How can i make a wind up torch/flashlight? i need to make an electricity efficient torchlight so i decided im going to make one that is wind up please tell how i can make it and if possible suggest a store from which i could buy it i live in south africa and i have tried calling most big name stores to en quire about it but all of them have said that they do not stock it I don't know where you can buy one where you live, but I can tell you a little about how they work, and maybe you can make one.
The generator in a wind-up handheld flashlight is like a small motor with a lot of gears attached to it. The crank lets you turn the gears, which spins the motor at high speed. Sometimes a small battery or capacitor is added to the output of the motor so that there is light for a little longer than just when you're cranking it.
You could use a cheap cordless drill as a source for the motor and gears- they're already attached to each other, and in the "low" speed mode, there should be quite a large gear ratio.
Another version I once had included a small flywheel on the motor, and a method to let the motor and flywheel keep spinning after you stopped with your hand power. It would only go for a second, but it was enough to make the light more even while you were using it.
If you make your own, the hard part will be figuring out what your output voltage is, and finding a type of light bulb that will both be bright enough and won't burn out all the time.

I'm looking to buy a really bright flashlight (Torch) to mount on my airsoft gun's railing? My gun is a Classic Army G36C if that helps. I need it to be pretty bright for night games. Can I take a flashlight, torch, with me to the plane? I have a fenix tk30 its about 9 inc 20 cm long I want to take to the plane with me in my bag without batteries and i can make it smaller if i take it apart around 5 inches then with 3 inches head diameter .Is it allowed? Thnaks very unlikely, basically you cant take on a weapon or something that could be used as one. the lens could be broken to give sharp ages and the torch could be used as a cosh. also you could argue a need to have it on the plane

Yes, that will work just fine, I have a dboys m4 s-system, and I use silicon to clean my barrel every week or so. Just make sure you dont leave a lot of excess in the barrel, or else it will lower your FPS.

Yes, that is not an LED torch but a torch of equivalent size that uses LEDs This depends very much on the torch, you can get from 1 to about 30, and of course you can get different LED's, normal ones or super bright. I have a single LED head torch that will allow me to run through a woodland in the dark however an older 5 LED head torch is dimmer than that.

What are the advantages of a paraffin lamp over a torch (flashlight)? I always prefer a paraffin lamp to a torch while camping, but that's just because I'm old-fashioned. But I understand there are advantages - what are they? Torch batteries will run down quickly on continuous usage whereas the lamp will keep going for hours on one fill. A lot better for reading in bed. It also give a much better spread of light though not too bright. I prefer to use the gas type of camping light. It gives a brighter light and will last a long time on each cannister.

You know the flashlight called Torch that can set paper on fire? Is it possible to collimate the beam so? you have a powerful ray gun like in Star Wars? I suppose that you are thinking of turning this into a weapon. Setting paper on fire is not such a big deal, ignition point is generally low and paper, which is mostly cellulose, is essentially a fuel so it burns easily once the ignition temperature is passed.
Even if you can collimate this beam properly, losses during propagation and beam diffraction would be enormous to make significant damage. Laser ray may do the trick, but it is very material dependent in that some material will melt and some other will not.

How can I make a flashlight/ torch continually fluctuate like a candle flame? Is there anyway I can do this with normal screw head flashlights? I want to create a dim to bright unstable light... anyone? thanks Dip it in water !!!
