FAQ about Led Ball Cap

How hard is it to mould my own 44 cap n ball revolver balls? Can I just buy a mould and melt the led on a fire? How did the mountain men do it? It's actually a lot of fun. just make sure you have the right sized mold, a lot of.44 's don't mic out to the true size, if in doubt have a gunsmith check it for you. You will need the mold, and you can buy a single mold or one that does several at the same time, plus a handle, usually sold seperately, a proper vessel to melt the lead in, most people use a cast iron "pot" to use over open flame or even an electric one ( available from several sources) and pure lead, which isn't as easy or as cheap to find as you might think. I like recovered fish weights, sheet lead, scrap lead from plumbers, or just break down and buy it from the metal salvage yard etc. Make sure it is "pure" for loading into a black powder weapon. Also, make sure you do it in a well ventalated area, as lead fumes are toxic, and will permeat any area you use it in. I always melt and pour the lead outdoors, standing upwind.
The "oldtimers' used a smaller cast iron hand held leadpot with a wooden handle. They laid it on the hot fire, handle away from the fire, until the lead melted, then picked it up and poured it into the mold, then let it cool, break the mold open, pop out the cast balls, let them finish cooling, snip off the piece left attached from the fill spout, and when you load the ball into the firearm, always make sure you load that end of the ball facing out. I also found that it was better to slightly heat up the mold for the first pour and NEVER, repeat NEVER let water get into the mold before you pour lead into it, it will explode, shooting molten lead in all directions.

What should I put in my Survival Kit? I'm made a survival kit out of 2 Altoid tins. So far i've fit a: Swiss Army Knife LED Flash Light (Size of my thumb) Cotton ball (Soaked in alcohol and secured in a bottle cap) 35 Matches (Striker taped to the inner top of the tin) and 10 bandaids What else should I add? All of the things I listed fit in one altoid tin. I have one more to fill up. Remember it has to fit in the tin. Oh yeah this is for if im lost in the woods or the desert. check out this one I found for you
1 Survival Cheat Sheet - the Universal Edibility Test, Body Signals and Ground-to-Air Signals
Shelter
1 large trash bag
1" piece of drinking straw, sealed and filled with 5.25% sodium hypochlorite bleach.
1 rubber glove
1 BSA Hot Spark
10 matches with striker & cover
2 cotton balls
1 birthday candle
2 bandaids
1 small bolt w/ nut
1 safety pin
1 small SAK
2 jig saw blades
4 fish hooks
2 fishing flies - one wet, one dry
5 split-shot sinkers
15' 15 lb. test line
1 rubber band
Remember the 3/32" hole? The tin is modified to be a handle for the saw. The kit contains coarse and fine saw blades.
A slit is milled in the top lid of the tin and has a corresponding bottom of the tin has a channel cut from the wall of the side to allow the tin to close and to add support for the blade. A 3/32" hole drilled in the tin near the same location. A jigsaw blade, similar to that used in the Gerber multitool fits through the slit and the hole in the blade is lined up with the hole in the tin. A screw and nut turn the kit into a handle for the saw blade to make a mini-saw.
The 3/32 hole is also used as a sighting system for signaling. The inside of the tin is shiny. Use the hole to point toward the plane to flash signals to them.
Notes
Water purification - water is stored in the glove. To disinfect, use the bleach. The 1" tube provides about 8 drops of bleach. Puncture it and add 2 drops per quart to sanitize water as per FEMA instruction. Curious note: the Altoids tin filled 8 2/3 times (to the bottom of the hinges) makes about a quart of water.
Distance & Height Measurement - The cord can have a loop in one end and a knot at 36" from the loop. This 3 foot measurement works with the 3/32" hole to form a basic (READ: Good 'nuf) distance/height measurement system. at 100 yards, an image fitting in the hole is 9 foot 4 1/2" tall. 2/3 of the height of the hole - 1/16", is about 6 feet.

