My car heating thermometer arrow is on hot and wont go down or move from there at all what is wrong with that? The engine light went on 6 months after that happen what could be wrong with the heat thermometer my car is a ford escort 2000 been having it for 7 years now. Won;t go down even if the car has been shut off overnight???
That is either a bad temperature sensor or a bad gage (the part that you look at).
Since the Service Engine light ALSO went on, I'd suspect a bad sensor.
Will need a mechanic to find and fix, though.

how much does it cost to get a thermometer installed in my car? i don't want any of those cheap walmart brand car thermometers i want the real kind like some cars come with, how much would this cost? Thermometer or thermostat ?

Car thermometer stuck on cold? I just had my fuel injector replaced a few weeks ago in my 2005 Nissan Sentra. Now, the thermometer is always stuck on cold unless I turn on my heater. How do you install a car thermometer SENSOR to the front bumper? 97 Camry and I'm trying to figure out how to wire the sensor to the front bumper for almost accurate readings. Do I drill a firewall or is there an easy way to this? Are you fucking retarded you troll? Go to home depot and get on of those big a$$ out door thermostats and hang it with a chain from the hood. Then change the horn to say FLAVA FLAV!! reapetedly.

Car thermometer gage went up half way on short journey? Was only driving a short distance when I checked my car thermostat and it was rising quite quickly. It got to half way, then started to drop right back down. I thought this was strange as the heating in the car was not even warm yet. With this very cold weather, does anybody have any idea what it could be? I have checked my engine coolant reservoir, and it is up to the MAX line. Maybe the coolant thermostat is a bit sticky. That would explain the sudden drop as the tstat pinged open. They should open and close gradually but old age takes it's toll. Keep an eye on it. So long as the gauge doesn't approach maximum it will be fine. In any event tstat replacement is simple and should be a half hour job.

Car thermometer faulty - why (outside air temperature display)? This happens to be on a recent Renault Clio but could be the same problem on other vehicles - the display of outside temperature reads minus 37 in the summer. Is there a known problem with these, and a simple (cheap!) answer? its probably a defective sensor or thermister that reads the external temp. outside of the car.....not hard to replace, just plugs in, could do it yourself, go to the dealer, ask for the sensor that controls it and they can tell you where it is located on the car...

where is the best place to attach an outdoor CAR thermometer for outdoor temperature? I have a "Perfect Solutions" digital indoor/outdoor car thermometer (the outdoor thermometer is wired) but I am not sure where to attach the outdoor temperature sensor, but have 10 feet of wire to work with. Am installing this in a Scion XD. Any suggestions would be very helpful! What has worked best for me overall is the front of the car, either dangling free in the grill or hanging down below the front. Attaching it directly to the car can result in the sensor getting heated by the warmth of the car itself. I once also dangled the sensor of an outside mirror and that works well for the most part, though it may not be aesthetically pleasing.

I have a Car thermometers/thermostats question? So in my car the thermostat starts off small and then it gradually (within a few seconds/minutes of driving) works it's way to the middle and stays there. This is completely normal right? Oh and does anyone know how to turn on the the back windshield wiper on a ford focus? I can't find the button in my car i'm sure it's somewhere. Yes, that's the normal operation for the cooling system. On the wiper, check the turn signal stalk for the control ring, a bit further down the stalk then the front blades.
