surefire flashlight questions? im looking for a sure fire flashlight with lumens anywhere from 80 to 200 (i know thats a big space) but thre are so many flashlights. not looking to spend more than 200 dollars. if you have had sure fire flashlights before please add input. ones i am kinda looking at are the: 6p LED 6p LED Defender (same just a defence thing on tip) E1L outdoorsman L4 Lumamaxl5 Lumamax and LX2 lumamax. using for camping around house ect I currently have the 6P LED on my firefighting helmet and I am very pleased. Not a lot more I can say about it that Surefire.com doesn't cover, but I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if mine ever broke. The battery life is a LOT longer on the LED version Surefires. I've owned a couple now, and the normal bulbs suck batteries down like crazy. I'd definitely recommend going LED for that reason alone.
SureFire LX2 Lumamax Flashlight Heat Durability? I work on ships and have just purchased a LX2 Lumamax flashlight from SureFire. In case of a fire I want to know that this flashlight will not fail in extreme heat. It has a hard anodized aluminum shell which is supposed to be very durable, but how does it react with heat?
I was also wondering how different would this hard anodized material react with heat than a polymer type coating. I know some companies and fire & rescue crews like using polymer type flashlights, but won't the polymer fail before the metal?
It will probably do better than you will if you are holding it. On the other hand, if you wand to leave it on the deck or somewhere exposed to the fire to light your way while you have both hands free, it might not do so well. I'm pretty sure the batteries will stop working once they even approach 100deg C. (212 F) the LEDs won't work for long at that sort of temperature either.
You might consider using the low power setting if in a fire, the LEDs are probably pretty highly stressed already at the high power setting, and if there is much smoke the back scatter may result in high power doing more harm than good.

I used to really like surefire flashlights, but have found their short battery life a bit impractical for camping use. They are great for short bursts of light for defense or tactical use.
For camping or around the house, I find that a compact rechargeable light is the best bet. Look into the Fenix flash lights, or Nite Cores if you want something compact. LED lights have great battery life, and Sanyo Eneloop batteries hold there charge for quite a while when they are not in use, unlike most other rechargeable batteries that drain pretty quickly on the shelf.
What weapon mount works best for Surefire L4 Lumamax? I have recently bought a Surefire L4 Lumamax, I have been searching around for a weapon mount for Picatinny rail system on my M4 Carbine. Does anybody know which mount will work for my surefire? Or which one works best?
Already asked supply if they had surefires, they don't have any more, and they arent ordering any more. I'm not stupid.
I'm merely asking for the right mount for this specific flashlight for some confirmation.
I've looked into the Surefire m78, m79, and m31 but i'm not quite positive which to get. I don't want to spend $40 on something that doesn't fit. and its a hassle to return when your in Iraq.

If you are going "over there" I suggest you wait until you get there to order something. You'll be issued all kinds of crap at your mob station. When you get there find a "Gucci Gear Guru" who can tell you what to buy. (The GGG is the guy in the chow hall wearing $1,000 worth of non standard issue equipment.)
Better yet, ask a guy in SF - they are easy to spot because they have H&K weapons, civilian clothes and usually wear baseball caps and sunglasses. Find out what they use because its probably the best.
If you are tight with your supply sergeant he might be able to order you a Surefire weapons light through the supply system. They cost about $425.
