I don't think that being Rayovac batteries had anything to do with it.

Will the lights on this rayovac rechargeable battery charger go out when the batteries are charged? I bought the rayovac easy charger a couple of days ago. Iam trying to charge batteries I bought and the redlights haven't gone out yet which means their charged. It's been 24 hours. For the first charge it will take a long time but just wait and see it shoul go out read the manual- lemme guess u threw out the manual thinking i dont need in structions cuz im no baby well obviously u do lol

Do Rayovac batteries really last as long as Duracell and Energizer? as they so explicitly state all over their packaging? i saw these in the store yesterday but still opted for Energizer due to the fact that they've worked well for me in the past. However the same price of 11.99 USD could have gotten me 12 more Rayovac batteries (36 total) than the 24 Energizers that i decided to purchase. Pretty much equal but so are most alkaline batteries, the real money saver as well as better performance is in Ni-MH, sometimes the performance difference is truly phenomenal and he money you will save is in the thousands. Set of standard alkaline batteries in my camera last for about 20 or 30 pictures, a set of Ni-Mh batteries last for about 100 to 200 pics.

How long to charge Rayovac batteries? I just started using a PS13-B Rayovac rechargeable battery charger, and was wondering how long it takes to charge batteries for the first time? The instructions say the LED will shut off when charging is completed, but it has been on for almost two hours now. Does it typically take this long to charge them the first time? How long to charge them when you have started using them? Thanks. I have read the instructions, actually, but they were vague as to the time length. I was just wondering if it was normal for it to take as long to charge them as it is taking. It can take up to 10 or 12 hours, depending on the discharge state of the batteries. You should look at the instructions for that charging unit.

How long do I need to leave x4 AAA batteries in a Rayovac charger to charge them up? I have the charger but no instructions, and it doesn't have a timer. . You didn't mention the model number of the charger so none of us here can look up the instructions either. Nor did you mention the rated capacity of the batteries.
All is not lost however.
The back of the charger should tell you how much current (mA) it provides when charging AAA's. It may have a different and higher number for AA's. Suppose the current is 150 mA and your batteries are rated at 900 mAh. Dividing the two numbers (900 mAh/150mA) gives you the time in hours. In the example it would be 6 h(ours). Allow another hour or so since the charging process isn't 100% efficient. The calculation assumes that you started with batteries that were nearly exhausted. It's best to not let your batteries reach that point.
Better chargers do the work for you by monitoring the state of charge on each cell and stopping when each is charged to perfection with no guesswork involved.

how long does it take to charge 4 AA batteries on a rayovac easy charger? i bought this charger a long time ago. it holds 4 AA and 4 AAA. i just bought the 4 AA nimh batteries to go in it. they have been charging 18 hours. the red light is still on. do i wait for the red light to go off before taking them out? i am using them in my digital camera. maybe i should just get a new charger. i have had this one for a year. The charger may be a cheaper model that just keeps charging. Those NiMH batteries should have charged in 4 to 6 hours, max. A better charger would be one that knows when to stop charging, and goes into a 'trickle charge' mode. (Green light.)

Can you recharge Energizer batteries in a Rayovac battery charger? We have a Rayovac 4 battery AA charger and need to know if we can also charge Energizer batteries in it. are the batteries and the charger the same type? there are different types of batteries.
there's Ni-MH and Li-ion and Ni-Cd and probably more. charging the wrong type of battery could cause damage and possibly leaks or explosions, so check what type of battery charger and what type of battery you're charging if they didnt come in the same package.

Will a rayovac AA battery charger charge duracell AA batteries? I have rechargeable duracell aa batteries but lost my charger and don't want to spend 20 dollars on a new one when I found a rayovac charger for under 7? Yes it will as long as its the same size. (AA) And the same voltage.

How do I change the batteries in my Rayovac 4AALN RB Lantern? We are experiencing rolling blackouts and I have this lantern. I can't figure out where the batteries go. There is no help on Rayovac's website and the little "Instruction Book" that came with the thing is useless, it just tells you how to change the bulb. See if the bottom of the base unscrews.
I looked at a similar lantern; the bottom of the base just unscrewed to expose the battery holder.

Can you use a different brand of rechargeable battery with a Rayovac NiMH charger? I think the instruction manual said I youre only supposed to use Rayovac batteries with it; i found some generic batteries on ebay for a lot less. they have the same major specs. i assume its not a problem, they just put it in there for liability reasons and to sell their own stuff? or is there actually a reason? As long as they are NimH it should be OK.
The batteries on e-bay may be cheaper, but check the mAh rating. the more the better the battery (they last longer).
