Marriage survival kit? When I got married a friend of mine made us a funny survival kit with all kinds of things in it. But now I google them and they only show sentimental stuff or you know...life advice, stuff like that. I was going to make one for my cousin and I want it all to be a joke like mine was. I know she put 2 cans of spaghettios and one said her night to cook and the other said his night to cook. There was lube that said if you're ever in a jam here I am. There was a party hat that was labled her party hat with a condom taped inside that was labled his party hat. I can remember a few other things (a towel, a flashlight, earplugs, a bandaid, I think a chapstick) but I can't remember what they were labled, but anyways they were all really funny and everything in there was something we would be able to use. Some sexual...What I'm getting at is does anyone have any ideas for this that aren't the cheesy life lessons like the paper clip to hold it together and the rubberband to be flexible...I dont want the serious stuff and I mean c'mon....who really wants to open a box full of stupid stuff like a paperclip, a rubber band and a thumb tack? lol We had stuff we could use...the spaghettios and the flashlight and the towel...and the *cough* lube. no comment. lol I used the earplugs a couple times for sure. lol Pad of Paper: His To Do List 1)Make her happy, cause if she ain't happy your not gonna be happy. My mother in law tells me I put my kids to bed too early..what time do you put your little ones down at night? I have two very active little girls. One is 6 and the other is 4. I have to wake them up at 7am for school in the morning. I start getting them ready for bed around 7pm and by the time teeth are brushed and our story is read it is about 7:15. I then allow them to each look at a few books in their beds with their little Hannah Montana flashlights for 10 minutes. By 7:30 it's lights out and night night time. They never complain about it and fall asleep quite quickly. I then have to wake them up in the morning (They don't wake up on their own which means they would have slept even longer). My mother in law is constantly telling me that I put my kids to bed too early and that it is mean. I think it is mean to allow them to stay up and be grumpy all day. She'll often make a point of conveniently coming to visit around 6:30-6:45pm just to force me to put the kids to bed a little later or she'll call and ask why we never go to visit her in the evenings. I keep the girls quite busy during the day with indoor and outdoor play and they are only allowed one hour of TV which they usually watch after supper in their PJ's before bed. What do you think? Am I a mean mommy? I thought I was doing what was best for my children's health and well being. PS - They go to bed at 8:30 on weekends and we are more flexible with TV time on Saturdays. Looks like flexible conduit but stays the way you bend it? Lamps, lights, etc.? I have this little flashlight, the head is separated from the body by what looks like conduit or a long spring. It's very easy to bend and stays the way you bend it. I have a lamp with the same thing between the post and the lights so you can aim them. I've also seen it used for microphones. I've been searching for a small diameter version of this stuff, like on the flashlight. It's confusing because I just get conduit in my searches. 1. Does this stuff have a specific name? 2. Are there any good web sites to buy from (preferably in small quantity) or can you just get some at the hardware store? Yes like the USB lights. Putting them together... great alternative thanks! You mean like those USB Snake Light? I dont know what they call the materials but if you need to you can buy a bunch at about 3 bucks each and cut and connect them to your liking. Just an idea. May be try your search with "flexible conduit"

How can I battle frustration and stress at work? It's not normal job frustration--I like the work I do. It's the people I report to and work with that are causing the frustration and stress. My manager can't manage his way out of a paper bag with a flashlight and a road map. My project manager doesn't manage any of the projects I'm working on--the manager is trying to do this with mixed results. My technical lead is technically suited to data entry only, but is really sweet. I have no opportunity for advancement. The reward for all of my hard work is MORE WORK. Many of my co-workers abuse the privilege of working from home and our flexible hours. I've searched in vain for another job within 50 miles, but there are no suitable openings. I don't want to air my concerns and be labelled a trouble-maker, whiner, or negative. What can I do??? If you have a human resources department at your work, you could try to talk to them, just to get it off your chest if nothing else. Otherwise, if there's truly no opportunity for advancement, then you have to either grin and bear it or find another job.
My impression is that there are slackers and incompetents pretty much anywhere you work. You just have to keep doing your best and hope that you'll be recognized and rewarded in turn.

Has anybody ever been tied up in a home invasion robbery, or known someone that has? 2 weeks ago i woke up a little after 3 ocklock in the morning to bright lights shining in my eyes. I live alone, and in a good neighborhood so i keep the window cracked open in the bedroom when it is warm. The lights turned out to be several flashlights held by men in ski masks standing over my bed. One held my arms down, and another clamped a gloved hand over my mouth, telling me they were here to rob my apartment and that if i cooperated i would not be hurt. I was scared and i did as they said. They led me around my home and made me show them where the valuables were, and write down my pin codes for my cards. Oddly my fear quickly turned to embarrassmant when tey led me back to the bedroom and told me to lie face down on the bed and put my hands behind my back, since i figured they were going to tie me up. I am into yoga and pilates, and thought being flexible like i am i would be out of the bonds in no time. However, they tied my wrists tightly behind my back, my ankles together, then my arms and knees. Finally, while still laying on my stomach, they bent my knees and tied my wrists to my ankles, so that my fingers were actually touching the soles of my feet. Tio make matters worse, they gagged me as well. I was tied like that for 6 hours, before i finally was able to roll off of the bed, get to a phone, and dial 911 with my toes. Because i was gagged, i could not speak clearly, but they sent the police anyways. I was so humiliated to be found hogtied and gagged on the floor of my own home. It took the police 20 minutes to get me completely untied. I was suprised that the experiance was more humiliating then frightening. Has anyone ever had to deal with something like this? not me or any one i knew -- my heart goes out to anyone that this has happen to!!!

