Why should I use candle lanterns rather than a flashlight, candle holder or headlamp?
What's the best laser diode protection circuit I can make with just resistors and capacitors? So I bought a 240mw red laser diode from a burner, and an AixiZ module. I have a 2 cell battery holder, or a 3 cell flashlight. I have a ton of resistors and a few capacitors, no LM317s or anything, so my guess it I'm stuck with the 2 cell battery holder, but using just caps and resistors, how should I wire it to maximize life?
I want it to be at least 150MW...
put the biggest resistor you can between the diode and the batteries. That reduces the current and will increase life.

You can buy a mini tri-rail that fit on the mag extension - there's some guy on YouTube posted what he did, but I forgot the title of his post.
Any ways, fixing the flashlight on the barrel or extension may not be want you want because you either have to turn the light on and leave it on as you make the approach to the combat zone or you have to take your pump hand off the forearm grip and turn it on during the confrontation - not a good idea.
Lots of people including me prefer the light on the pump grip so you can access the control and not take you hand out of position. The only possible downside to this is that the light gets a double whammy from the recoil and when you pump the action, which could cause accelerated wear on the flashlight. I have a Surefire LED flashlight which is still working after nearly 2 years, so maybe it's not really that big a deal.

No. The only way magnetism can influence an electrical potential is if the fields fluctuates (like in a running electric motor, for instance, or in a electro magnet running on alternating current) through induction.

since the idea is to have rugged and reliable firearms, yet not lose your butt if someone finds them, I'd put a couple of makerov pistols, a couple of Yugo or russian SKS riflles and an M44 nagant or 2 , and one bolt action .22 rifle like a savage etc. along with plenty of ammo, and I'd install it in at least 2 different locations. One buried shallow for quick access, and one deep. This of course would be just emergency hidden supplies. my personal firearms are readily available at all times, and are much more expensive in nature.

Nerf Nitefinder modded for HvZ My eight dollar Nerf Nite Finder. It sucked pretty bad when I got it. Horrible range, so I modded it. It has a legitimate, large sized compression spring replacing the crappy nerf one in the plunger tube. That alone makes it shoot like three times harder and further. It has the stupid red laser thing taken out, because it was pointless. I dremeled out the hole for it and placed a real LED flashlight in there, and rewired the button to be on the side of the gun to turn it on. Took the old batter holes for the red light and converted them to dart holders, so I can have two more. The rubber bands cause the slide to move forward slightly faster, giving more power. The barrel has had the air restrictor removed, and the dissipator drilled through the center. I have also modded the darts, making them stefan darts, as people call them. Mine are cheater versions of the real ones, but they operate twice as well as regular darts. They are regular darts cut in half and glued at one end, with a weight glued in so it flies straight. They are actually pretty painful to get hit with for a nerf dart. And I think that s it.
