have i got the right idea? i'm struggling a bit to know how much detail to go into in my comparison of pieces in the part b) of my higher art paper and what points get you marks. Compare examples of still life by two artists from different movements or periods. Discuss their particular contribution to still life and comment on their choice of subject matter, styles and working methods. Two artists that I have been studying are William Harnett (1848-1892) and Pablo Picasso (1881-1973). Harnett is famed for working in the style of trompe l’oeil (fool the eye) which involves painting objects in such a way that they are mistaken for the real thing. A great example of his realistic work is “The Old Violin”, created in 1886. Picasso is best known for his style of Cubism which he created with Georges Braque in 1909. They created two forms: Analytic - involving geometric shapes and monochrome, neutral colours and Synthetic - using cut pieces of paper to create a collage. “Enamel Saucepan”, created in 1945, is one of his most well-known pieces. Harnett is known for depicting objects such as money and firearms pinned to doors, rather than the traditional setting of a tabletop. In this image the subject matter is unique: a violin, bow, sheet music, newspaper clipping and envelope pinned to an old wooden door. Picasso tends to choose simpler subject matters but their creative, often abstract, style make them more interesting. The subject matter of this painting is quite a common choice: a jug, candle and saucepan sitting on top of a table. is this the right idea for a start? it seems too vague to me but i end up writing too much. I need help picking a song.....?? At my school, we are doing this thing called Art In Motion. it is where you pick an object and create an outfit using that object. You also have to pick a song that has to do with that object for a fashion show. My friend and I are doing it together. Our choices for objects are : playing cards, pasta (spaghetti), birthday candles, popcorn, straws and paper clips. Can anyone help me think of a good song for any of these choices? It would be greatly appreicated since my friend and i do not have a very good music sense. question about arts and crafts heat guns? how much hotter than a normal hair dryer do they get? i make hair clips that involve melting the edges of tulle and organza to get the edges to curl up like flower petals but currantly im melting them over a candle which is NOT the most even source of heat distribution, and i usually end up mucking up at least two out of every ten petals i try to make. so im considering investing in a heat gun but if i can get the same effect with a hair dryer? or does anyone know a better way to get even heat distribution so i dont scorch one side of my tulle and the rest ends up flat? was just curious, as the tulle melts VERY easily so i didnt know for sure if there was some alternate technique i didnt know about Get the craft heat gun for embossing and save yourself a lot of aggravation.
A home hair dryer is not even as hot as the ones use in a hair salon, let alone as hot as a heat gun.
If you could substitute with a hair dryer, you would have seen it by now on the many DIY sites.

For all creative and imaginative people...? We do Secret Santa every year at my house. This year, I got my mom. I got her a basket and bought some stuff such as candles, candle holder, hair clip, and two coffee mugs. The problem now, is to add some homemade things to the basket! I really need any ideas that you may have. I'm good at crafts and art so difficulty is not a problem. I don't really have a huge range of materials and if it is food it has to be sugar free. I know there are a lot of rules but I appreciate any ideas at all! Please answer! Thanks! Every year I make my mom an ornament for her Christmas tree. Some of my most successful have been the ones from my poor college days. One year, I painted poinsettas on a burned out light bulb and glued a pretty ribbon to hang it from the tree. Another year, I made her an ornament out of Fimo--which is pretty inexpensive and sold at any craft store. I think the key is to decide what you want to make for her, and then evaluate your materials.
