how to replace a blinker switch? i have a 1991 jeep commanche eliminator edtion and my blinkers have stopped blinking recently, i was told the only way to fix it would be to replace the eniter stearing colum. there has to be and easier way of doing that. the lights work they just dont blink, any suggestions would be most helpful!

Why does my 93 jeep grand cherokee blinker stay solid when I turn it on? I looked in this fuse box under the hood and on the side of the dash and don't see a blinker switch or relay. I don't have my manual but was told the fuse for the blinkers is #16.. It looks like its in perfect condition... I really would prefer not having to buy the manual... any ideas? Side note- I looked at the bottom of the steering column to see if I could get in to check there but it looks like I need a special (*)star shaped tool. The lights all turn on/ not burned out... I can manual blink with the blinker switch by moving it up and down. It does not make any noise when i turn the signal on.. the dash indicators stay solid.. I will look at the bulbs to see if I can tell if there are any burnt filaments but I don't think thats it. If you turn on the 4 way flashers does everything work, No Lights out, Side Lights also? In the Fuse/Relay Box under the Dash there are two Cylinder/Round Flasher Units (Relays), T-Signal & 4 Way Flasher. if All Lights are Good? then One or both Units are Bad. (If the Lights are coming on, Flashing or Not, the System Fuse is Good. Hope This Helps!

I have a 1978 jeep cj5 with blinker problems. Can the front blinker and back blinkers be on different fuses? I replaced turn signal switch which got the front blinkers working. No luck with the back blinkers. Both bulbs are brand new. I have no hazzard switch set up, so I can't test the lights that way. Can the front blinkers and back blinkers be linked to different fuses? Thanks for the help!!! Nope. They're on the same fuse. But it should be easy to find the problem as all of the wiring is pretty much exposed. I would guess that the problem is with a bulb socket, or a bad ground, or both. Because Jeep wiring is often exposed to elements that normal cars aren't, it's a problem that requires constant vigilance.
Talk to an automotive electrical guy (I know....expensive, right?) or buy a cheap multimeter and look for a good tutorial online. It's not hard to do, and you can learn something about your Jeep and feel proud.
The essence of owning a Jeep isnt paying others to do your work, it's all about self reliance. IMHO

How do I fix a blinker problem with my 2002 jeep wrangler? My left turn signal will not work sometimes, other times it works fine. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Also the dim switch for my odometer seems to be acting funny. It is either off or really bright. I think the two might be related. sounds like you have an intermittent blinker fluid pump..................................

2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport blinker problem? We have replaced the whole blinker switch and that didnt fix the problem. The hazards work as does the brights which are both operated with the blinker switch. However the blinkers do not work on the inside or outside of the car. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or know of a website to find out. My husband thinks its a relay or fuse and can fix it with the appropite part. If you know of a website that gives instructions on how to fix it i would appreciate that too. Flasher unit... It can sometimes be found right in the fuse-box or mounted to a clip under the dash. It's usually round in shape and can be plastic or metal. You may want to look in the manual. It may show you exactly where it is. Takes all the guess work out of it. NOTE: Most cars have 2 of these flasher units: One for the turn signals and one for the 4 way hazards. In your case, it's the turn signal one that needs replacing.

blinker problems with 2001 jeep grand cherokee? I recently bought a 2001 gand cherokee. everything was fine but all of a sudden my blinkers quit working. I set an appt. to have a new switch put in. right before the appt. the blinkers started working again. less than a week after the switch was put in, they quit working again.Anybody have any clues as to what to check now? the blinker fuse is built into the switch, thats why i had the switch replaced. didn't help, none of my blinkers work,inside or outside.nobody seems to know what to do,except for tracing the wiring which could get really expensive. somebody mentioned possibly a short but if it were a short, wouldn't the fuses blow? all the fuses are ok.just really ticks me off and i really don't want to trade it in,being i just bought it 3 mos. ago.and no, there wasn't a warranty with it.any help would be greatly appreciated. i'm at my wits end with it. the one time they did decide to start working, it was sitting still in my driveway and just popped on. my wife went to a site and it made a statement about the wiring in these weren't very powerful and i have added a 120 watt amp and subwoofer to it, is it possible this could have anything to do with it? I don't think it would cause i have this wired directily to the battery Have you checked the blinker fluid? It could be low. But seriously it could have something to do with the hazard light switch. If the hazard switch is faulty it can leave an open circuit to the turn signals. Even when the hazard switch is in the off position. This will cause your turn signals to not work because it is the same as if your hazard lights are on even though they aren't. I wouldn't go to a stealership. Take it to a mechanic you can trust if you have one. If you don't then go to the dealership. Good Luck!

My Right Blinker Freeze's on me when i brake in my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo? and when i turn on the right blinker and turn the steering wheel right it also freezes so do i need to replace the bulb,the wiring,the switch or what? Also my Front Windshield Wipers don't work anymore is it the Motor,The Switch or What? Pretty easy fix - just top off your blinker fluid. Most people don't know that the old blinker fluid should be changed every 150000 blinks. It's cheap only about $10 for a bottle that will last you easily the life of the car. What does the other switch in jeep Cherokee on the left side do? In jeep cherokee there are 2 switchers on the left side.. ok. I have a 2003 jeep cherokee with blinker issues? I have a 2003 jeep cherokee and the blinkers work sometimes and sometimes they don't. We have replaced the multifunction switch 4times since December and that is not the problem. When they don't work I have NO outside turn signal or no inside indicator lights either, but flashers work all the time. When the blinkers are not working my keyless entry messes up too. Any thoughts? i am in united states and it is a grand cherokee, so if you dont know anything about them, why respond? Are you in the UK or Europe? If so, American readers note that this is probably actually a "Jeep Liberty" to you.
Otherwise, since they killed off the original Cherokee in 2000, making 2001 the last model year (very stupid move, as it was easily their best model), might you mean a Grand Cherokee?
I don't actually have any insights into the electrical issue, just wanted to be sure what we're actually talking about.

2004 jeep wrangler blinker problem? my 2004 jeep wrangler's blinker quit working, my brother n-law has checked all wires they all come up working, I even changed the turn switch. does anyone have any suggestions on what else i can try to see what the problem is? I also changed the fuses,flasher ect. when i would use the turn signal they would work then stop working so basically they would blink a few times then stop. then they suddenly just stopped working all togeather. I also used my emergency flashers alot becuase I am a mail carrier so possibly using the flashers caused something? What other problem did you have before the signals quit?
Something that stopped all functions from the signals has to be either a feed or ground IF the flasher is good.

Hot wire from the flasher 1 and it should blink underload, but not with a test light or DVM. In other words using a test light the flasher wire should be powered steady.
All the rest of the switch is switchable.
You should also get a hot wire when the brake pedal is pushed. Check for power at the brake switch,key off.