If you were a fan in the stands, would you react like this for your team? I'm proud of my Twins, but my fellow fans are embarrassing me. Twins Beat White Sox In Game Marred By Fan Unrest MINNEAPOLIS (AP)—As Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire stormed off the field following his latest ejection, he punted his cap high over his head and back onto the turf. The emotional exit fired up his Twins and sparked them to a four-run inning. But it also ignited the Metrodome crowd to nasty results. Jason Kubel’s three-run homer highlighted an unruly seventh inning in the Twins’ 10-6 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night. The game was stopped for several minutes when fans threw hats and baseballs onto the turf and had the White Sox running for the shelter of the dugout. “I don’t like to see the game get stopped because of something like that,” Gardenhire said. “I can’t control it. What am I going to do? But my reaction out there led to something and I don’t like it. I felt bad.” Marty Foster tossed him in the seventh for arguing a called strike on Denard Span, and fans responded by tossing dozens of hats, and several baseballs, onto the field. White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen quickly pulled his players off the field, and the public address announcer warned the announced crowd of 31,493 that the Twins were risking a forfeit if the behavior continued. “I don’t want anybody to get hurt,” Guillen said. “I think the umpires did a good job taking control of the situation. I wasn’t worried about hats, but I saw a couple balls flying on to the field and thought it was a dangerous situation.” The fans settled down after about five minutes, and the Twins had a four-run inning to erase a 4-3 deficit. Joe Mauer tied the game with an RBI single and Kubel followed with his homer off Octavio Dotel for a 7-4 lead. “There were some things we don’t want to see. People throwing things on the field, all that kind of stuff,” Minnesota’s Justin Morneau said. “It almost cost us the game. It was good that it stopped, but everyone was on their feet, yelling and cheering. It kind of sparked us.” http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/recap?gid=280731109 It's a strong way of showing the Fan base thats been hiding behind a mask...ESPN could go on an hour about Yankee fans booing but when the Twins did something like this so surprising and may I say for the hat throwers supportive ESPN will say fans went crazy..Now how about those Cubs?

Do you thank a World War II Veteran when you see one? Old man wearing a red ball cap--"World War II Veteran"--under it the Globe and Anchor of the U.S. Marines. One of many. Do we remember to thank them? My father's generation--now in their 80's or 90's but just kids when world events changed their lives. Old man wearing a Navy blue ball cap--"USS Alabama"--and the Navy crest below it. Proud of his battleship, now on display in Mobile. Young man then who went to the nearest recruiter when another battleship, USS Arizona, was destroyed at Pearl Harbor. Old man wearing a green ball cap--"World War II Veteran, U.S. Infantry"--and the Infantryman's badge below it. Thanks, sir. Our country called--you answered. He might have served in North Africa, or landed on Omaha Beach. Maybe Guadalcanal. Listen to him and he might tell you about it. Old man wearing a blue ball cap--"Army Air Forces. 1944." Aircrew wings pinned underneath. If he flew bombers over Europe most of his buddies died. They once were young, full of everything a young man is supposed to be full of. Some did great deeds while others just served. Do we love them and cherish them? Do we thank them? Thousands pass on each and every day. In another decade or two most will be gone. They inspired me as a boy. Some led me as a young man. They shaped our nation. Eight of our Presidents served in this war. Do we remember to thank them? Will we thank them before they are all gone? (This was our total war. I was four years old when it ended. American servicemen, along with those of many allied countries, went to war, many not knowing much about who they were fighting or why. The world they leave is not a perfect world, but it is better for their service.) What will I do? I served in uniform 31 years, as a National Guardsman, active Air Force, and Air Force Reserve. I am now retired. Approaching age 70 I thank all veterans I meet, but I reserve a special honor to those old guys and a few gals who went off to war almost 30 years before I did. I am a Vietnam veteran and give special honors to all who served but especially to those who served in wartime. 32 years ago, when I was stationed on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, there was a band made up entirely of World War I veterans. They played in every parade, but age had weakened them to the point they could no longer march in formation. So a special trailer was built for them allowing them to travel in formation, pulled by a tractor or other vehicle. These 30 or so men are all gone now, and few if any World War I veterans are still left--those that are would be well past 100 years old. Today we are seeing the demise of the World War II veteran. Thousands of them die each and every day. Eventually the number of those dying daily will decrease as fewer are left. We Vietnam veterans are aging but are healthy for the most part. We have a few decades left before we begin (in the words of the song) to "fade away." When I was a young boy there were even a handful of Civil War survivors still alive. World War II survivors were very abundant and quite youthful and vigorous then. Yes, I have often thanked them. My father was wounded in WWll. He was 90 years old when he passed. My Dads youngest brother, my uncle also served in the Air Force during WWll & Korea. I thank you as well for your service in the Military. Our Vets our the bravest men and now women who deserve recognition! I thank a young person every time I see then in uniform. I also thank all Vets from all wars. THANK-YOU Warren!

