Are Dewalt bolts sae or metric? I have a DW369 circular saw. There is a bolt that tightens down the edge guide. Anyone know the bolt size/thread pattern? My Dewalt saw uses 1/4 - 28 NF thumb screw. I am not sure of the model number.
I can do telepathy? is this a good thing? well basically I've been interested in paranormal spiritualist stuff all my life and it's a HUGE part of my dads side of the family (in the past). So I decided, why not have a go? well I started by reading a book about it and it basically gave a step by step guide as to the thing I tried. The thing I tried was to hold an object in my hand and send it to a receiver through telepathy (simplest explanation). My dad said he'd be the receiver and so I took an object and tried it. Well the creepy thing is it actually worked (though it was mild, plus my dad was downstairs and I was upstairs away from sight) because I picked up this book of ours that is striped all different colours, mainly turquoise and maroon. And basically after about a minute I went downstairs and asked him (my dad) what he got and he said that he had gotten the colours turquoise and maroon, and two parallel lines (the book was rectangular). So then I thoought it must be a co-incidence, so I tried it with four more objects and he got the basis of them all (eg I had a silver ring and my dad saw a circular shape with a lump on the circumference (the ring had a gem too) and I also did it with a toothbrush and he got a mild image, etc:P) so, my question is do you think I have some kind of telepathy? and I'm quite worried as to whether this is good or bad.......? also just as a test again, I took this test: http://www.psychic.com.au/psychic-test-game.htm and like each time the question came up the shape I wanted flashed and I scored 12/16? http://www.psychic.com.au/psychic-card-game.htm I also did this one and it did the right card everytime? @glitz: haha! I'll try sending him a message wherever he is:P -to glitz's bf: "stop what your doing and buy a macdonalds!" Video or you can't do it.
how do you cut pieces of wood out accurately? Hi, I'm trying to cut 1 inch strips off of the side of a large flat 3/4 inch thick board. The strips are 2 ft long. I really need the edges of the strips to be straight and to maintain the 1 inch width accurately. This is probably a stupid question, but what is a good way to do this? Clamping a guide board and using a jigsaw has -not- worked well for me... Is a circular saw a better idea? how about a table saw? thanks
A table-saw with a guide would be the best. A Circular saw and a steady hand CAN do the job.
ALWAYS remember to measure THRICE and cut once.
GOOD LUCK
What do you think this series of dreams means? (I know this is long. You don't need to read all of it unless you want to.) In the first dream, I was in a large room that looked like a commercial/restaurant kitchen in front, and a factory in the back. I was standing on a bare wood platform above the red tile floor when a small machine about the shape of a roomba but with circular saw came after me. It appeared to be intelligent as it attempted to climb up the platform to where I was. Knowing that it was about to chop me into little pieces, I ran down the steps off to the side and ran as quickly as I could to the other side of the room where the factory part was. There was a large formation of machines blocking the way about five feet tall, so I climbed over the top where I saw two large buttons--one black and one red. During this dream, I was escaping some force that was trying to control me, and I saw the large red button as an opportunity to cause havoc to the system, so I pushed it, causing an alarm to sound. Still aware of the small machine that was chasing me, I climbed over the other side of the machine formation and found a corner hallway where there were offices. I couldn't find a way out and I heard the little machine still coming after me, so I darted into a breakroom with a window and went out the window. After I crawled outside, I was in a backyard of a residential home, so I went through the back door to get to the nearest road. I met an old woman who guided me to the front door, where I became aware that I was dreaming. As I usually do when I lucid dream, I try to collect as much information as possible because I believe dreams are a connection to another world/reality. She told me her name was Tammy Wynn(which I assume is related to Tammy Wynnette the country singer), the state I was in was Texas(I lived there as a kid in real life but not any more) and that the address was 2741, but she wouldn't give me the city name or the street name because she didn't want me to track her down in reality. After that I woke up in intense abdominal pain(I have IBS), felt my pulse which was beating at over 3 times a second(over 180 bpm) then I went back to sleep. My second dream was similar to the first in that I was on the run from some force that was trying to control me. I started out alone in a large waiting room where I could hear the forces surrounding me(they sounded like police or a SWAT team and I saw flashlights peering through the blinds). Before they could fully surround me and get into the building, I crawled out a window near a corner and ran across to another building where I found another door to the nearest road and went out. Once I was on the road, I had the distinct feeling that I'd escaped some barrier and the forces couldn't follow me through that door, so I was safe. Looking out across the road, I saw a row of stores similar to what I would see where I live now(a typical commercial street), and beyond them, I could see the ocean and some ships(there's no ocean where I live). There appeared to be a party down the road to the right of me at this large house which bordered the ocean, so I went down to join the party and I woke up. Third dream(this one will really freak you out): The forces had captured me and forced me into a bathroom, telling me to strip down in front of them for a shower. They escorted me naked through a network of hallways with tiled floors and walls where another group of only women were being escorted naked in the other direction. As I passed them, they looked at me as if they were attracted to me and I was attracted to them, so as I passed the last one, I slapped her on the butt and she started cat calling me. After that I woke up. I know it was a sexual dream, but I'm wondering if there was more to it. There were other details but I've forgotten them. Some things that might help with interpretation: I used to work in a large kitchen and have one several occasions had dreams(mostly bad) about being in a large kitchen. I was aware of the abdominal pain when I was in the first dream, but didn't pay attention to it. I've had a few sexual dreams in the past about being in a public bathroom, some of which included gay encounters although I'm straight. I really do believe that there are "forces" trying to control me(but when I'm awake I don't make assumptions about what they are or why they're after me). I've never listened to Tammy Wynnette, but one of my favorite episodes from my favorite show(Married with Children) featured Tammy Wynnette. In the dreams, I don't see the forces, I just think they are after me, except in the third dream where there are actually people escorting me. I don't remember what they were wearing but I think they had uniforms of some kind. I don't even to talk to my family anymore because they verbally abused me and threatened me. I'm sure I'm straight. I've never had a gay experience or fantasy while being awake, and there were three gay dream experiences, but they weren't pleasurable. One involved me having sex with a guy out of sympathy, one I don't even remember what really happened, and the other was a man that attempted to rape me. It's strange because I've never been sexually assaulted or molested, but I spend a lot of time dealing with gay issues in politics and I have a brother who is gay but still in the closet. He was the only one I got along with in my family. In a dream ; a kitchen talk about family . and the kitchen is keep coming back in your dreams . So what going on with your family ? There a stress factor somewhere ;; Are you absolutely sure of your sexual orientation ? About forces trying to control you ? I do not see in any of your dreams a force of any kind trying to control you or your destiny

Cutting straight boards with a circular saw? I am trying to make make a chessboard, but do not have a table saw or jointer to make everything square before gluing it. How accurate would it be to clamp a framing square to a piece of wood and rip it with a circular saw using the square as a guide. Then use the rip guide that comes with the saw against the edge I just cut to get my pieces completely square. Then cut the edges on a chop saw. Will this result in a cut square enough for a good glue joint?
