How many days after a turn-off notice does it usually take for Con Ed to turn off power? Tomorrow is the first day they can turn off my power, but I made a payment that is supposed to go through in the morning. Will they turn off my power in the morning? I was not sure exactly what you were asking, so I will just give you all of my experiences with Com Ed. As a result of a bad car accident a few years back, I have fallen behind on my bills more than one time :-(
When you say "tomorrow is the first day they can turn off my power" what did you mean by that? Did you already receive a pink notice in the mail? Usually after you get that notice, they will turn off 10 days from that.
I can tell you that Com Ed is really good about making payment arrangement to avoid disconnection.If you did not make your payment at an authorized payment location, or over the phone (if you just mailed it) you must must must call them right away to tell them. If you paid off the entire balance, then your OK, if not, like I said they are very good about making arrangements with you.

How do I switch from Ambit Energy(or any ESCO) back to Con ED and/or National Grid?

I signed a contract with a landlord to rent an apartment but con ed says I owe back bills for previous tenant? I signed a contract and provided a deposit. When I called con ed to turn on my electric, they said previous tenant owes $600 and they refuse to turn it on without payment. My landlord refuses to pay it also and says if I don't move in, he will keep my deposit. What to do? either customer service or the OMBUDSMAN at the utility should

How does a power company (like Con Ed in the NY area) interact with power suppliers (power plants)? Does the Con Ed own all power plants that it gets its power from? Or does it buy power from other companies that own power plants? If the latter, could I, hypothetically, start a company, build a power plant, and then sell power to Con Ed? Con Ed attempts to buy power at the cheapest rates to maximize its profits. That is what a regulated utility does. At any time, it may buy from its own power plants or from generating facilities owned by others. And yes, in theory, you can build your own power generating facilities - wind mills, dams, nuclear plants, tide-generating facilities, etc. - and sell to Con Ed. They will buy. However, NIMBY (not in my backyard) keeps your cost very high.

My friends and I are off to college soon and though it may not seem the brightest idea to get an apartment during these economic times we want to not only test our independence but also get away from our families. The website gives no help and our mothers won't talk about it because they don't want us to move. So we know that it is different each month but we want to know an average. depends on how much electricity you use.

Anyone using Energy Plus as their electrical supplier instead of Con Ed? Since I don't know anything about the company and the only utility company in New York, I've ever been with is Con Ed. I would like to switch if rates are lower and they are reliable. Then again, you can't get worse than Con Ed.. No! Sorry. Maybe the NYECC can enlighten you.