Are any other Knick Fans Awaiting Nate to not be re-signed? It is either David Lee - who has proved to be the Knicks best player this season on a consistent basis or Nate Robinson. Who was very inconsistent this year, like always going almost 2 months shooting 15% from the field. He picked it up after the All-star break and led the Knicks in scoring in the 2nd half, but he still gave up more than he gave. Nate is a 1 dimensional player he is a scorer and a sick athlete and that is all. He is a spark plug that does not know his true position (too short for a conventional SG and too dumb to lead a team @ the point.)He can not pass or distribute and his lack of IQ for the game makes him pull the bonehead plays that he does. He is a terrible defender and has the maturity of a 5 year old. If Knicks get rid of him they get rid of the last remaining team cancer. He has foughten w/Larry Brown to Isiah(understandable),and at times Mike D. He has also foughten w/ JR Smith and Melo, his own teammate Zach Randolph, and morst recently CP3 he let'shis emotions get the better of him and it is a downfall. Lee is the opposite and by far the more superior player w/ All-star potential written all over him. Lee does not get off a lot of FG attempts cause he works and is a firm believer in the team system and not a reckloose like Nate. Lee still gets double doubles likecrazy(leads NBA), can finish w/both hands and has shown the ability to perfect his jumper and can put the ball on the floor cause of athleticism. Walsh said, Knicks can only sign 1 of the 2 for a contract extension if they want to keep hopesalive for a Chris Bosh and a complimentary All-star. Leeis the best bet and would compliment them well if they come as he can become an All-star aroundthe right pieces. Nate on the other hand is in a lot of troubleif he keeps being the 1 dimensional player that he is. Short-stature players longevity in the league is rare and those whom have done it despie their small stature have done it because they are complete ballers. Nate is nowhere near the Spudd Webb's, John Starks's,MuggsyBogues's, and Mookie Blaylocks's that have been around that would be his ultimate downfall. Also, hopefully if we clear out more cap w/ Nate gone Knicks can get Rudy Gay from Memphis in 2010 as well. He is in a small market team that is nearly bankrupt and may have to move the franchise for the3rd time.If Knicks make an offerto him Gay may bite. He is a 6th Man that would surely benefit the Knicks. He can score, rebound, hit big shots, etc(a complete player). I think Al Harrington is better than Nate and would be a better 6 Man IMO. I would love to free Jared Jeffries, but he is our only player under contract after 2010and no one would trade for him,so we have to brave it out. He's a good scorer EM at least we have to keep him

