removing stuck leaking battery from maglite? I have a Mini Maglite 2-Cell AA torch, so it's quite thin and small. But the battery closest to the bulb has leaked and it's stuck in there. I've removed the small components, including the bulb and the black ring holder, and tried soaking it in Coca-cola, but it's still stuck. Are there any household products I can use to remove it? I need it by friday so something I can buy from shops. Thanks! You could try WD40 but I doubt that will help. The most likely way is to drill into it and try to pull it out, or scrape/lever it out with a screwdriver. Take care with your hands - easy to cut yourself. Best to hold it in a vice with soft jaws (or a towel or something).

does anyone know how to get the bulb out of a MagLite 6D torch!? I've got the head bit off, but the bulb is secured in place by a cap thing, that will not turn, or pull out (it's quite slippy) so how do you get the dam thing out? http://www.maglite.com/anatomy_spare_D.asp (having trouble with 11 on that diagram) I have 3 mag-lites and have never had a problem with this, I recommend a gentle use with grips or pliers.
Failing that return it as it is guaranteed for 10 years (I think).

I want to buy a small torch? which make is the best quality? I once had a maglite-it stopped working quickly.? Send it back to Maglite and they will replace it. They make a high quality product and they stand behind them.

How 2 fix Maglite torch after it was dropped and u could not see very far with the spot-mode ? I work as a security operative and have a few D-cell Maglite torches. they are all excellent in quality. The only problem is after I drop it or use it to hit a hard object, the torch still works but you can't see too far with the spot-mode as you used to be able to. The floodlight-mode is also f**ked abit but still ok. I have had this problem with a few Maglites. It is very hard for us to avoid dropping the torch as well as using it as a defensive weapon. sits there by pressure, is seated at the right spot. If the bulb
moves up the two metal posts, the filament is not at the
centre of the focal point of the reflector. The flashlights come
completely apart, so you should be able to re-seat the bulb.
Also make certain the reflector is seated correctly.
I used maglights for years, since the Krypton gas and filament
was the best and the brightest, and the construction was solid.
However, all my friends and I, after using the units for a while, would all take out our lights and hit the lens end sideways, before using, since the highly dissimilar metals used on the hot bulb posts, and the tiny spring slip posts, would oxidize - mainly the
the aluminum like springy clips, and then you would loose brightness due to high rsistance - hitting the unit sideways would "clean" the oxidization. I wrote the company in California about it
( a woman ran the corp, by the way ) and about a few other seal
problems, and since my friends and I typically carried the lights
ALL the time, we were a worst case test group. I got the usual LEGALEEZE reply that they had their own " In house" testing labs, thank you... but, i noticed that the next revision had a grease
on the aluminum contacts ( prevents corrosion ) and a better
seal on the moving end. As someone noted below, the filament
gradually burns off particles, which cloud the inner side of the glass, and the filament becomes less bright with age.
Not many people would subject the units to the extremes that I would, and I regularly would have to dissassemble the units, clean all the parts, and re-assemble them.
I, and all my friends have gradually changed to the new LED flashlights, which, with 5, 9, 15 etc. grouped super white LEDS,
are getting better, brighter, with focussing, and they use 1/10th the power. Coupled with an expensive 11 year Lithium " E " type battery, they have proven fairly durable.

Maglights still have superior qualities to " standard" flashlights,
but you HAVE to keep spare bulbs handy. They burn fiercely bright, but at the expense of long life.
Bottom line, as someone suggested, put in a new bulb, a really
high quality battery, dissassemble, clean, and carefully align everything when you put it back together.

UK Police Torch Maglite? Hi, What Torch or type of Maglite do UK police use, i dont mean the ones that go on the belt holder, i mean the one that goes on the elastic band on the vest next to face whilst the other side is the radio? I think you are referring to the torch on the link below. This is the most common type of torch issued where I work but it does vary from time to time with what we are issued. I still carry the mini maglite I was issued with when I joined as it still works. This is carried on my belt.

How many lumens is a 3W Maglite LED torch with 2AA batteries? I really want a torch that will do the job during my hiking..it must be bright.. I'm thinking about Maglite 3W LED with 2AA batteries... I want to know how many lumens it is before buying it... Help anyone....??? If you want a decent head lamp, go to Target. They have one by Energizer that is very bright, uses AA batteries. 3w LED. Don't remember the name of it but the package is black, blue and silver. Good light but no waterproof.
If you want a hand held light, go to Costco. They have a 2 light pack, 3 or 5w LED, 210 lumes, uses AAA batteries, for $20. Ive had a few for about 4 months no, use them every day, and no problems!
If you want water proof stuff look at Petzl, Princeton Tec, or get on a caving gear web site.

What is the best way to clean out damage from leaked batteries in a MagLite torch (5D)? I have a 5D Maglite torch which some batteries leaked into. I am trying to find out what is the best way to clean the damage out from the inside of the torch. No damage was to the contact its just a build up of gunk inside the battery compartment. first up, the battery manufacturer may warranty that the battery will not leak, you may be able to get them to buy you a new MagLight.
second, the mag can be disassembled. get down to all the parts.
You can use any detergent to clean the parts, then using a baking soda wash, scrub all the corrosion areas to kill the oxidation.
rinse in fresh water and allow to dry.
reassemble.
