Has anyone bought LED light bulbs for in the home? What do you think of them? I am considering try one. I have a couple really high quality LED flashlights that are amazing. I am just wondering if anyone has tried these light bulbs in their house? What do you think of them? Good investment or still too much money? Considering energy saving and enviroments protection, the LED bulb is good choice.
If only considering the cost investment at present, it do a little expensive. For long term calculation, it's worth. Or you can considering other LED light such as LED light panel.

Does strobe effect reduce the lifespan of a led flashlight? I have a led flash light (a nuflare rebel 90) and i was wondering if doing a strobe effect (switch it on and off real quick) or using it short busts at a time will reduce the lifespan of the flashlight? Or does it have the same effect compared to when its constantly lit? if it does, its negligible. all you'll be doing is tiring out the fingers and slightly extending battery life.
regular light bulbs actually don't suffer from turning on/off rapidly frequently either, since nearly all lamps are designed to be used in the home with regular line frequency, the bulb filament is actually being turn on and off 120 times a second really, really quickly.
where ever you heard that turning on/off a lamp alot will reduce its working life time its an urban myth. its just not true.
actually, many quality LED flashlights (like a Surefire or Gerber) have a strobe function in their flashlights, the LED is guaranteed to last just as long as LEDs without the strobe feature. I have one such high end flashlight (aka "torch"), its an unregistered spin off from a Surefire tactical LED torch (saved me about $100- but still very expensive), the strobe effect actually extends battery life about 20% and doesn't reduce the LED working life whatsoever.

what happens if you look at a uv led light? i was playing with my grandfathers uv led flashlight to see what would glow under it and i looked at the light but not directly from the source, if you do know thie answer please post because i am really worried, i also did not use special glasses so its that a problem. Plus i only used it for about 3 minutes. Any damage should have shown up within a day or so.
It probably was not very strong or you did not get too much of it in your eye. It could also be close to visible wavelengths, ie, not terribly damaging.
But don't do it again !

Who makes a professional LED flashlight the same size as a 6 C cell Maglight? It time to retire my maglight. I have a very powerful, but small LED flashlight. I prefer the led light, but the size of the Maglight. Where can I find a combination of the two.12" or longer is preferable. I expect to pay for the best quality. Or, another good choice is the Pelican 8060 (model used by LAPD)
Pelican is 12.76 inches long and runs at 190 lumens for around 6 hrs.
I have the Pelican 7060 (shorter version of the 8060) and love it. A few guys I work with recently bought the new 5.11. Either are top of the line flashlights.

I beefed up a flashlight from 3 volts to 9, and was wondering if I could use a led light instead of a bulb? I have to use a 7.2 volt .7amp bulb so that ist doesn't burn out right away, and just do not want to spend 8 bucks on a led light filament if its just gonna burn out right away. A LED doesn't have a "filament" but its semiconductor material can still "burn out", but in this case not because of the voltage, but because of the current. Depending on the type of LED, its current must be limited to something between 20mA and 40mA (check "forward current" in data sheet). That's done with a resistor (in series to the LED) and calculates as R (in Ohm) = U (DC Volt) div. by I (in Ampere).
Exceptions: There are LEDs on the market that directly replace an automotive light bulb. Those are for 12Volt (because the resistor is built-in).

What is the advantage of krypton flash light bulbs Vs. regular halogen Vs. LED when buying a flashlight? I know that LED flashlights are pretty crappy. I heard that Krypton flashlights and Halogen flashlights are about the same and produce the same intensity and range. Is this true? Does anybody have first hand experience? I know that LED is great as far as battery life but does not have as much candlepower as Halogen or Krypton. Between Krypton and Halogen, Which has more candlepower? I assure you, if you get a good LED flashlight, it will be brighter than a similar model with a krypton/halogen bulb. I will never buy another flashlight that is not LED. Led is far superior, better life, (better tint usually), and they are bright with less artifacts.
LED flashlights with multiple small leds are garbage. A good LED flashlight will feature 1 normal high-powered CREE, or another brand.
I would recommend if you like AA/AAA that you look into Icon, Fenix. If you want C or D I suggest you look into... well maglite is the only major manufacturer to use D or C. If you want high quality CR123, I suggest you look into Surefire, Fenix, Inova, among many others. If you want small CR2, you do not have much choice, but Muysondt is good, but expensive.
Check out some lights on this site, they have all sorts of flashlights, with all different bulb types. They carry a lot of the major brands. I bought my Muyshondt Aeon from them, and they were very easy to deal with.

what is the advantage of having a UV LED flashlight compared to a regular LED flashlight? I had a regular 51 white LED flashlight that i got off ebay. and it worked just fine, I'm going to buy another led flashlight i'll be using it for camping and around the house. does a UV LED flashlight create more light or can you see better? UV or ultraviolet is not visible to human eyes. Buying a UV flashlight won't be any use if you want to see something. UV flashlights are frequently used to make hidden marks glow so they become visible. There are marks like this in the new bills and on passports and things like that. But you're not seeing the UV directly, just the glow caused by the UV. See the wiki article at the link below.

Can I make a black light out of a regular LED flashlight? Only by changing the LEDs to UV LEDs. You cannot make a white LED put out UV by any method available to the casual garage experimenter.
Store bought UV LEDs work by using an IR die coated with a phosphor that works by "pumping". Two IR photons received by an atom bumps a valence electron up high enough in orbit that when it falls, it gives off a UV photon.
