i need help with my car audio system is there anyone out there that can help me get the what I need ? I want to put an audio system into my 1997 jeep grand cheeroke i want to buy the amp sub's n box and all that But i have never done this before i want the best for the lowest cost the that sounds great and really BOOMS ya kno what iam sayin? lol But is there anyone out there that can give me some advice on what to get because iam completely lost!!?? What is the clearest and best sounding bass/subwoofer for a jeep wrangler? I'm not sure how the acoustics work in a wrangler, considering its small box-like size, but i just installed new speakers and i feel that i'm in need of bass. I'm not all about loud BOOM noises, i just would like clear sounding bass that will greatly enhance the sound of my speakers. I can't afford anything ridiculously expensive but i dont want to get anything too cheep. Any type of advise or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank You There is a lot of good shallow subs on the market now. My brother has a Pioneer 12 shallow that is about 2 years old and it sounds quite nice. Also JL Audio makes subs with enclosures just for Jeeps, but may be a little too pricey.
Shallow subs are probably the answer, they do not require a big box; perfect for limited spaces.

How do I burn a CD so that it will play on an old CD player, such as in my 2001 Jeep Cherokee? When I burn songs onto CD-R from I-Tunes or Windows Media Player, the CD plays on newer CD players or DVD players, but not in my car or on my old Pioneer Boom Box. Is there a trick to CD burn settings to enable them to play on all players? In my 2001 Jeep CD player (2001 seems like relatively new enough to play burned CDs to me), I get an "Err Disc" message, and it spits the CD back out. Sometimes it searches for the beginning of the song for 5-10 minutes, and sometimes it actually does start playing. Does anyone else have this problem? Hmmm ... Roxio costs $80. The .WAV burning sounded promising but didn't work. My Pioneer CD player is from 1995. .WAV CD had same problem on my 2001 Jeep. At first I was gong to recommend that you use CD-R disks, but I see that's what you're using. I would check to make sure that the files you are putting on your disks is in .WAV format and not mp3 format. Newer players might play the disks in the defalt format your computer is using. You have to make sure that you're using the .wav file format.

Your opinion on people who put high $ sound systems in Jeep Wranglers? I've gotten some heat from hardcore Jeepers for putting a good sound system in my Wrangler and I'm just wondering why that is. I am the kind of person who really likes my music and I do a lot of highway driving which gets really noisy with a soft top or if the top is completely down. That's why I decided to put a high quality marine rated sound system in the vehicle. It's all Polk Audio, 5 1/4" components in the dash, 6 3/4" components in the sound bar and 2 8" subs in the back. Run by 2 Polk Audio amps.. the retail value of the whole affair is near $2,000 (but thanks to ebay I paid maybe half that..) It sounds incredible and can easily over power wind noise on the highway.. and let's face it.. driving into the sunset with the top down and doors off with some Tom Petty at max volume is just pretty cool anyways! I guess maybe some "manly beer guzzling 4x4 enthusiasts" just look at me as a little 20 year old punk? I don't know.. I mean it's not like that's all I've done to the Jeep.. it's got about a grand in off road accessories already and today I just dropped another $2,400 on a 4" lift and new wheels and 33x10.5" tires.. it's definitely an off road Jeep too not just a daily commuter.. it's seen more than a few days where cleaning the mud off is a 4 hour job. So what's your opinion? Should Wranglers be strictly off road or can they be rolling boom boxes so you can have fun on the drive to the trail too? i think 2grand in your sound system in a jeep wrangler, if its got a soft top, then someone with a box cutter and screw driver, and they've just gotten themselves a nice set up for their own ride.

But for others they may think this music is a noise because they don't know how to react to a certain kind of music which they are not familiar with and sometimes music should be played in appropriate place where people can appreciate it. Like for instance when Radio Raheem enter to Sal's Pizza restaurant with his boom box playing in an intense volume, the owner demands to stop the music because he was disturbing by the noise and can't work properly. There is also an involvement of group identiy in this issue because in each society they have their own custom, tradition and value on how they listen and play their music in which other group of society cannot accept. In some cases I also experienced similar conflicts regarding this violent intrusion of music, sometimes when I was riding on a jeep, the driver open his stereo and play it in a very loud volume and I feel discomfort from the sound that I was hearing.

I tried burning the CD as .wav files only, with no luck. My Pioneer CD player is from 1995. .WAV CD had same problem on my 2001 Jeep. The older players use a different color laser. There is no way to create a CD that will play on them. They need stamped CDs, not burned.
Another thing that you should know is that there are two different formats for CD-R disks. Audio and Data. Neither will play on the real old players. Audio will play on most newer players. Data will only play on players that state they play MP3 files.