Just use a straight edge to place the saw against.
It will work fine. I do it that way all the time.
Does a laser guide on a circular saw really make any difference? Not if the line is covered with sawdust. But they can be useful.
On a job site, which circular saw will be more efficient? One with a laser guide, or a little more power? I was given 2 circular saws, a skill brand 13amp saw with a laser guide and a makita 15amp saw. I have a fair amount of experience using a circular saw, but have never purchased one for myself. I can see at a glance how helpful the laser guide will be on my job site, but before i return the makita, i want to hear from someone if i'm really going regret giving up those 2 amps for the sake of a better guide system? To me- 2 amps doesnt seem like a big difference, but i'd like to hear from someone with a few more years in the trade than i have. Oh- and everything else about the saws are identical- weight, blade size, depth of bite, cord length, etc. No pro would be caught dead using a saw with a laser guide, or for that matter a Skil (other than worm drives). The extra 2 amps makes a huge difference, especially when ripping a board. Makita saws are much more durable than Skil saws. On a jobsite, the laser will actually interfere with your ability to see your cutting line when cutting boards. Go with the Makita. Hope this helps.
Which masonry saw diamond blade should I buy? I need to cut some Pennsylvania bluestone and I was planning on using my standard electric circular saw. I see there are blades made for this purpose but there seems to be several different kinds out there and I can't find a guide as to which one I should get. There is continuous and segmented diamond blades. Can anybody tell me the advantages and disadvantages of each or which is best suited for my application? Any help would be appreciated. Continuous would be with water . Segmented would be dry cut . Water would not be good for that saw . Get dry cut and use a little bit of water for best cut . Some even have groves on the side . not much different . They are so posed to pull more powder out . The trick is not to over heat the blade .
Give a name to these concept robots!? I ask for as many examples of names as you can provide (for the price of 10 points) that you can come up with after reading what's below.
I am an amateur engineer, and i make weapons and robots that range from surveillance remote control cars, to rumba-style robots that can operate by themselves and not go off tables of crash into things, to crossbows, to flamethrowers. The names i give the robots consist of two words, and a conjunction of some sort.
Some examples are:
All Under Heaven
Dawn Under Heaven
Forward Unto Dawn
In Phantom Opalescence
Rendezvous on Battlegaze
Spirit of Fire
So, guided by these examples, i need you guys to just give me names that i can use in the future- or name of the three projects i currently have, being : an arm mounted flamethrower, an automatic crossbow, and a circular-saw wielding robot on wheels that's about a foot high. Thank you in advance for your creativity

Wuwater Tigerboxing: Dancing With Wood I always wondered why Wing Chun Practitioners held the Wooden Dummy (Moog Jung) in such high regard. I also wondered how they possessed so much proprioceptive strength, reflexes and aggressive resolve from a fixed object with three protrusions that mimic a front leg and two arms set in a quasi play the Pipa posture. It is almost magical to see the transference of kinetic wisdom demonstrated by a serious Wing Chun Student when they apply their shadowboxing and Moog Jung forms to Chi Sao sparring and free sparring. It is like they had always been able to fight. The small circle and frame movements and posture is simple: Never lose structure, maintain the centerline, align the three fronts and four corners, follow, link, adhere, stick, never release or resist. Some Wing Chun adepts rarely spar but are extremely effective functionally in combat and they only practice shadowboxing and Moog Jung Form. I suspected it had something to do with the Dummy. Then I saw Donny Yen perform on the Moog Jung and realized that it was alchemical. He glided into, over around, up and down that dummy. His movements were semi circular and his feet and hands arrived at the same time and rarely stayed still as his stances changes and flowed as fast as his blocking/trapping/striking/slipping movements. After seeing another adept, Sifu Grados, perform the same way in Chi Sao then I knew that it was a unseen quality that was taking place. The Wooden Dummy is not for developing force or building
