Dia de los Muertos is a holiday in Mexico, which takes place on November 1st-2nd. This is exactly when the Celts would practice their own version! It does not glorify death, rather it is a time to remember those who have passed on. The idea of a pagan Celtic "Day of the Dead" was invented in the 19th century by incompetent Victorian folklorists. There is no historical evidence of any such thing before Christians, Catholics in particular, came up with All Saints Day (Nov 1) and All Souls Day (Nov 2)..
The Days of the Dead (All Saints and All Souls) are celebrated all over the world - not just Mexico but most of Latin America, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Sweden, the Philippines and so on. They are primarily a Christian celebration and so definitely a good thing!

Can I write children's books? I steped on a slimy slug in the dark last night. Yuck! I steped on that slug in the dark, "yucky, yuck". There was no light for the steps in this rented house. I could not see it laying there. I can not put a light out here, it does not belong to me, this rented houseI see. Noticing them before I did, Billy whispered, "It's no use Grandpa. Now the mosquitoes are coming after us with flashlights." 9. When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied, "I'm not sure." "Look in your underwear, Grandpa," he advised, "mine says I'm 4 to 6." 10. A second grader came home from school and said to her grandmother, "Grandma, guess what? We learned how to make babies today." The grandmother, more than a little surprised, tried to keep her cool. "That's interesting," she said, "How do you make babies?" "It's simple," replied the girl. "You just change 'y' to 'i' and add 'es'." 11. Children's Logic: "Give me a sentence about a public servant," said a teacher. The small boy wrote: "The fireman came down the ladder pregnant." The teacher took the lad aside to correct him. "Don't you know what pregnant means?" she asked. "Sure," said the young boy confidently. "It means carrying a child." 12. A grandfather was delivering his grandchildren to their home one day when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing the dog's duties. "They use him to keep crowds back," said one child. "No," said another. "He's just for good luck." A third child brought the argument to a close. "They use the dogs," she said firmly, "to find the fire hydrants." 13. A 6-year-old was asked where his grandma lived. "Oh," he said, "she lives at the airport, and when we want her, we just go get her. Then, when we're done having her visit, we take her back to the airport." 14. Grandpa is the smartest man on earth! He teaches me good things, but I don't get to see him enough to get as smart as him! 15. My daughter's school district wants to make "LockDown Bags" so that if the school goes on Lock Down they will have things in the bags in case of emergancies.....bandaids, flashlights, batteries, tarps, etc.... What toy company made this child's flashlight? My mother has a child's flashlight at her house that used to belong to my nephew 20+ years ago. You turn the light on and then you can change the lens so it changes the color of the light to green or red. My sons love this flashlight and I was wondering if they are still selling it. It is shaped like a floodlight type flashlight with a handle and I think it turns itself off after being on for so long It is yellow if that helps. I'm pretty sure that many different companies made these, because I've seen so many different versions of them. They are based on an adult version that is used by the military to help them see in different environments.

Does anyone know the title of this children's book? its about this little girl named Elizabeth who reads alot. she reads in bed, under the covers with a flashlight.. anywhere she can, she will read. and she has a little stuffed bear thats always with her. she reads so much that when she gets older, books are piled up everywhere in her house, all the way to the ceiling. in the end she puts all those books to good use and has her own library Sounds very like "the Library" by Sarah Stewart

Where can I find a stargazer flashlight? I'm looking for a flashlight in which you can swap the head and when turned on in a dark room shows a map of the stars on the wall. I'm not sure what it is called exactly. It was my girlfriend's favorite toy as a child and I'm trying to find one for her. I searched the web but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bicycle rear lamp is as good as anything. Or just cover a flashlight with red plastic from a drinks bottle or whatever.
