Do halogen bicycle headlamps degrade over time? I have a good bike light from 10 years ago (Nite Rider cyclops). It's been dormant on a shelf for years. I just bought a new battery and used the light, and it seems much less bright than it used to be, and yellowish rather than pure white. Before I decide the new battery is the problem, can someone tell me if the light may have degraded during all those years of inactivity? Thanks. Halogens are quite yellow compared to the more modern lights of today(LED, ARC's) so while they may have seemed very bright ten years ago they have just aged a bit but are not any less efficient. You could upgrade the bulb if you want to although it would eat in to your running time.

English Electric EMU The video shows an English Electric EMU and two trailer cars travelling towards Wellington alongside State Highway 1 in Paraparaumu, having left Paraparaumu Railway Station a couple of minutes earlier. This electric unit entered service in March 1954. It was restored to its original colour scheme in 2005 and is now affectionately known as Cyclops due to it still retaining its original large single lens headlamps. The video was taken from the top deck of a Wellington based AEC Routemaster (RM 1670) now known as The English Rose . The AEC was carrying fare paying passengers from Paraparaumu Station to the Wellington Tramway Museum.
