What is it about LED lightbulbs? I have CLF lightbulbs throughout my house, and have been considering updating some of the high use lightbulbs to LED. However, when examining the lightbulb options at my local sam's club, I came to a horrible discovery. The Lumens produced by the 3 watt LED was a mere 80. When compared to the 9 watt CLF, which produces 450 lumens. For those of you who don't care to do the math, that makes the LED actually less cost effective, and other for the lack of mercury and longevity of life, completely useless to me. Furthermore, there is noway most normal people could function in the low lighting these lightbulbs produce. It might work for a desk lamp, but none of the LED lightbulbs, even the biggest bulbs they had didn't produce enough, and the trend continues across every bulb available. Their flood light didn't even have the equivalent lumens of a 40 watt(9 watt CLF) lightbulb. Does anyone know about this problem. We would be living in very dark conditions, or require many many bulbs, which defeats the whole purpose, if we switched to LED. Are lumens measured differently for LED, or is this a whole scam to get people to spend more money, save energy, but only at the cost of lighting and their eyes. Any one know more? Any buy LED bulbs and found them brighter than the lumens suggest? Update: I am no fan of incandescent lightbulbs, which is why I get CLF, but CLF bulbs can equal the lumens of incandescent. Someone could produce a CLF lightbulb that uses half the energy but also half the lumens, but that is not energy star or saving the energy, and from what I have seen, LED ligbulbs are less energy saving than CLF when comparing lumens. The fact that they use less energy is only attributed to the fact that they produce less lumens, and if you had enough LEDs to compare lumens to CLF or incandescent, it seems LEDs are less energy efficient than CLF. Please tell me I am wrong, because that seems like the biggest scam ever, especially at $10-$20 a bulb. I too use CLF and my conception of the LED is that it is to be utilized as accent lighting only. The out put is so low that accent is the only logical use for the LED at the present time.

Is there a website that sells LED lightbulbs? They are VERY expansive at the hardware store. You can order them from Amazon.com. They are pretty expensive everywhere though.

How are led lightbulbs? Anyone ever buy an led light bulb? They seem cheaper than the energy saving light bulbs. Do they use even less power? Are they brighter? Can you get some that go right into a regular light socket? For lighting a room, they suck. LEDs put out light in a very directional manner, so they look super-bright in flashlights (or on a Christmas tree) but they just don't perform well when their light is being spread across an entire room. Most of the standard base LED bulbs out there are only as bright overall as a 20-watt or so incandescent bulb, despite what the manufacturers try to claim.
If you're looking to light a whole room and save electricity, compact fluorescent bulbs are still the way to go. LEDs are a very promising technology, but they just aren't there yet.

Can you use LED lightbulbs in an ordinary light socket? only if the bulbs have been designed for that voltage.
well fuz is okay if i call you fuz? righteo! well we need specifics here. there are LED 'lightbulbs' on the marked that are designed with a switchmode supply to run of mains voltage however if our questioneer here believes the word 'lightbulb' refers to the GaAnblahblahblah semiconductor device encapuslated in either coloUred or clear epoxy then the 110volts will supply a rather entertaining bang and subsequent puff of noxious smoke.
(you guys need to up your mains voltage, 240 is much more fun)

Has anyone tried LED Lightbulbs? I have several fixtures that use the GU-10 bulbs (like in this picture http://www.febri.pl/img/GU10-50.jpg ). As I understand it, LEDs are very 'directional' and not especially good for regular fixtures, but what about in ones that are meant to be directional? In any case, if anyone has an opinion on these, I'd appreciate it. We have used lights similar to the one shown at work. the one pictured has a mirror base and works well, sometimes they have a lens which also helps. LED lights last long and use less electricity. I have a LED flashlight that works well.
I had also bought (albeit a few years ago) LED night lights that were not to bright., but they are improving.

Does anybody know if LED 9004 automotive lightbulbs exist? ...and where I can find any. Thanks. LED headlights are somewhere in the future on production cars. They're not nearly bright enough to replace a 9004. Right now you can replace turn signal and brake lights with LED bulbs, but they don't always work very well. The best you can do is to replace your entire headlamp assemblies with HID conversion kits, which are quite expensive and not available for all vehicles.

Are there LED Lightbulbs for indoor use? Just like you'd use a 65 watt lightbulb in your home is there something similar that uses LED's? If so where can I find them, how much do they cost? go to ikea if you have a local one or ikea.com

Does anyone know where I can get cheap LED light bulbs? I want to get some screw-in LED lightbulbs, preferably online, and not pay an arm and a leg for them. Thanks! I got some bulbs from a seller on ebay (searched for LED bulbs) and I plan to order more. You should know that they are not as bright and the color is off. The ones listed as warm white are close to the color we are used to, but still different. The neat thing is they do not get hot. They have a direct website that is www.ledwholesalers.com (may not need the "s" on the end or something like that) that I will order my next ones from. The ones that say cool white are brighter but have a blue-ish color. They also claim they last a long time, my two bulbs have only been in use for several months now.

How much will forcing people to buy the $50 LED lightbulbs that the warmers want destroy the economy? once the classic Edison bulbs are criminalized?

why can we not buy LED lightbulbs to replace a normal lightbulb? Why do we all still use normal light bulbs when LED lights bulbs are obviously superior You can, but have you seen the price?
