Your Friend is correct, at least about traveling in a vacuum, there would be no interfering particles to slow down the traveling of the proton, so theoretical it could move around the solar system at near light sped with very little force.

The problem with your idea is that when photons of light "hit" something, they give up their energy in the form of electron generation in the thing they hit -- they don't impart their velocity to the thing they hit. The idea behind solar sails comes from particles OTHER than light -- particles with mass, which are part of the solar wind, which *can* impart their velocity to the thing they hit. With only massless quanta (photons) hitting an object, there is no velocity imparted, though there is energy that can be extracted from the photons. That's how solar electric panels work -- the photons hitting the solar cells give up their energy in the form of electrons in the solar cells that can then do electrical work. The solar cells don't accelerate because of the photons hitting it.

Speed is close to light, why the tunel woun't fill up with mass of proton? As the speed of proton in large hadren collider is going to be very near to the speed of light that is 27x11000=297000 that is near to 3lacKM/ SEC. So proton" mass will not become infinite but it will definately become million tons and will block the tunel. If not , justyfy your answer. The mass of a proton is 1.6726 x 10^-27kg. Now if the proton is accelerated to 99.999991 % the speed of light, its relativistic mass would be:
m' = 1.6726 x 10^-27/( 1 - 0.99999991^2)^0.5 = 4.1815 x 10^-24 kg.
Note that the multiplier is still 10^-24. Even if we use the estimated number of protons in one tunnel of 10^6, we still end up with 4.1815 x 10^-18 kg in each tunnel. So where is your million tons?

E = hc/λ,
where h is Planck's constant.
E = (6.63x10^-34 J*s) (3x10^8 m/s) / (3.41x10^-7 m) = 5.84x10^-19 J.

You can't say the same for an electron, which is about 10^10 times smaller than its Compton wavelength. This leads me to believe the quarks in a proton take up a very small fraction of the protons volume.
