Anyone remember these flashlights from the 1990's? I grew up in the 1990's and I remember two flashlights I had at that time. I was wondering if anyone had and/or remembered these two flashlights: The Garrity Mini Rugged Lite series model R300G which I first remember seeing in the summer of 1998 (I was 11 years old). It's body was probably made of a hard plastic and had rubber shock absorbers on the head switch and tail. Took two AA batteries. Came in yellow green orange and blue, and had a krypton bulb. ALSO It came packaged with a 1 AA keichain light and stickers. I have owned several of them since. I cannot find it anywhere online for a reasonable price. AND The other one was made by Brinkmann. I remember seeing it in the summer of 1996 and had one until the bulb burned out and at the time I thought the flashlight was no good anymore (I was 9 years old). It was made of I guess polycarbonate plastic, was black in color and had a glow in the dark head, along with a krypton bulb, and took 2 AA batteries. IF anyone knows where I can find these lights I would appreciate the help.

ALSO It came packaged with a 1 AA keychain Cool Beam flashlight which I gave to my dad to put on his car keys and stickers which I gave to my little sister. I have owned several of them since. I cannot find it anywhere online now, and I am really disappointed. Just wondering if you remember it and would like to see it come back on the market? lol i dont really remember any flashlights but a picture would sure help if you can dig one up

how do you replace the batteries of a Garrity flashlight? Unscrew the head assembly where has a bulb. Remove one wire at the side of square battery. Put a new 6 volts square battery and put back the wire. Screw back the head and test.

How long would a flashlight stay lit if powered by 2 Duracell AA batteries (approx.) ? I have a small Garrity flashlight I needed to know about how long it will last if it stays on constantly? There's quite a bit of information on Garrity's site. Since you didn't specify which flashlight you have, I chose the rubber Tuff Lite® for you. It appears to have a bulb nominally rated at 2.2v and .47a (470ma).
The difference in voltage between the 2 batteries (3v) and the bulb voltage (2.2v) is typically lost in the resistances associated with the battery, switch, and bulb contacts.
Duracell MN1500 AA batteries are rated at 2850 maH. Ref 1. Most likely that is the capacity when discharged over a 20 hour period. You'll get less if you discharge them faster. Ref 2.
Dividing 2850 maH by 470 ma, and without giving the batteries a rest, you might expect about 5 hours of continuous use.
From Garrity's technical page: "To get 200 hours of service from a quality incandescent flashlight, you'd have to buy 80 batteries and 17 new bulbs." Ref 3.
Their numbers suggest that a pair of batteries will give you about 5 hours of light.
My wild guess just plucked out of the ether is that the number you're looking for is 5 hours.

What's a good flashlight? Need a flashlight as a gift, wife, Xmas. Sturdy, durable, fit in a purse for travel (not a Garrity: locked up so we can't change batteries). If you want a flash light that's MUCH better than the average garrity, maglight, or whatever else, then you're going to want to look at brands like Fenix and SureFire. Both will have compact, bright, powerful flashlights that, although not the cheapest, will out perform anything you can find at a local store.
Some outdoor retailers might carry these, ie. Sportsmans Warehouse, Cabelas, Outdoor world....etc.
You can also get them online. They make flashlights small enough to run one one AAA battery, but will out power the 4D maglight. the difference is all in the bulb. They use xenon and CREE bulbs, which stay bright longer and brighter than others will.
A less expensive, small, compact model will run about $15-35 - but they're worth it.

Question about Garrity flashlight? I bought this flashlight about 7 years ago. Worked great for a year or 2, it was as bright as a police flashlight! Now it is super dim. I tried fresh batteries, even changed the bulb, no difference at all. There is nothing I can tell that is actually wrong with it, it is just so dim it is all but worthless. Anybody have any thoughts, suggestions, or advice? How about a recommendation for a brand that will stay bright, and not break or go dim very fast? It's not rocket science, it's just a flashlight! Serious answers, please! I have tried various batteries. It has never made a difference. The replacement bulb was the correct one for this flashlight. Anybody have anything else? My serious answer is that you have either replaced the bulb with the wrong replacement, or the batteries you changed to were already weak. Even some batteries straight off the shelf *can* be weak. If the bulb is indeed the same type the flashlight originally took, then try another set of batteries. Chances are pretty good that was the only problem. Garrity is a very decent brand of flashlight that should last for years.

what chemical should i use as an electrical contact cleaner for a flashlight? i have an old Garrity Tuff Lite from 1998, that I found in my momś shed today. the contacts are black (instead of a brass color) and is really detrimental to the conductivity and brightness of the flashlight. what should is use as a cleanser to restore it to decent working order? i guess what i should be asking is, would mineral spirits work? You don't need chemicals. Take some fine sandpaper or a fine file and just lightly scrape the crud away.