Celtics-Clippers trade? http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=9~1021~125~566~847&teams=12~12~2~2~2&te=&cash= PLEASE READ BEFORE RESPONDING: Why the Celtics would like this trade: It seems that now that Ray Allen has won a championship, he is intent on going back to the way things were in Seattle and scoring 20+ per night. There are numerous situations every game in which Ray will elect to bring the ball up himself when he clearly should be giving it up, or when he forces a three because he hasn't scored in a while. Although their record doesn't really show it, the Celtics haven't looked very good these first ten games of the season, and it seems that they may have to shake things up a little by mid-season if they want another ring. They could benefit greatly from a great low-post defender, as the loss of James Posey and P.J. Brown has led to a void in their PF/C positions past Garnett. Although Leon Powe has been great offensively, he doesn't maintain Garnett's defensive presense. Also, more veterans on the bench can help that second unit maintain the level of professionalism and work ethic that was so evident in this team last year. (two more great veteran players that don't have rings and would love to get one before they retire) Why the Clippers would like this trade: The Clippers have been massively dissapointing so far this year. Camby hasn't been seeing much playing time because of Al Thornton, and, although Baron Davis is having a good year so far statistically, it appears that he just doesn't have enough to work with in the backcourt; Ray Allen would definitely fill that void. Also, this trade puts the Clippers about 3 million below the salary cap, which means they would have about 10 million of cap space to work with next summer, which would be huge (this is really the only reason why I included Scalabrine and Tim Thomas in the deal). Let me know what you think! Ok, #1, i HATE these stupid fantasy trades. They have no basis in reality. That said, I'm a long time C's fan, have always loved the way Camby plays his "D". But even though you are right that we aren't playing great yet, it ain't time to push the panic button. We neec Ray-Ray to score. We have everybody focused on D and that is great, but we still need someone to put the ball in the hole. The C's have very few true scorers. Allen, even if he's off, like he was in the first two rounds of the playoffs last year has to be guarded. Nobody, player or coach is going to be willing to leave Ray Allen open. He spreads the floor and opens everything up. And even if he's off, you gotta let him keep shooting. He isin't going to be getting his stroke back by not shooting. Look at last night. He was so on he dropped 18 in the first quarter.
Everybody on the C's plays defense. We do need our guys that can score. I wish Allen ( and Doc) would run more plays and screens for him. If he would've taken more shots and been more aggressive last night, they might've won that game.
And let's not miss Posey too much. Yeah, he was good, I liked him and was sorry to see him go. BUT, the reason they signed Posey to begin with was because Tony Allen, who was their outside defensive specialist, had surgery and they knew he would be out for the whole season. Now he's back, and he's a great defensive player on the perimeter AND a better scorer than posey will ever be.
And don't think that Ainge isin't going to pick someone up along the way to replace P J , he will. It isin't nessesary to gut the team to pick up a few extra pieces.
As for the clippers, who gives a shit?

Fast and Hot! Miniature Hot Air Engine Miniature hot air engine running. www.moneryengines.co.uk Miniature hot air engines built by Peter Monery, a retired engineer and hot air engine enthusiast from London, England. The engine shown here is a 90 degree Vee twin configuration with cast iron pistons running directly in an aluminium cylinder block crankcase. Enclosed spaces above the pistons are connected with small diameter stainless steel tube. One cylinder has a thin walled Stainless steel hot cap and piston extension. The other a plain piston and aluminium head. The crankshaft runs on ball races, both pistons are connected to the same crankpin. The crankcase is open so the underside of the pistons is at atmospheric pressure at all times. It is unusual to hear of model hot air engines operating at high RPM, mainly because of mechanical friction that will place a limit. The 90 deg Vee twin configuration has quite good dynamic balance and small air cooled ones will run continuously at 4000 RPM or more. Hot air engines make use of the expansion and contraction of air as it moves between the hot and cold parts of the engine to move a piston that creates a mechanical action. The addition of a flywheel maintains momentum and ensures a smooth, constant rotational energy. Hot air engines are typically more efficient, cleaner and quieter than steam or internal combustion engines and can be operated by any heat source, including solar energy. This makes them extremely versatile, safe and environmentally friendly
