what is the signal path for just the blinkers on a motorcycle? from the fuse box do i go to the flasher first or to the switch It depends on your bike, you need to get a service manual. I recommend a FACTORY manual, Clyme and Chiltons, etc are not too good.

how much should i try and sell my motorcycle for? its a harley davidson? it's a 2006 sportster XL1200L. its two tone paint, black cherry and black pearl. it has a dent in the fuel tank and one of the handles is scraped up pretty good where the blinker button and kill switch are located? how much could i sell it for as is and how much could i sell it for if i fixed it? anyone interested in buying, please email me at army_guy1180@yahoo.com Sell it as is and take 5-10% off of high blue book and you should have no problem selling it.

My motorcycle ignition lights wont turn on and it wont start at all? A few weeks ago my motorcycle stolen and stripped and they cut my ignition switch to hot wire it. So, i just replaced my ignition switch and the ignition lights wont come on at all and when i try to start it up nothing happens. For example, none of the lights will light up from the ignition like the oil, neutral, high beam, or blinkers wont even light up and even when i hit the starter not even a crank will fire up the bike. I even charged up my battery and its fine. So whats the problem? A short from a fuse? If so, where at? HELPPP!!! Its also a clipp-on too, we put it on right! still nothing! Its a 2007 Suzuki GS500... Check the MAIN fuse, and the fuse box. The main fuse is probably blown from wires being cut

My motorcycle blinker lights will only work if I hold the switch over. How can I get them to stay? The blinker lights work fine. The only problem is the switch needs to be held to the left or right in order for them to stay on. What can I do to make it so that I just move the switch to the left or right and they will stay blinking? Motorcycle is a 1983 Suzuki GS850L your switch gear isn't ''latching''...strip it and see if its fixable if not source another from ebay..

1982 Yamaha xt200j? My 82 Yamaha xt200j has an electrical system problem that I can't seem to find the answer to. When the left, or right blinker is turned on, the taillight flashes just enough to be noticed. It doesn't cut out, it just dims in sequence with the flashers. I have checked every ground on this motorcycle and every connection appears to match the schematic drawing , and is clean. I need these blinkers to pass NY State inspection ( not sure if it will ). All other problems are now resolved thanks to the help "Yahoo Folks" have given me. Battery is new and is charging with the magneto, switches seem good. This situtation happens with or without the motorcycle running. I doubt this is "Normal" or acceptable with the local authorities. Why does this thing have to have a daytime rear running light ? I just don't know... I might as well be thorough here. If I put it in neutral, the neutral light appears to do the same thing as the taillight. add another ground wire or clean the ground connections

why do both sides blink on my motorcycle turn signals .im only tying to use one side? why are all four blinkers flashing when i indicate a turn? I feel sure its probably a short but I cant locate it . Ive rewired all four blinkers ,new relay, cleaned switch(still might be an issue there i suppose) Its driving me nuts....any help out there? do you have a hazard switch?? maybe it's crossed with the blinker wires

My motorcycle ignition won't start? Hi, My 2005 Suzuki Boulevard C50 started fine until several days ago, but suddenly it won't start. There is no sound when I turn on the engine stop switch, and the horn doesn't work, but the lights and blinkers work fine so I don't think it's a battery problem (or is it?) I'm also suddenly unable to find the Neutral gear with my foot pedal. Until yesterday, I could at least hear the whirring sound when I turn on the engine stop switch, and when I turn on the ignition switch, it would click at least, but it doesn't even do that anymore. What could be causing this? I agree that it is probably your battery, buy a trickle charger and leave it on the bike when it is not in use. Try buying one like "Battery Tender" which have a charge/float set up. I do not agree with statement about the altenator. Japanese motorcycles do not have altenators. They have rotor/stator assemblies. They also have seperate voltage regulators . While this combo of parts may do virtually the same thing as an altenator, it is called "components of the charging system" since each of them is a seperate item.

What could be the cause of all four "blinker" lights failing on my Buell Blast? I haven't had a problem with the lights before. I had an accident and destroyed the back light, but after replacing the part and switching out the fuse, the lights worked for a few days. Now, the lights don't come on (including the clicking sound or the "hey your blinker is on" lamp on the display). I tried making sure all the wires were connected near the headlight, and after messing around with the connections for serveral minutes, the lights worked again. On and off -- no problem. Next time I came outside, the lights didn't work anymore. Now, no matter how much I make sure all the wires are connected, the lights don't come on. It's not the fuse, and I'm unsure whether the diode would have anything to do with this... Does anyone know what the problem might be? Or maybe you guys have a link to a troubling-shooting motorcycle site? Any input would help. Thanks for your time! the flasher burned out which makes the flashers blink and makes the clicking sound. Just replace it and they should work since you already replaced the fuse. good luck

will new blinkers work on old motorcycles(harley)? i have an 81 xls and i put blinker switches from an 2002 sportster on it.it will only work if i hold the switch down.its the same on both sides and it feels the same as on my friends 03 superglide.i am starting to beleive it only works on computerized bikes.if anyone has any info or any way to correct this please tell me.----ifit is indeed only made for computerized bikes then is their another switch i can place in the housing?--would call bike shop but their closed til tuesday.thanks in advance ok so does that sound like my best bet then is to get a module??theres no switches to be had that will work inits place? may be a dumb question but would electronic flashers work....at he moment i am using thermal flashers? side note--listening to highway song --blackfoot..had my bike torn apart for various things...i am ready to go somewhere.... You are close.....your bike has a turn siganl flasher that will only work while the swithc is held in. Aroun 1991, HD sitched from flashers to an elctronic turn signal module. When the module is delivered a momentary power signal from the switch, it takes over and controls the flashing and self cancels. The newer bikes still use this system and starting in 04, the security system was also built into the same module.
The only way you can get yours to function as the new ones do, is to wire up an aftermarket module.........

EDIT: No, no other switches will work for what you want, and no, an electronic flasher will not work either, they operate on the same principle, need constant power.

I replaced the blinkers on my motorcycle but they are not working properly. Any advice? I crashed my 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250R a few weeks back and one of the turn signals was ripped off so i had to replace them. I bought some Motrax flush LED blinkers (original blinkers used bulbs) and plugged them in, front and back, both sides. Now when i turn on the blinkers with the switch on the handle bars, the lights just light up, all 4 of them light up no matter which side want to turn on. But the side that you turn on is brighter than the side that was supposed to stay off. Someone told me it was a relay problem. So i went to a shop and bought a new flash relay that is supposed to "slow down" the flash rate of the lights since leds dont used as much power as bulbs but the same thing happened. All 4 turn signals just light up and stay lit... Does anyone have some advice? Or know of a possible solution? I would appreciate it. Thanks You have a bad ground wire causing the lights to find a ground in the system....lighting the rest of the lights.
