Suggestions for additional motorcycle lighting, LED or non-LED? Will be riding cross country from east coast to Arizona and want to illuminate my bike more. It is a suzuki boulevard 650 (aka savage). Any info on legal issues also helpful. Thanks. I know it's going to be rough on the bike, that's the only bike I have. Thanks for the advice though. Any suggestions on brands or websites to find these products also appreciated. Thanks again for all the help. Add LED lights to light up the back end. You don't really want to use non-LED on that particular bike since it does not have the voltage output to properly power extra lights without overworking your charging system. There's a lot of different aftermarket LED lights out there with Kuryakyn probably being the best known.

Why did they evacuate the various Federal buildings after the East Coast quake? Just wondering why that's done is all. (Last time I felt a quake [in Las Vegas] was a few years ago; a 7.0 out in the desert led to about a 4.0 here. Enough to feel like my bed was a boat... happened at 2:45AM or so.) My guesses

Dominique’s windmill dunk may have been superb but it’s been done in the past by many of the previous elite dunkers (Dr. J, Connie Dawkins to name a few). When you originate a new style of dunk or increase boundaries (because it takes more major hops to jump from the free throw line and dunk) then judges will give more weight to originality over a perfect dunk that they have seen done countless times. I’ll give you an example. In the 1992 Slam Dunk Contest, there was Larry Johnson, Cedric Ceballos, John Starks, and Nick Anderson competing. It came down to Larry Johnson and Cedric Ceballos as the finalist. Cedric basically blind folded himself and ran towards the rim and dunked. To be honest, he wasn't a media creation or a manufactured hero. In my opinion, being a great basketball player does not equate to being a hero.
Was he built up by the media? Absolutely.
Was he a genius at handling the media? Yes, definitely. He had a way of being charismatic and confident without sounding arrogant or cocky.
Over the years, he had some image problems from the gambling scandals in the early 90's to the whispers from the Washington that Jordan treated his teammates on the Wizards badly.
But never once should his basketball ability be in question and that is, lets face it, what made him such an appealing hero to many kids and even some adults. He became a global icon because of his acrobatic dunks and hang time fadeaways. -People loved him; he was to many (those who hadn't seen Julius Erving play) the original, the first, basketball player to play above the rim, and be successful at it.
His game was always exciting; people loved seeing his tounge out while slashing to rim. But then that raises the question of why Dominique wasn't as highly regarded as Jordan. He too played above the rim and was pretty successful (out of 10 years, in 5 of the years the Hawks won 50 or more game). The reason was simple: Jordan was easily better. He played both sides of the court and was more of a finesse acrobatic player than Wilkins who on the other hand, always preferred to drive to the rim and flush it down with power instead.
So, Jordan may have been built up the media as a 'hero' but it was his ability that got him that attention. And more importantly, his success. When a player wins championships as the star player, they obviously become more popular. Many forget that before Jordan won a championship in 91 vs. the Lakers, the media often compared him to Magic or Bird in a distasteful way: they said that he was not a team player and was simply another one man show. Once he started winning, all that changed. I mean when a guy wins 6 championships and two three peats while being the best player in the game on the best team in the game, it gets hard to insult him as a basketball player.
Jordan was very lucky to have started playing basketball and winning after Magic and Bird were in the decline of their careers. Basketball was at an all time high after the Lakers-Celts rivalry and Jordan was able to feed off that. He was able to get the image of the 'next great basketball ambassador' and that Bird and Magic were stepping down so he could have his turn on the throne. It was a dramatic story and the media off that.
So, my answer is Magic, Bird, or Jordan were media creations just like any other top athlete, but in no more of a way than rockstars and actors. In the end, all entertainers (athletes, actors, musicians) are somewhat of a creation; that's what the entertainment businesses thrive on. And if that made him a hero to the some of the American Public, then that's their choice.
I admire Jordan, Magic, and Bird as some of the greatest basketball players of all time but that's the extent of my appreciation. I am not naive enough to believe they were amazing people or anything like that.
As I said earlier, in no way IMO does being a great athlete and an amazing basketball player warrant someone to be called a hero. Heroes are the firemen in 9/11, the soldiers who fight in Iraq. Jordan, though more famous than any of those people, is not a hero. And I would like to think most people can see that.

A and C are the most prominent reasons. B was a situation that the US was well able to deal with without a full scale war. Its inclusion suggests your teacher is ignorant of the details of the reason for declaration of war - it was less a result of the fact that American ports were blockaded than that foreign ports were effectively closed to American trade by the British as a fallout from the Napoleonic wars.

