I suppose if you live on a small island long enough, you realize there s no big hurry for anything. Even our bus driver calmly waited for someone whose car was blocking the street while they onloading boxes from it. All of the bus drivers look really scary, but are really helpful if you just ask them a direct question. As I move around the country, the rudeness that I initially noticed seems a lot less bothersome. In fact, I don t even really notice anymore. Mdina, Rabat Today we took a trip out to the cities of Mdina and Rabat. Mdina is an old walled city built to defend against someone or another. It seems like most of the things here to see involve someone defending the island against the Turks. Mdina has been heavily restored and looks really nice inside. Since everything is made out of that one rock, its really dusty. Just sitting in a corner, the wind constantly blows dust in your eyes. The light color of the rock reflects the sun in your eyes as well making it seem like skiing goggles are appropriate. From the back wall of Mdina you can see almost to the ends of the island in a 180 degree spectacular view. I took a video to try and convey the awesomeness of it. TravelPod is a company of TripAdvisor . Ohiolair s travel blog entry: Day 10 (9 of the Cruise): Valetta, Malta I awoke early. 5 am Wide awake. SO o grabbed the lap top and headed up on deck to write (I m working on more than this travelogue) and watch the sun come up. I lasted about 45 minutes, then headed back to bed! HA! I did see the Dawn break, the sky lighten, but didn t wait for the sun. Bed and snuggling lasted all of 10 minutes, and then I headed back out and to coffee. I was on deck to watch us sail into Valetta. What a beautiful city massive walls that stretch down to the sea, some of the stone cliffs have tenements dug right into the sandstone faces. It was beautiful. Bob, Carol and Michael had a tour planned, and I planned to sun and workout while they were gone, and maybe catch a nap now that I was up at 5. I saw them off from the promenade deck with promises that we d meet up at one when they returned to go shopping and see the city. I wandered around, had breakfast next to the Lido pool, stopped by and checked e mail again. and finally made my way up to deck 10 and the sunning area. I am not golden brown by any stretch of the imagination, and although I was hoping another hour or so in the sun would turn me into a ad perfect tan man. It was pleasant. Nice and quiet aboard ship, with 1600 of the 2000 passengers ashore. I

TravelPod is a company of TripAdvisor . Duncantucker s travel blog entry: Everything was going well enough until our trusty Mexican hire car started stuttering. Having rumbled along for about 98 of the journey it finally gave up the ghost on the very last hill. Conveniently stuck on a steep hairpin bend, we struggled to move it out the way of oncoming traffic before we could even think of getting started again. Somehow believing we could get it up such a steep gradient, we failed spectacularly in our attempt to push this hefty 15 seater up the hill. Night soon fell and we had nothing more to see by than the full moon, the fireflies glowing in the fields around us, and my trusty Maglite. Hordes of bats fluttered above us and the mosquitoes descended en mass. They were out for blood. It felt like an all too familiar horror film scenario a bunch of kids break down in the wilderness, only to be picked off one by one by whatever monster or serial killer is lurking in the woods. While this was sheer paranoia, it s fair to say that it wasn t the safest situation for a bunch of helpless g eros (white guys) to be stuck in narco territory in the middle of rural Mexico. One of the girls we were with had warned that Michoac n is home to un chingo de narcotraficantes (a fuckload of drug traffickers) more than anywhere aside from the notorious
