Earlier today, I made a wand. I took a branch from a tree, sanded it down to make it smooth and painted it.
It would be the coolest thing EVER if I could take apart a mini-flashlight and use the parts to make the tip light up. I'm absolutely sure this is impossible for a 13 year old girl and her dad to do, but I though I'd still ask. Any ideas?
perhaps 1-4 3v leds at the top and 2 24 gauge wires going to the 2 AA batterys? telephone wire insulation can be ripped open and used if you have none on hand, and just rip apart an old toy to get the leds and battery holder or go to radioshack for the lot. if you want it to look cooler you can drill a hole in a ping pong ball and stick it on the end of the wand and jam the leds inside of it. make all connections using solder. connect leds in parallel to avoid dimness of the bulbs. also wrap connections with tape to prevent shorts.

It is possible the bulb may be bad. Check the bulb and see if you can see the filament (small wire across two leads). If that's not the problem, then return the flashlight and get a replacement.

There are 3 things that could be wrong not just 2.
The light bulb is burned out, the light bulb is the end of the line for the energy released by the battery.
The battery could be bad, the battery stores energy required to make technology work.
The 3rd thing could would be the wires connecting the battery and the light bulb, if the wire is no longer between the 2 there is no path for the energy (electrons) to travel from the battery to the light bulb.

I assume you mean now day Eveready flashlights (not the old ones that were nickel plated).
There are more than 4 parts... There is the lens, reflector, bulb, bulb fastener (not every light has one), switch, spring contact, metal contact (I don not know the name, but it runs from the top to the bottom), body, bezel, and some other things depending on models.
There are far more parts in a quality flashlight. Eveready does not make quality lights when compared to Surefire, Pelican, Peak, Inova, etc.

I need help finding the size of the resistor, the type of switch and what's the squiggly line thing on the top right of the schematic, and what parts would I need for it? (Sorry, I am an eighth grader who has to build this for science... So excuse me for the poor knowledge)
The resistor values given are in ohms. You'll also need a wattage for them. I recommend 1/4 watt. These are standard values.
The two transistors are labelled, 2N3904, and 2N3906. These are popular, and easy enough to find as well.
Two "C" size batteries are straightforward. I recommend a battery holder for them though.
Use whatever switch you like, and whatever LED you like too.
The two vertical lines above 2N3904 represent a capacitor. The top right "squiggle" is called an "inductor" or coil.
Without analyzing the whole circuit, my guess is that the capacitor and inductor work together to do one of two things: flash, or stay on once the battery is switch off. Depending on the speed of the flash, or the length of time you want them to stay on, will determine what value to choose.
For an approximation, I'd start with C = 1 uF (1 micro farad)
Your experiment might be to try a few different values for L (the inductor, also called a "coil"). Choose them in multiples of 10. 1 milli Henry (mH), 10 mH, 100 mH, etc.

When I finished playing, I had hastily put on my better pair of Adidas shoes. This video is of the moment after i finally took off my shoe since I tossed them on my muddy socks. Now the inside of the shoe is dirty enough where it gets my socks a bit muddy every time I put them on. All of my socks never stay perfectly white because of this XD. I found this local road that has water that runs over it after it rains a lot. On the side of the road where the water flowed, there is a bit of wonderful mud and puddles!
