Diabetics! How much does a lite beer or/regular beer lower your Blood sugar numbers? I'm a new diabetic. I haven't had a beer in 3 months and am dying to have one. We're (wife & I) are a little frightful of what may happen. They say I should eat while drinking. If I do, how will I get a true measure of the effects? Well, I tried it and my numbers went up. 22 points for a Miller Lite. I tested 2 hours after a meal. Had a beer and tested about an hour later. The night before I had a Killians and my numbers went over 200. But that's a full bodied beer with 14 carbs per bottle. So my little expermient hasn't lead me to a drop in my numbers. But I do know if I'm out and a friend buys me a beer, it should be a light one. I like dark beer though. Anyone tried the new Michelob Ultra Amber. I gotta have some taste. Alcohol may also mask symptoms of hypoglycemia. Furthermore, being drunk may cause you to ignore symptoms of hypoglycemia.
If you want a beer with your meal, it should be okay. But there has to be a better use for your calories.

Do they actually make drinkable blood subsitutes? A few days ago I was at the bookstore, and I was looking at a book called Suck It Up. I remember reading something about a soy-based blood subsitute called Blood-Lite. I'm not sure if it was talking about the story, or the author's friend. I can't remember. It would be awesome if someone could help me. I don't want it, I just want to know because I know someone who would be interested in that. There is no thing as a soy based substitute for blood.
