What is the brightest 'HID' Spotlight out there? I own the "Power On Board" spotlight. It's like what they use on helicopters or as search lights. - My spotlight has a 35 watt 6000 K metal halide bulb. - My spotlight blasts 3,500 lumens of light. I wanted to know if anyone knows what is the ultra brightest HID spotlight out there that one can buy? I want to buy super brightest (blinding- bright), farthest in range (5miles away or more) that money could buy?? The Polarion PH50 ‘Helios’ HID Searchlight is (or appears to be) the brightest flashlight around - at $2,395, it better be! It puts out 5,200 lumens, runs 60 minutes, is very small and only takes 4 hours to charge! I couldn’t bring myself to spend the two grand necessary for testing, so I’ll just have to trust it’s really that bright

What is the best/brightest flashlight/spotlight on the market and where can I get it from? I need a superb light for fishing/crabbing. I have tried over 10 flashlights, halogen,led and none of them are bright enough nor does the battery life last long. Price is not a factor here. Thanks people. MagLite's are outdated and bulky. (Even the newer LED mag's aren't very good.) They have horrible runtimes and the beam is increasingly diminishing over time since they aren't using any regulating circuit. Incandecents aren't really very efficient since they lose a LOT of power through heat (as opposed to the much better way for a flashlight....light!!!).
You have NO idea how many insanely bright flashlights there are out there. Streamlight and SureFire aren't even CLOSE to the brightest. They aren't really meant to be either. Their focus is on runtime and construction. They're designed "mainly" for law enforcement/emergency/military use. They do have regular consumer models, but they're not really worth the cost.
If you want a GREAT light, with MUCH more output than those 150-250 lights, then get something that accepts two (2x) CR123 (typically labeled as lithium photo) batteries. Here are a few that will be more likely to suit your needs....

Buy a ten pack of the batteries to match the light. The CR123's will last you a long time in those lights. Don't bother with buying Duracells or Energizer CR123's since they kill you on the price - almost 5x more expensive for those, and they don't even perform better.

What are those big spotlights called and where would you buy them? You know those big spotlights they have on the ground outside of a big event? They shine so bright that you can see the beams shooting into the sky, and they often rotate 180 degrees. What are these called and where would you buy them? Even the SF M6 can only be classified as tactical light and is no match for the rechargeable 1M candlelights.
The problem is one cannot carry these heavy spot lights all day long.
As far as light and money is concerned, it really offer really good value for money.

A few days ago, my 5 year old stared into a bright spotlight. Is this seriously harmful to her vision? A few says ago my 5 year old stared into a bright spotlight and since then has been saying that she sees lines and spots when she closes her eyes (and sometimes when her eyes are open). What could be the potential problem(s)? She is a very hypersensitive girl and I am wondering if she is now noticing things that she hasn't before or if this is a result of staring into the light. This sounds like curiosity to me.
Shes probably just realizing that if you stare into a bright light source, it imprints little designs on your retna, that go away within a few minutes.
If you are truly concerned, you should probably talk to your pediatrician, but.. overall it sounds like your daughter is curious and is exploring her own body/world.

Why do helicopters hover over houses with spotlights? Just wondering since something recentley happend, There were a few helicopters in my neighborhood, Hovering around with spotlights shinning down on street? I Mean it wasnt like a police chase or enything, Why do they doo this? It's sooo annoying it happends atleasts twice a week, and the spotlights are bright.. They are probably looking for pot plants. They often monitor drug plants to see if there is activity around them. They will set a camera out and check it from the air. It is easier to see the pot plants at night with night vision cameras due to their distinct light that they give off.
The way the cops see it is "it's better to catch the supplier than destroy his product".
Either that or you have a huge problem with thugs running from cops.

I have a Canon Powershot G9 and would like some advice on which is the best setting for taking pictures? I am going to New York to watch the Joe Calzaghe V Jones Jnr fight in Madison Square Gardens.. Which is the best settings to capture brilliant pictures. It will be indoor, but with lots of bright spotlights etc. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks You desperately need to study your manual (several times) as well as a few extra books on photography. You will take much better photos with a bit of knowledge about the subject.
Bring a tripod or at least monopod, crank up your ISO, use a custom white balance and keep your shutter speed short to avoid too much motion blur.

Where can I buy a focusable spotlight for 300 yard target shooting? I'm looking for a bright spotlight which I can run off of a generator, which will focus a small beam out to a 300 yard target for nighttime target shooting. I don't think a standard spotlight will work at this distance, I need something high-powered and possibly HID. Where could I look for this? Thanks Home Depot.

What's with the roving spotlight at Matching Green? At Matching Green (nr. Harlow, Essex, UK) a Landrover drives around the countryside, late at night, shining a bright spotlight across the fields. There is no livestock there most of the time - just crops - sometimes just ploughed fields. So, what are they looking for? We don't know !

What is the best spotlight for hunting foxes and roos with, The brightest one that will shine the furthest? I currently have an old Lightforce handheld 240mm Blitz spotlight that is a great spotlight and it mounts easily to my roof bar so I can drive and spot by myself. But i need a new spotlight and I have heard about these new HID (High Intensity Discharge) lights, Do the new Lightforce hand held spotlights have these HID lights in them? If not, do any other handheld spot lights have them? HP suggests one of these