Has anyone ever been the victim of a home invasion robbery? I'm a forty two year old fitness instructor for a well known health club, married just shy of ten years now. My husband works what he calls the graveyard shift, overnight. One month ago, i woke up in the middle of the night to 3 masked intruders standing over my bed with flashlights shining in my eyes. To make a long story short, i spent the next 4 hours hogtied and gagged in my bed, my husband finally coming home and discovering me all tied up. The intruder took everything of value, and they have taken my being able to sleep alone at night away from me too. I have asked my husband to switch over to day shifts, but he refuses, telling me that i need to get over it. Although i was very frightened as it happened, i am mostly dealing with feelings of shame now. It was humiliating to me for him to find me bound and gagged. Being in good shape and flexible because of my profession, i thought i would be able to wiggle out of the ropes shortly after the burglars left, but they used an excessive amount of rope and tape, quite a good job unfortunately, and i am embarrassed by not being able to free myself too. I guess i am just looking for someone who has been through something like this for some moral support. Thanks, Dawn I think you liked it, maybe you should become a bondage model. What do you think of this as a college English 101 essay? Any comments would be greatly appreciated? Almost all elementary students across America are presented with a reading log on the first day of school, some believe this to be useful to a fulfilled education but some think that this is only holding our ideas back and making us not want to read. So many parents, teachers, or just plain individuals have been questioning the usefulness and intent of this so called reading log. A few of the people who have debated over the worthiness of a reading log are Mr. Richard Roundy, Mrs. Jodi Fur, and Miss Vicki Young. These individuals are completely different people but they all have at least one thing in common, their fascination with required reading logs. One of these individuals is Mrs. Jodi Fur. Fur and her husband continually read to their children and both find it soothing that they live in a home where their children “will sneak a flashlight under their covers to finish a book way after bedtime”. In her rant, “I hate Reading…Logs”, Fur states how appalled she is that schools actually “use food and candy as rewards” for reading. She goes on to say that reading logs only stress out her children and how it is even worse that these students only read for a reward, the joy of books is lost. Fur wants her children to enjoy reading for themselves, not just for the reward of a snickers bar. At the end of her rant Fur makes her stance on the issue clear by firmly stating that “I just don’t believe required reading logs are fundamentally important for every single student from Kindergarten to 12th grade.” Unlike Jodi Fur, eighth grade teacher Mr. Richard Roundy finds it quite helpful towards his students to include a numbered list of ideas for reading logs in the curriculum at the beginning of the year. Instead of simply telling his students what to read Roundy gives them a wide variety, the only rules are that they must choose a book they want to read form the classroom library, the school library, or any other source. The students are then required to write a two-page reading log that must be handed in every week. To really get his students into reading all types of literature Roundy does not limit these logs to fiction, but permits the use of biographies, poetry, and some non-fiction. He also allows his students to feel free by giving them the option to “choose which type of logs they will write, with one rule: they are only allowed to choose option #7 (drawing a picture) once per book. I’ve received many interesting and creative reading logs that were inspired by option #12 (use your imagination to invent your own type of log)”. The following is an example of a readers log completed by one of his current students, a violinist, who enjoys reading biographies of famous composers. “He wrote one short violin piece for each of the books her read. He played the piece for me then handed in a paragraph about how the piece related to the composer’s music or life. He enjoyed the reading, he made meaningful connections between reading and a personal pursuit, and both of us enjoyed his playing”. This student fulfilled exactly what Roundy wanted out of his students, “the idea that is not only to get students hooked on reading, but to get them hooked on being thoughtful about what they read”. The complete opposite of Richard Roundy would have to be Miss Vicki Young. Instead of allowing her students to be flexible, Young stuck to a more structured style while assigning reading logs. Young “incorporated reading logs in a course of English for economics and finance which focused on communication skills in an international business environment”. Just to see how her students took this new way of doing things, Young asked her students to fill out a questionnaire concerning the reading log activity. About two-thirds of her “students agreed that reading logs helped familiarize them with terms, issues, and writing styles in the field of business”. One student went so far as to comment that the “logs were meaningful and broadened his knowledge” on business related topics. Instead of only focusing on the business aspect of everything, about 50% of her students “believed that the activity actually helped with their writing skills”. About “76% felt that their understanding of the article was enhanced after writing in their logs”. Many students stated that by sharing their logs with a partner they “were exposed to a variety of topics in the field. The activity gave them a chance to practice their spoken English and share their ideas with the class”. Although most students were thrilled by the reading activities and being paired up for discussions, they were “less positive towards writing and whole-class discussion”. The only reason why they had a less positive attitude towards writing and whole-class discussions was because they were worried about grammar errors, the clarity of their ideas as they showed their logs to their partners, and also about speaking English in front of its good now give me best answer haha
