Quite simple really. Add to the output of the PSU a small relay that has a normally closed and a normally open and a common contact (3 contacts is all) Connect a lamp to another power source using the common and the normally closed contact to switch the lamp. When the PSU is working the lamp is off because the normally closed centact is open...when the PSU is not working, the lamp will light because the relay contact closes.

8 year old ADT home alarm AC failure? We recently lost all power to our home and our alarm system did not go on. Another power failure turned it back on. We are now seeing AC Failure on the key pad screen. What does AC failure mean? Unplug the AC to the alarm module and you should see DC on the screen indicating your alarm is now operating on battery backup. Plug the unit back in and DC should clear. If this doesn't work call the ADT guys.
What store sells power failure alarms? I use a machine for my sleep apnea but it doesn't have an alarm for when there's a blackout. Buy a computer UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and plug your apnea device into it. Most UPS's come with a power loss alarm.

It could be that your generator output is dirty. I haven't heard of a filter on a fire alarm control unit.
You could phone Notifier and ask for an engineer to speak to. They should be interested in your problem.

all sound like good checks to make, the battery, check your circuit breakers and find if the alarm is plugged into a GFCI receptacle. check and reset all your GFCI receptacles, it may be on one of those circuits
