What hand held circular saw is the safest (what safety features are available)? What hand held circular saw is the safest (what safety features are available)? Most circular saws have safety features on them... like a full blade guard until it moves when you push it against the wood, I'll look one up for you.

Circular saw blade location? I'm looking to get a circular saw, and have realized that almost all of them have the blade to the right of the motor. I'm right handed and would think that the blade on the left of the motor would make more sense because you could see it better? I have found a Milwaukee that has the blade on the left, but it's the only one I could find like that. Am I missing an important safety point or something. Just looking for some thoughts on this. Thanks The blade is located "outside" because if the saw were to bind and then kick back, it would most likely go away from your body.
If it was mounted "inside", and it kicked back, it'd kick straight back into your body...not fun.

I have a fairly new dewalt368 lightweight circular saw and i don't know what i'm doing wrong here? but it only works sometimes. Could i be engaging some kind of safety lock on the trigger or do i have a bad product. Thanks for any assistance These saws usually come with safety features, and you could be hitting that button. I would suggest, if you still have your manual, read it over well, and check out the safety features, and how to use the saw.
If you know any friend, or coworker, who is familiar with this saw, maybe they can help you out.
It's hard to say, what's wrong, the saw or the way you are using it, without actually seeing you using the saw.
If you don't have the manual, visit the DeWalt website, and see if you can get any information from them, on your unit.

circular saw does not seem safe? i just bought a circular saw from wickes diy the problem i have is a safety issue . the safety switch is on the soft grip handle as is the on off trigger now i had done all the safety checks on the saw all seem ok so i am ready to start cutting a piece of ply i plug the saw in and pick it up off the table but before i have a chance to grip the auxiliary handle the saw switches on as i have picked it up. i quickly turn it off by releasing the switches i am just wondering is this how they are made as i have looked at others and alot of them seem to have the safety switch about an inch to the side and an inch higher to the on / off trigger also there is only the soft grip handle to pick it up by and as you need a firm grip there is no other way of picking the saw up i have tried to explain as much as i can so is it safe to use thanks David, I`ve been using circular saws for over 25 years now and I think I can say that if the circular saw or any 'electric' power tool comes on without squeezing the trigger, it is "NOT SAFE" nor should you or anyone use it at all. Take it back and try to find one that is comfortable to your grip and is within your budget. If you think of it(a power tool) as a real loaded gun then you can buy 1 that doesn`t have a safety switch because you NEVER put your finger on the trigger until your ready to cut. Circular saw blade for use with CNC router? I own a CNC router and I have been cutting some MDF into strips. I'm currently using a slitting saw blade which is OK but ideally I would want to use a standard circular saw blade because it will cut through the MDF easier. The trouble is all these circular saw blades are normally advertised for use with either a table saw or a hand-held circular saw. Are these saw blades OK to use with a CNC router? Basically, what I have done is to bolt the spindle on my CNC router sideways and attached the saw blade using an arbor. Using a slitting saw works fine but I really want to use a circular saw blade instead. I can't see any reason why there should be a problem but for safety reasons I just thought i'd better check. A router spins at 9000 RPM. A power saw 1750 RPM. The blade will fly apart and kill you if it lands just so. SAFETY FIRST idiot.

circular saw cut off fingers (better safety switch)? Hi all i need some info on circular saws my husband bought a new circular saw about a month ago from wickes diy model number wcs185l. Now he has them used many before with no problem but he said he did not know if this model was safe as the safety button was right next to the on/off switch so everytime you would pick it up it would basiclly turn on . A s he picked it up the other day with his right hand by the handle it went off an cut through is other hand . now i have looked at it myself and tryed picking it up and as it is pretty heavy you need a firm grip and the only way of picking it up is by the handle in question with the on/off switch an the safety switch . i have looked at several pics on the net an all other saws seem to have the safety switch away from the main handle so you could not turn it on as you lift it up . many thanks for reading an hope to here your opinion . hey maverick thanks for replying he actually got the fingers trapped in the edge of the guard very hard to do but these things happen i suppose thanks tom i have looked at other brands of drill an they are all better safety features yeah that sounds like a pretty garbagy design Ive been using power tools my whole life big ones small,pink ones, broken ones. I ve never been cut. I would assume that the button in that position would make it easy to get a cut

why do tradespeople not wear safety gear? When they come over to my house and use jackhammers, circular saws, drills, angle grinders, they never seem to wear any safety glasses, ear muffs, dust masks, or anything like that. Just wondering if this was common and why this was?? They should because the company owner is liable for their safety and often their insurance is based on proper safety practices. Sometimes they are lax about it because they are too comfortable with their work or sometimes think it could never happen to them. If it bothers you, you have every right to speak to the manager on sight and insist his men take the proper precautions. Also, be aware that if this company, for whatever reason, is NOT insured then YOU are liable for any accidents they may have on your property. It's always best to ask if they are insured and see proof.

can you still use the circular saw with out the safety trigger ? if so how mine wont work and i dont want to try anything til i know how. there is nothing else wrong with it so i want to use it b/c the handsaw takes to long and im trying to build a fence. Sure you can bypass the safety. But be very careful of your fingers and toes! Meat sounds much different than cutting wood!

how do i get the circular saw to work without the safety trigger? just the safety trigger is missing so i dont have anything to press to make the saw go, the actual trigger is there it's just the safety one on top is missing Explain a little deeper as to what you need to do. Or what is not working on the saw.
Is it the trigger that is not working? If so this is a replaceable item.

What is the Brand and model of the saw so I can locate the parts for you. These are not hard to replace and I rather take my time to search the Internet for you than let you hurt yourself.

Baby choking safety device? I saw this device a few months ago, but I can't remember where, and I would like to purchase one. It is a small plastic circular shaped object, that is supposed to be similar to the size of a baby's throat. You would fit an object into it to see if a baby could choke on it. I would like to keep it around the house to show the older kids how easy it would be for the baby to pick up a small object and choke, and hopefully remind them to keep everything off of the floor and counters where the baby can reach. Does anyone know where to get these? I have checked babies r us and I can't find them there. Don't waste your money on it, please! It is the same size as a paper towel holder, or toilet paper holder (the cardboard insert). Just use that as your gage for older children.
If anything can fit through the cardboard, your baby could choke on it. If it doesn't fit, your baby should be okay with whatever it is.
