If you had the choice of only having a rear light or head light on your bike, which would you choose? I have a front-facing flashlight mounted on my bike. On campus, however, many of the students ride around with only a red rear light. Which is more important? Thanks. Both Lights are equally important. When you're talking about bicycle lights you're not talking about seeing the road as much as being seen and if your riding is confined to on campus it's most likely well lite, so that being said if I had to choose I'd choose the rear light. If there is any road riding involved I'd have both. I personally do a lot of night riding on highways and city streets and always run both. We are trained to hold the flashlight at head level during field interviews because in a shooting, there is a natural tendency to shoot for the light. Added to the fact that most shots miss high, and there is a tendency for an officer in a gunfight to crouch, this increases the chance of the rounds going above the officer's head.
Most police officers carry small flashlights, like Sure-Fire rather than Maglites. Maglites make poor impact weapons because the inertia in a forward strike usually damages the bulb, rendering it useless as a light. If I was to strike a suspect, I would use my ASP baton - designed as a defensive tool.

Why do most American cars usually have cheap looking head lights? To me, lights usually make or break a car,aside from rims. But the thing is that most American cars have plastic cheap lights with round flashlight bulbs inside them. (the old Mustang tail lights Chrysler Pacifica tail lights most of Dodge's vehicles ). But it seems companies like Mazda and Honda do it big on most of their cars. Even a Honda Civic has lot of substance in their design and materials. They have futuristic looking lights ty look way better. Am I missing something?
