FAQ about Mini Maglite Lens
Where can I get a red lens for my mini Maglite? I'm trying to get a few things together for a basic astronomy setup, and I need a red light that doesn't ruin my night vision. I've found a lot of red lenses for mini Maglites on the internet, and they're really cheap ($0.75), but I don't want to pay $5 in shipping for a 1-inch circle of plastic. Is there a major hardware or electronics chain that would sell them? I would try a local theater supply store - the stage lights that they use have replaceable colored plastic (I believe these are called "gels" in the industry). You should be able to buy a red one for next to nothing and cut hundreds of those little red lenses out of it. Or keep the rest in case you ever break a tail light!
I can not re-assemble my mini maglite!? My flashlight was not working when I got it out today, so I looked up solutions online and they all said to check the bulb. So I did, no problem. Eventually I got the flashlight to work again, but now I can not get the headpieces to fit back on (namely the reflector and the lens). I didn't pay attention to how it fit together before I took it apart, because I have taken it apart many times and have not had this problem. However, this is the first time that I have taken the lightbulbs out (so that the little prongs are shown) and basically dissembled the flashlight down until it says "do not remove". Please if you know of why it is doing this and how I can fix it, I could use advice. And apologies for using terms like "the little prongs things". I am not an expert obviously. okay since you removed the top part of the minimaglite, simply reinstall carefully the bulb to where the two prongs reinsert into the two small holes on the light itself -reinstall by screwingclockwise the top part until it seats. cap off the deflector and just insert it over the top part.rescrew in the glass lens -best of luck

Just ensure proper heat disappation by using a good thermal grease (like arctic silver) when mounting the laser into the Axiz lens assembly. Maglite Disassembly to Stop Dimming Part 1 In a maglite there are about 17 or so connections and like the weakest link in a chain any one of them can cause resistance that causes dimming. The D Cell s switch can be completely disassembled which is a plus. Not so with the C cell, unfortunately. So I added a thick coat of Penetrox (aluminum joint compound) to the following: tail spring to tail cap, set screw to sliding contact strip, set screw to flashlight body, and the threads for the tailcap and lens housing. A thin coat to tailcap bright to maglite bright base connection, the front and back of each battery, the top of the tail spring, the bulb base spring caps and spring and to the threads of the bulb retaining ring. An invisibly thin coat to the switch ring and ring touching contacts, the cone shaped spring cap to bulb base and the bulb cylinder. while I had the switch disassembled i used silicone lubricant on the plastic parts.
