Interior decorative accessories? I'm really interested in designing the accessories which is related to interior homes. Things like lamp, lantern, unique art frame, specila ornaments........ Can anyone tell me under which course was it? Interior design? Or product design? or furniture design? Besides, where to get a degree for it? ( if it is a rare course ) It's interior designing. It's not really a rare course. But I dont really knw wich place is the best to do the course.

cleaning a paper lantern? How do I clean a large, expensive, paper lantern that is used as a decorative piece and can not be taken apart? The only thing I can suggest is white bread. That is what is used to clean old manuscripts and book pages. Its worth a try.

Can I use convergent/divergent lens to converge rays of light into one powerfull ray of light? if so,how? Sry, I'm new at this, I apologise for my lack of knowlodge. I'm looking to use lens for a decorative&ecological efect of light in my home. In essence, i'd like to know if there is the tehnology to converge multiple rays of light into one ray and reflect them across open spaces, much like a lantern does, using its parabolic saped mirror, and get the oposite effect to spread that powerful ray of light in order to iluminate a whole room. If it is posible and you know how can i obtain such mirrors/lens, please let me know. I am a land surveyor, so mounting them at a precise level is not an issue! Thank you! To create a "beam", You'll have to use a parabolic reflector with a carbon arc at the focal point. This beam will be narrow and can be spread by a convex mirror at the receiving end to illuminate a room. You can use one of those cheap laser pointers to experiment with different lenses and mirrors to check your optics. I would be interested to see how all this works out. I'm also a surveyor in Fort Myers, Florida.

Would it be too tacky to drape gossamer from the ceiling and hang paper lanterns for reception decoration? I am trying to find something to make my reception a little more "decorative" and I like the idea of the gossamer because the ceiling is hideous and I like paper lanterns but I think they would draw too much attention to the ugly ceiling. Would it look too tacky if I had both? What else could I use for ceiling decoration? Why not make a false ceiling... Use wire tightly strung across room every 6-8 feet... Neatly drape the gossamer over the wires creating a tent like ceiling then hang your lanterns (you can easily string them to the wires) (cup hooks screwed into the wall about 1/2- 1 inch from the ugly ceiling can be used to string the wires....
The ugly ceiling goes away.. What people can't see doesn't exist...
For added drama you string some twinkle lights (mini christmas lights..) before putting up the gossamer. Fassten them directly to the ceiling using painters tape (it will hold and peal away leaving the ceiling paint intact) .. The lights will glow and sparkle behind the fabric like a stary night...
If the ceiling is really high you can use the false ceiling to bring down the height of the room making the space more intimate... Remember not too low though 10 feet at least...
Be sure any lights you use are in good condition no frayed wires etc. Make sure they are also cool (temperature) lights... Most new indoor fairy (christmas) lights will be perfect as they do not put off much heat when light...
You can even make small bunches of the fairy lights drape down in the locations you will hang the lanterns to light them without fire hazard.. Just string the lights when you get to a lantern spot drape 5-10 lights down and go on stringing.. When you put up the lanterns stuff the lights inside making sure to center them so the lanterns glow instead of putting off points of light on the paper.. (Plastic twist ties, not metal , can help you get the right look)

Where to buy indoor decorative paper lanterns? I have them in my room, and my friend wants them for hers. They're pink & orange striped paper lanterns that hang on my wall. I'm pretty sure I got them at JCPenney or HomeGoods, but we didn't see them on the website. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks. diwali lantern making step by step guide? my daughter needs to make a decorative lantern at a school competition. Please give me a step by step process for this
Step 1. Start to make a beautiful paper lantern for Diwali by
laying out three sheets of A4 paper end to end to form one long sheet. Once you have the papers in place, tape or glue them together. Then fold the entire sheet in half lengthwise.
Step 2. Color the paper using colored markers or paint. Keep in mind that the color should appear at the top of the paper, near the fold. Decorate the paper in a solid color, or design a pattern using multiple colors, if you wish. Allow the paper to dry completely before proceeding.
Step 3.Fold the colored paper as though you were making a paper fan--accordion style. Tuck the first fold over at 1-inch and then make the second fold the opposite way, making sure to crease each fold well. This will create two sides of folded paper for your Diwali lantern.
Step 4. Pull the papers apart carefully to separate them. Don't unfold the entire lantern, just start at one end and slowly separate the two layers.
Step 5. Refold each side of paper separately by following the same creased folds. The result should look like two separate folded paper fans forming a V shape, but connected at the bottom. Press down on each one to make sure they both retain their folded shape.
Step 6. Thread a sewing needle twice to make a sturdy double thread. Starting at one end, push the needle through the edge of each fold while leaving half an inch of thread on each side. Then do the same on the opposite end. Finally, tie off the threads on each end, still leaving the extra thread on each side
Step 7. Reveal the paper lantern by gently pulling out the folded edges of paper, which will result in the entire thing unfolding in a circle. Note that if there is a large gap in the center, you can remedy this by tightening up the threads a bit.
Step 8. Enjoy your Diwali paper lantern by displaying it with a colored light or small flashlight inside. You might also want to make several paper lanterns and string them together for a festive look.

String lights burning out one by one, two a day? Why? The reason why there are only ten light bulbs in ten feet of strand is that the light bulbs each have clip on decorative paper lanterns on them. It doesn't really affect the light at all, and is merely a clip on to the hard plastic part. I have a string of lights that is about 9 or 10 feet long and has 10 small white christmas bulbs on it. Another second light strand is attached at the end of this one. The strand of lights in question is plugged into a 6 or 7 piece extension strip that serves as a power surge protector. The other things plugged into the surge protector are an aquarium air pump, a 55 gallon aquarium heater, and two aquarium lights. The bulbs were all on when I first plugged it in, but I noticed the second day that two of the lights had burned out. The third day, there were only a few left lit. The fourth day, they were all burned out. Why did this happen? Will it happen again if I replace the light bulbs? Was it the outlet? The surge protector? The age of the second hand strand, which was purchased at a garage sale two years ago (but has been working fine since then). ? I'm not sure why Yahoo! is showing the question as an Additional Detail. Maybe that's just a glitch on my computer screen. Neither the outlet nor the surge protector have anything to do with this.
Is it a series or parallel string?
I suspect it is a series string with each socket having a device that shorts across the socket when the bulb blows out. This puts more strain on the remaining bulbs and causes them to pop sooner.
Series string christmas lights come in various voltages, depending on how many bulbs are in the string. A 20 bulb string will have bulbs rated at 120/20 or about 6 volts each. A 10 bulb string will have bulbs rated at 120/10 or about 12 volts each.
If you used the wrong size/type bulbs, they will not last very long. I'd get the right size bulbs and replace them all.

Can you eat store bought pumpkins? My family wants to make a pie out of the pumpkins they bought for to make jack o lanterns from the store. Is it safe to do this, I thought I heard that store bought decorative pumkins have chemicals on them that are harmful to humans, so I thought I would double check and see if any one knew. There are no chemicals in pumpkins that are used for Jack O' Lanterns. The pumpkins may not be as sweet as sugar pumpkins but can be used just the same as long as they have not bee carved out and used as Jack O' Lanterns.
