He has to apply for his Green Card to be able to get his Social Security Number (so he can work) and to be able to get a drivers licence.
He needs to complete a Form I-181, Creation of Record. The I-181 begins the process in which a Canadian-born American Indian is afforded PR standing and issued an I-551, Permanent Resident card (also called a 'green card').
He doesn't need a passport, and he doesn't need to apply for citizenship. (In fact he should not because it may cause taxation problems if he returns to Canada.)
You can get married at anytime. (of course he must be 50% American Indian "by blood").

What counts as native americans? My grandmother is native peruvian(quechua incan) and the aztecs or the cree of canada. Do those count as native americans. Wen I tell ppl I have native blood they ask me what kind and I say incan then they say oh that's not native american. Is native american only those who are native to the unitied states? i don't know why there is so much confusion with the term native american. legally the term is american indian and refers only to the tribes in what is now usa. canada's tribes are called first nations.
think of it this way. are peruvians americans? are brazilians americans? if a person from chile were to come to usa are they americans? of course not since american refers to people who hold citizenship in usa. canada is part of north america but they aren't americans right?
so how can someone who is not an american be a native american? common sense. people need to stop twisting the meaning of terms. as you stated, your grandmother is native peruvian,not native american.

White people pretending to be native american? First of all, I am native american (Cree) . The videos of these people dancing around and doing things I've never seen done before at any of our ceremonies, is just disappointing. Obviously these people are white, their costumes are rediculous, and they make up names that dont mean anything in any of our languages. These people are an embarrassment to both whites and native americans. Should I be flattered or disgusted?. its disgusting and laughable which is what we do to them. did you know that when real natives confront the wannabe tribe, the whites always try to teach us our culture? serious. i had a guy who is from scotland tell me that "if you knew your culture better, you would know...." then tried to teach ME a traditional mohawk my whole life, what my people believe and do.

I am getting married in the Cree native American way, can any one help with finding information on this? I would go to the reservation and talk to some of the elders. A lot of the ceremonies and traditions are preserved orally, so unless there is a Cree online, it will be near impossible to find them.
