What is a good product for lighting the inside of a camping tent? I've tried using battery-powered lanterns but they don't give off very even light. Other than that I've only seen one tent light from Coleman that doesn't seem much better. Thanks for any good tips. I like the coleman magnetic tent lights. Stick them where you want them. But if that's the one you already don't like then never mind. But the battery powered box fan is great.

I have a Coleman 5339 series flashlight/lantern, was wondering where batteries were located? This is a green metallic flashlight with rubber handle, not AAA or even AA version, this one has a feature if you extend the base, the bulb that powers the flashlight head becomes visible in the plastic tubing that extends the flashlight and this becomes the lantern feature. It is a pretty cool flashlight. The diameter of the head is 3 inches, it stands about 7 inches in flashlight mode and 8 1/2 in lantern mode. If anybody can tell me how to get to the batteries so I can change them, be much appreciative, as this is a quality flashlight and I don't have the manual or anything. In the end, opposite the lantern end, If it's the model I'm thinking of, It holds 8 "D" cell batteries, and is a little tricky to open.

I need a user manual for a Coleman Powermate PMJ8962? I have a Coleman Powermate jumpstart battery/powersource/lantern, Model #PMJ8962 for which I have misplaced the owner's manual. We have a Coleman Lantern and want to replace its battery but cannot get the old one out.? It is a large battery and looks as though you can just pull it out but we yanked and yanked and it is in there solid. We called Coleman and they said it is in there with foam and some kind of glue but it should be able to be pulled out. We don't want to break the thing by yanking too hard. Anyone ever take a battery out of a lantern and if so, how did you get it out if it was stuck. Thanks. Yeah that first time is a pain. You just have to be patient and work it out slowly.
You can use your blow drier to loosen up the hot glue a little. Just don't get the battery too hot. If you do it will explode.

higher watt bulb in a battery Coleman lantern ? Coleman 8D Square Pack-Away Lantern- I bought one and rated at 390 lumens it does seem to put out pretty decent light. I have a 230 lumen flashlight from cree and this seems like it might meet the 390 test but... it runs a 15 watt spiral florescent bulb. What I am wondering is if anyone has tried or what they think about putting a higher wattage bulb in it such as maybe a 20 or 25 watt bulb? Would this just cut down the hours on run time ? Does the bulb run directly off of 12V?
If so, probably the only side effect will be a decrease in battery life.
If the bulb does not run on 12V, you will probably damage the circuitry if run for a long period of time.

Does my Coleman twin tube lantern just have burned-out bulbs? I have a Coleman twin-tube rechargeable lantern that was given to me years ago as a gift. It's gotten sporadic use on the occasional camping trip or power outage, and I've always been pleased with the results. It didn't light, and I assumed that the battery was drained so I charged it overnight and tried again this morning. Still nothing. I opened it up to make sure that the bulbs were in properly, and they are. The "charging" indicator light does light up when I plug the lantern in. Is it possible that the bulbs are just burned out? There were no problems with it last time we used it. A new lantern is maybe $40; new bulbs would be maybe $8. So not a huge amount of money either way, but I don't want to spend the time and money buying replacement bulbs if the lantern is somehow shot. Maybe something is wrong with the battery or the connections? Has anyone else had a similar problem? The charging system may not be working. Leave it plugged in for a day and see if it works. If not, I'd look at getting another one.

Whats a good camping lantern? Gas or Others? Im looking for a lantern for camping, there are so many around Ebay, camping stores ect.. Has anyone got one cheap and found it to be fantastic? Im thinking of a gas lantern like gasmate or coleman but i also want a battery powered one.. cheers Australian purchase I use coleman fuel lanterns for several reasons:
-They are bright, it's enough light for whatever you want to do.
-They will burn all night if you need 'em to. Like if you go out fishing, leave a lantern on the bank where you beach the boat -- so you can find your way back in the dark. Never worried about a battery running down.
-They're just plain cool.
The battery powered lanterns are for inside the tent.

I just bought a Mini Pack-Away® Lantern by Coleman.? While inserting the batteries it collapsed and now will not OPEN. I have tugged and pulled even looked for a latch to RELEASE it. NOTHING will not OPEN! Any suggestions? There should be a phone number or website on the package that would enable you to contact Coleman and ask them about it.

I'm living (temp) in La Quinta,CA I have all the camping gear and nowhere to put it, single female w/ sm.dog? I'm 52 yr. old female, been out of work for 2 years. I'm waiting for unemployment (tier 5) to kick back in (????) I have a little Terrier mix that I've had for nearly 5 years (giving him up is not an option). He's been the only in my life that is solid since I lost my job. He's my best friend and I am his. We would suffer greatly if separated, this I know is a fact. We have nowhere to go and to be safe. We have a 13'x10' tent, coleman stove, lantern and ceiling fan(both battery operated), blowup mattress and pump, I also have (2) propane canisters. I receive food stamps on the 7th of each month. That's why they have shelters so that folks as your self can get the help they need and job training to improve their situations. The SPCA can take good care of fluffy and find it a home where someone else is better able to provide.
