Has an officer ever told you "you should have run"? Driving down 322 just west of chardon, just came through the gulf and to where the 2 lanes merge into one. No other traffic to speak of. No adverse weather, No other problems anywhere... I see lights poking up over some bushes off the side of the road, I look down and i'm doing about 65, so i rock the brakes slow down and cruise by. He pulls out behind me really slowly, and creeps up behind me. Hits the lights and siren (once he was close enough to read the tag apparently) I pulled over right away, took off my helmet and waitied for him. Him: that was the fastest brake job I've ever seen, the closest thing to that was a few weeks ago a ferrari came by and dropped from 70 in a heartbeat. me: Well, i didn't rock the brakes that hard, if i had to stop i could have stopped ALOT faster than that. Him: Well, you're the first sport bike that's ever stopped for me, usually these things just jet as soon as they see me. You should have run, I couldn't have caught you. Me: I'm not some punk kid, or a criminal, I actually have some respect for the law, although it did cross my mind for 1/2 a second, I'm not a runner. Him: well i need to see your license and proof of insurance. He takes my stuff, goes and writes me a ticket, comes back with: I would have cut you a break but you were just going soo fast when i pulled you over that i just can't. Me: oh, okay, really? I mean, you really want to send out the message that if you're speeding you're better off running? Him: well, you can take that however you want, have a nice day. Seriously? Is this the kind of professionalism that we should expect out of our police officers? What a pile of sh*t, yeah let's encourage speeders to run, great idea...a**hat No. I have had police pull me over for small things, but none of them have ever said that I should have broken the law.
If you got the officer's details you could have made a fuss about it and they may have removed the fine to keep you quiet. That way everyone wins as the officer is disciplined, you may get your ticket cancelled and the next reckless rider gets pulled over.

What a pile of sh*t, yeah let's encourage speeders to run, great idea...a**hat Kyle, the bird can do well more than that charger can on open road, and can handle much better through curves, it's not a question of IF i could have ran, it's a question of putting the public safety at risk... byron, it was chester police, other side of the valley Magz, as shocking as this may be to you, I probably would have cut you a warning for that one.......unless I realized it was "Magz !! The infamous Ninja"......then I would have cut you the ticket.

I agree, that officer should pick his words better. As a cop, I know that pretty much any sport bike can get away from my Crown Vic with ease.....but I'm not going to promote them running from me. Can't speak for the intelligence of all my fellow law enforcement brothers out there....there are morons everywhere....in every profession.
The last sport bike rider that ran from me was the moron. He was not wearing a helmet and I got a look at his face. I pulled a DL image, identified him, got a warrant, found out where he worked nearby, and hooked him up. We also went to his home and seized his bike.
The idiots of the world will eventually weed themselves out.....That officer will eventually say or do something that costs him his badge.
EDIT: Chrlkres.....What "technique" do you speak of ?!? Skilled verbal judo used in a basic traffic stop where the officer is receiving total compliance from the driver ?? You have some nerve to challenge my level of experience !! You don't mention being a cop...or even a retired cop...so until you badge up and work the streets as I have for some time now, save your comments about me.
The fact remains that the officer should not have said, "you should have run from me". Whatever "technique" you think was in use, he has planted the thought of running in the driver's head. Maybe next time said driver sees the flashing lights behind him he will have been drinking.....you think it will be good for the public safety (and his) to have him make the decision to run intoxicated ?? Would he be even thinking that thought if it was not put in his head ?
Leave the police work to those of us who actually wear a badge and have the guts to patrol.

How many feet is it considered evading arrest? PC 2800.2 (a)? My Husband was dirt bike riding and a cop came from no where and ran him over charging him with felony evading 2800.2 wreckless endagerment. 148 (1) (a) resisting and PC 69 Felony resisting threats or violence; which was not the case. Originally a dui took the place of the Pc 69 and when they could not prove the DUI they stuck that Felony PC 69 in its place at the arraignment at the last moment. My husband was traveling north on a street racing on a dirtbike with some kid and out of no where the cop rammed him and ran him over (his leg), hubby only got 10 feet to 20 (if that ) away. I have the GPS records to prove so that it was only 10-20 ft that all this took place. My question is how can the officer prove that the 2800.2 is indeed a true fact on his behalf with out a dash cam and how far do you have to run to be evading police? Is there a feet or yard limit rule to follow by to consider this evading and not resisting. The officer has to follow protocals right? Light, siren and ask for him to pull over. None of these occurred, like I said I watched it all happen in a 10-15 yard radius. This does not make sense and I am sick to my stomache because of it. I am unable to sleep. His max sentence that the public defender told me was 5 years and 8 months because of two prison priors. Hubby is working and stays out of trouble working 65-70 hour weeks this was his day off and within minutes his whole life was ruined. They look at his p-work and see a bad man but that is just not the case at all, he seems to have bad luck and is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Please help me to better understand so we can fight this at the felony conference on 4/29/10 any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance. the cop was trying to pull him over but hubby had no clue he was on a dirt bike and cop knocked him off. Then he wobbled off 10 ft in fear of his life bc of a wreckless officer without any back up well if they wouldn't have hit him...he would have gone further than the 10-15 yards...so that wouldn't matter. and if he wouldn't have walked off after they hit him....then it still wouldn't matter. so really it's still all on him.
next time tell him to pull over if the cops are after him and not leave after they pull him over.
cops are more afraid of suspects as they have no idea if they have weapons on them...which is probably why he shouldn't have moved after he was on the ground. cops don't want to get shot and that's just what they're thinking if all you do is avoid them.
evading is just that...leaving while officers are trying to arrest you...it has no distance on it. ...you could evade arrest if you are just fighting them putting handcuffs on you...no distance needed.
and even though your husband wasn't convicted on the dui charge doesn't mean he wasn't drinking more than he should have been that night and was probably acting up more than he told you about. get a copy of the police report to find out what really happened that night. i wouldn't trust your husband to tell you the full truth about it.

I really must steer clear of gadget shops. Do you agree ? Hi Folks, I am fatally attracted to anything that is interesting but possibly useless. This does not do the bank accounts any good. My mountain bike now has flashing lights, digital speedo/timer thing, siren instead of a bell, etc. The Sat-Nav, the CD changer, this computer with two routers. It goes on, but I am not a wealthy bloke with money to waste. The family are well provided for, and lack little in life, but it occurs to me that I am squandering some of the kids' inheritance on myself, which adds a touch of guilt I drive a cheap car most of the time, in some sort of redemption mode. Any thoughts ? Bob It is amazing how these gadgets look so necessary when you see them in a shop.
I bought a space pen once as it looked exactly what I needed, I think I wrote a memo and that was all. I found it in the pocket of an old jacket I took to a charity shop so perhaps it wasn't as vital to have as I thought.
The other gadgets I've got are really useful though but the wife reckons I'm just strange.
