does anyone know how to get the bulb out of a MagLite 6D torch!? I've got the head bit off, but the bulb is secured in place by a cap thing, that will not turn, or pull out (it's quite slippy) so how do you get the dam thing out?

I have 3 mag-lites and have never had a problem with this, I recommend a gentle use with grips or pliers.
Failing that return it as it is guaranteed for 10 years (I think).
In the Uk what equipment can a security guard carry that's legal? example, expandable baton?, 6D cell maglite? I been told the 6D maglite is illegal in the uk, the 4D is fine but 6D can be classed as a baton so not allowed You may not carry a baton or other weapon. There is no "illegal" torch, a 6 cell maglite is fine. And very useful. Just don't wave it around or threaten anyone with it, in those circumstances it can be considered an offensive weapon. It's all down to use.
Maglite flashlight bulbs? I have a 3D cell Maglite with the standard bulb in it (22,000 candlepower White Star lamp).
I want to upgrade to the recommended - Xenon Mag-num Star Lamp.
They recommend the usual LMSA301 for the 3D cell and up to the 30,000 candlepower LMSA601 for the 6D cell
The bulbs have the same head diameter so if I put a bulb made for the 6D in my 3D Maglite, will it be brighter than if I went with the 3D bulb?

The 301 is made to operate on 4.5v.
The 601 is made to operate on 9v.
If you try to operate a 601 on only 4.5v, you'll probably get less than half the brightness out of it.
Conversely, if you stick a 301 into a 6D flashlight, it will work VERY brightly for a few minutes and then probably burn out.
whats the difference between the 5d maglite and the 6d maglite?
Are rechargable batteries (AA example) allowed on US Navy ships? I mean, due to the consumer electronics personnel use on the ships, obviously they would recharge something like an I pod or video camera battery. However, what about something like a Maglite 6D flashlight (random example). I mean, those are the kind of batteries that if left around and get damaged would be hazardous due to the materials inside, right?

as for the battery charger: only if it is tagged by the Electronics guys. in fact ANYTHING that requires plugging in must pass inspection. but where would you store it? your rack only has a finite amount of storage space..and that is not very much at all. same with spare batteries: they must be locked away.