What are the pros/cons of living in California, as opposed to NJ/NYC/east coast? I've been living on the east coast my whole life and things are so screwed up here, I don't even know where to begin. The weather sucks between nov/dec and march, and the changes just make it harder for you to keep up with yardwork, yadda yadda, the people are mean, materialistic, and violent. Everything is overpopulated like hell, and all in all it just sucks. It's also very fast paced and all about money. Is live on the west coast/California any different? I personally want to get the hell OUT of here, and want to try someplace new,but I"m not sure where to go. California seems like at least open-minded and cool like the NYC metro area is, I don't want to move to some small-minded hick state, but I heard it's got its own problems and might be even worse than the east coast, which is what led me to ask, What are the PROS/CONS of living out there, compared to here? Weather is ideal.
People are going to be very open-minded.
People are for the most part very laid-back.
No matter where you go, there are assshole drivers...haha.
Cost of living is insane here, probably about the same as East Coast.

Who is better band/musician out of the following, and whats your favorite song by the winner and the loser? Pick the better band out of the following pairs, and explain why you chose the band. I tried to think of ones that I really had a hard time choosing between. Who do you think is the better band: -Coldplay/U2 -Red Hot Chili Peppers/Pearl Jam -The Beatles/The Rolling Stones -The Eagles/The Bee Gees -Nirvana/Pink Floyd -Michael Jackson/Jimi Hendrix -Bob Dylan/John Lennon -Metallica/Led Zeppelin -East Coast/West Coast Rap....lol. Random, but I had to ask. U2 - just for sheer output. Colplay also hasn't had any genre defining songs like U2's New Years Day or I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.
Red Hot Chili Peppers easily - Pearl Jam sings the same song over and over with different lyrics. They have had a few great tunes but RHCP is much more innovative and every song is different.
The Beatles or the Rolling Stones - a few years ago I would have picked The Beatles easily. Now it's a much harder decision. For one thing they are completely different style of band. The Beatles were a Rock n Roll / Pop band similar to the ones in the 50's until 1965's Rubber Soul when they got Dylanesque and then 1967 when they went psychedelic. The Stones were always a Blues based Rock band - I will pick the Beatles by a slim margin because of the sheer variety of styles of music they explored.
The Eagles easily - I love the early Bee Gees stuff but it was light weight Pop compared to the Eagles output - Hotel California alone would win this one by itself.
Pink Floyd by a huge margin - I was never a Nirvana fan, I liked a few songs but their depressing lyrics (if you could understand them) and in your face instrumentation was just to repetitive for me. Pink Floyd was much more innovative, especially the Syd Barrett years.
Michael vs Jimi - This is a joke right. Jackson was a better showman but Hendrix blows him and most anyone else out of the water as a musician. Jimi was God - Michael was only a King
Dylan vs Lennon - Dylan fairly easily but I loved Lennon's work as well. Dylan has written so many great great classic songs that no one compares to him. John was a member of one of the world's greatest bands but his solo work was only so so. Imagine was great but the rest wasn't all that note worthy.
Metallica vs Led Zeppelin - My first and third favorite bands. I have to go with Led Zeppelin because they are my favorite band. Zeppelin also explored many more styles of music than Metallica.

Can someone outline the events that led to Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. arrest? The actual details (i.e. police report) surrounding the events that led up to his arrest and the details of the arrest itself are proving quite difficult to find on the web now. Most of the east coast papers that had the report or a link to the same have been removed. With what details that have emerged, can someone briefly outline what happened. As well, I would like to understand how this event is or has become labeled as racially motivated given the actual events. (1) Neighbor calls 911 reporting black males "shouldering" their way into the home.(2) Police arrive - (Check scene photo's, (3) Police find black males have already "forced" their way inside the home without keys.(4) Police confront unknown male(s). (5) Police ask for ID(6) Black male (Gates) refuses, "No, I will not show you an ID". (7) Police insist, explaining the 911 call. (8) Gates beligerantly shows ID's....Police then "proceed to leave". (9) Gates flies off the handle and berates the Police (10) Police advise they can speak to him outside; Gates advises "I'll speak with your Momma' outside"....to the Police. (11) Police walk back to their cruisers - to drive away. (Call is over). (12) Gates pursues them on foot back to their cruisers - screaming at them, drawing the attention of others and other drivers passing by stopping now to watch.(13) Police advise him to quiet down; warning he is becoming disorderly. (14) Gates continues his tirade.(15) Gates is finally arrested. If I lost it and turned beserk on the cops, I would be in jail for disturbance. Since this man happens to be a black Harvard professor, it's is big racial incident. I notice there were black cops involved too.
