4.7x10^-19 joule = 2.933 508 045 6 electronvolt. Subtract 2.7 eV for energy lost to the work function and you have 0.2335080456 which, to two significant figures, rounds to 0.23 eV, NOT 0.24 eV or 0.26 eV.

But like the other problem, you're on the verge of asking something significant with a little detail or context, but not quite there yet.

Clearly the issue here is that as you increase the energy of the photon targeting the electron, the electron eventually will no longe be scattered, instead, you'll be creating additional particles in the interaction, or you'll be ejecting the electron from its bound orbit about an atom.
So the max KE is just a limit before the Compton Scattering is NO longer Compton Scattering. This also sets a limit on how accurate we can probe the position of an electron using an high energy photon, and this is very much related to the Uncertainty Principle, where as you approach the limit of measuring the particle's position, adding more energy will eventually disrupt the particle so much that its position is no longer relevant.

so how can i work out the energy of the incident photon?
Ekmax = hf - workfunction
and
Fmin = workfunction/h
are the only equations i know of, and i dont see how these can give me my answer :/

The unknown here is the work function.
Use conservation of energy.
Energy of incident photon = h * freq. = (6.626068 × 10-34 m2 kg / s)(2.10 x 10^15 / s) = 1.391 x 10^-18 J
Subtract the max energy of the emitted photon to find the energy necessary to remove the electron from gold (the work function)
1.391 x 10^-18 J - 6.20 x 10^-19J =
7.714 x 10^-19 J = work function

Planck was studying the way objects emit heat and energy. The theory at that time did not accurately describe what was observed. Planck adjusted the theory by assuming that heat and energy were emitted in tiny particles called "quanta." This adjustment meant that the theory accurately described what was observed.

You want to find out the energy (and so frequency, since E=h f, f = E/h) to just eject an electron and no more.
If you want to just eject the electron and no more, the electron is going to leave the atoms with the smallest amount of Kinetic energy possible. In reality that's going to be an infinitesimally small number, which we can approximate to zero. So take the Kinetic energy of the emitted electron as 0.

I would paint light in front of the lens in various forms and colors with hand held LEDs and a laser pointer. There were no post production enhancements added from software such as PhotoShop in any of these collections. I started doing this technique back in 1974 with 35mm Kodachrome film and have several collections under various names. In 1985 I did the Photon collection under the name Max Luxstein which was shown in various shows around the USA. Collections made after 1984 were executed with a Nikon FM2 camera. In 2005 I switched to a Nikon Coolpix 8800 (digital camera) which was used in the collection featured in this video.
