I run Off-road in forest areas so its pitch black at this time of year, I was wondering if anyone can recommend a head torch that lightweight & lights up really well but also that doesn't cost too much.
I currently have a petzl head e-lite but its not good enough.

Look for 1 Watt LED's with 3 Light levels.
I use a Garrity that they don't make anymore. But it has a seperate battery pack that is on the back of your head and a strap that goes across the top of my head. It's as comfortable as wearing a baseball cap. It also has blinking red lights on the front and back so traffic can see me easier when I'm on the road.
I compared mine to other head lamps friends of mine had on a relay race we did, and mine was much brighter with a much broader illumnation arc.
Actually I just found the one I have.

GoPro HD and Petzl Ultra combo Test flight with the Petzl Ultra, filmed with the HD GoPro Helmet HERO. First time speed flying in total darkness. Fairly disorienting. Hope to make more practice flights, getting more close to the ground to give a better perspective to film. The Ultra was incredible. I m pretty sure it is brighter then the headlights on my truck and I am not even kidding. That headlamp is no joke. The video does not do justice how bright the Ultra really is. Only thing I can say is that trust me, if it wasn t bright enough, I would have not launched. Running downhill in the pitch black of night with no moon is not fun. Luckily I had my Ultra with me )

The Petzl name is known for high quality and standards, but the Black Diamond seems to be just as well built and has more features in the end (plus it s a bit cheaper). One big flaw with the Black Diamond Spot is its red light. It is REALLY dim and is basicaly only good for viewing what you are doing with your hands. Both are great lights and we hope this review will help you make a more educated buying decision.
