What do you say when someone offers to give you shoes and you prefer to go barefoot? My girlfriend and I were walking barefoot through the city when someone from a charity approached us and said they were concerned about seeing us without any footwear on a dirty city street and offered us free thongs to wear. We refused and said we prefer to go barefoot but they persisted and said not to feel embarassed about accepting the offer. They led us to their charity office then gave us thongs which we both put on our dirty feet. They looked very pleased at having put us in footwear. My girlfriend and I walked away wearing the thongs and said thanks, but we both would have preferred to remain barefoot! Be more assertive! Tell them 'no thanks, we go barefoot by choice'. If they're curious/amazed/interested, by all means answer some more of their questions, possibly give them the url to the SBL website, but if they get pushy and don't want to leave you alone, then *they* are the rude ones, and you can be rude back and simply tell them to leave you alone and get lost. I would NEVER follow them to their office or put on footwear even for one minute just to please some disbelieving busybody.
I've had a handful of times people offered me footwear or money, especially in winter, but I've always just refused politely and said I'd been barefoot for years, thank you. They've all responded with various levels of surprise but none have insisted I take their offer. One time I was riding the train and reading the paper and the woman who sat across from me dropped some change on the window table when she got off at the station before mine; I didn't notice it until I finished my paper since I had the paper held so I couldn't see it, she didn't say anything and while I heard a slight 'cling' I hadn't given it any thought (could've been the clasp of her bag or something; we have not one but *4* free newspapers spread around on the trains so half the people lean across to the table to put one down when getting off). I left the money when I got to my stop for someone else to find, I have all I need, footwear or otherwise.
If you have a hard time explaining your barefooting to people, print out few copies of the business cards or brochure in the source and make it a habit of carrying some; often having something on paper makes people more likely to believe you're serious and not just embarrassed to accept their help or fooling around with them. It's also a good way to give information to those truly interested if you're too busy to answer their questions (for example when you're have to catch a train/bus or are on your way to an appointment or work).
For the answerer above me: Only in the US do stores have 'no shoes, no shirts, no service' signs; I've never even SEEN such a sign here in the Netherlands, nor on trips to Belgium or Scotland. And there are NO health laws requiring footwear even in the US, nor do insurance companies require or even recommend footwear for customers. It's sad so many people in the US believe bare feet are unhealthy, but please see source for a lot of information that may surprise you. And then let us be; we really are doing just fine!

Which offers the best overall picture quality - high-end Samsung or Panasonic plasma or Samsung LED? Sharpness, color, black levels, etc. Panasonic Plasma, hands down. Plasma delivers more vivid colors, truer blacks, and deeper contrast to LCD, even LED LCD. Panasonic Viera Plasmas or Pioneer Kuro Elite Plasmas are the go to choice for a videophile.
The Samsung LED or Sony XBR 8 or 10 lines can provide LCDs a viable high end choice for sure. They will deliver great images for sure. They are good TVs. But they aren't going to beat top tier Plasma sets.
OLED and maybe Laser TVs (not Laser DLP though) could potentially trump Plasma. But neither are really consumer viable as of yet. So right now, again, its Plasma for the best image quality option out there.

How are some sites able to offer Led Zep tickets (at £425+) when they haven't been allocated yet? I can't even get on the official site - it must be overloaded! Those sites selling at £425 cash are pre-sales- they anticipate how many tickets they will be able to buy by getting in early, then sell the promise of one of those tickets to you.
If they manage to get the ticket, you get to go to the show. If they don't get the ticket, you get some of your money back, minus a 'booking fee'. But they're touts, their mission is to screw you over... they might try to forge stuff as well, of course, but hey, if you pick up a snake, and it bites you, that's not the snake's fault...
